I had the pleasure of having the folks at Gil's repair my Ford Focus. The car had quit on me while I was driving to Panama City. I had my car towed to Gil's and called them to explain what had happened before getting towed. I was told they might not be able to get to it until the following day. Gil met me after we arrived and the mechanics were able to get my car out of "P" when offloading it from the tow truck and made a quick assessment of the problem. I was asked if I needed a ride anywhere, but my wife was 15 minutes away. They called me when the repair was complete, sooner than the expected date, and at a reasonable repair cost. When I asked about the repair cost, the receptionist reminded me there was a 4% add-on charge for Credit/Debit card use. This is also displayed at the window. I would recommend cash payments for very costly repairs. When I picked up the car, I was shown the part that caused the problem and they explained the repair. They also told me to bring it back if there were any issues. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I recommend Gil's Auto Medic to anyone needing car repairs. Though it is an hour away, I will return for future car repairs. read more

I once dropped my vehicle off at the shop 4 days before it was scheduled to be worked on. Gil called me the same day stating he's already finished my car, and explained very well what was going on with my front end (I asked them to look at that as well), I asked him if he could fix that too, a few hours later he called and said it was done! absolutely terrible...sent my truck in to get new brakes and they told me I needed a little front end work before they could do the brakes which was fine...2500 dollars later and my trucks front end is worse than before loud pops when I turn,told me they would align my truck when done,completely ruined my brand new 1500 dollar tires in 2 weeks the truck was so out of line,now I'm paying 3500 dollars to a real mechanic shop in bay county to fix it all the right way...seemed like a nice guy but doesn't care about quality just wants to do as much jack work as they can and take your money read more

I'v used Gil's Auto Medic twice over the last 18 months on my 2012 F-150, and my 2019 Raptor. They replace a emissions sensor, rotated tires, installed some accessories, change the oil, and tuned up the 2012. They are above all honest, down-to-earth, ready to help people. The groom and I were nearly home on a return trip from Miami to Pensacola when our car exhibited all the symptoms of a bad alternator. We pulled over for the night in a strange town and asked our hotelier for a recommendation, and without hesitation he said "Gil's" was the best shop in town. We looked at each other and concluded we would give him a try in the morning. Upon waking, we jumped up and, to my everlasting gratitude, the car started and we had just enough juice left to get us to the shop. Sure enough, the car wouldn't start again in the parking lot, so the mechanics pushed the car into the shop. Turns out, the alternator was fine, but the connector was loose because of a worn out clip. Our mechanic fixed it with a zip tie, charged the battery and got us on the road again in 90 minutes for CHEAP! All I can say is that they know what they're doing and they don't cheat their customers--even out-of-owners. read more

Amazing people and an amazing shop. Our car broke down near them while on a cross country trip and we were barely able our car into their shop and they took care of us. They diagnosed the problem quickly and ran over to pick up the part from the nearest supplier in the next town. They understood our situation and worked with us and we were out of the shop in under two hours. You feel their hospitality in their shop and they are very honest people. Gil's Auto Medic is one of the best auto repair shops along I-10 and perhaps in the state. Friendly staff and quick repair time. Shredded a tire on the interstate and my inertia switch got flipped. Gil's explained how to fix the inertia switch in future situations and changed out three of my tires in 2 hours. They had an extremely full lot, but managed to take care of our situation. We were 1.5 hours into our 6 hour trip home and our battery light came on, brand new battery so I knew it had to either be some loose wires or need for a new alternator. No idea where we were or where anything was in the area for that matter stumbled upon this place looking up auto shops on maps and this place had the best reviews so we went for it. Turned out as our luck would have it new alternator was needed. Luckily the local advance auto had our alternator in stock from part pickup time to install it took a total of 1.5 hours which is exactly how much time Gil told us it would take. He even went above and beyond knowing we were on vacation telling the locals who were expecting their cars to be repaired or ready that day that they would have to wait, he put us first with no questions asked. Heading back to Florida from Louisiana, the water pump goes on my CTS. Overheating, I pulled off the Bonifay exit to see what the heck I'm going to do. Found Gil's Auto Medic via Google nearby. An hour before closing the owner Gil sent his son down to my location to check the situation. They were able to tow rope it back to the shop 2 miles away, lift it, fix it, and send us on our way. The whole time being extremely friendly and helpful. These guys literally saved my car, saved the road trip, saved us not losing our deposit on the resort we were headed to..if I could give 10 stars I would. I'm a local and I have always received excellent service at Gil's. They are fair and honest.

We were traveling from Pensacola Beach to Jacksonville, my Jeep threw the pulley and serpentine belt in McDonald's parking lot. We randomly contacted Gil's who showed up within 45 minutes, double checked under the hood and towed us to the shop. Even though there were customers waiting, they got us in immediately and already had the parts required waiting to install. We sat outside since we had our two dogs with us and a young mechanic brought chairs out for us. This was the best experience ever with auto repair. Usually I am met with rude and ill-mannered mechanics who act like they are doing you a favor. Gil and his employees are extremely friendly and respectful. They had us on our way quickly and the bill was very reasonable. If I lived in the Bonifay area, this would be my go to auto repair. read more
