Although we're nowhere close to being good or experienced gardeners but we are trying to spiff up our yard. There were a couple of cars in the driveway when we arrived and there were steady new arrivals. That just shows it is a pretty popular place. I believe Bob was there as we were browsing. Friendly chap! He found out we'd never been so he explained the set up and how the greenhouses are labelled according to the type of plants they housed, full sun or part shade. I've never been to such a rustic nursery but I got the feeling that they had serious gardeners as their clientele. Friendly too!The customers were chatting to us left and right. Definitely a worthwhile place to check out. We picked up our little "Paddle" whom we spot from afar. It was just what we were looking for to replace the one I'd murdered over the winter. I didn't think we'd find him there so that was really lucky! I hadn't taken any pictures of the place because my phone ran out of juice, but I'm posting a picture of "Paddle" here.

We had a rather large dent, hole, trench, whatever you want to call it in our backyard. When we…read morewere looking to purchase our house, we noticed it. But, we just thought that the ground was the way it was due to a tree casting shade... uhm no. This hole would collect up to 8 inches of water during the unusually wet spring we had this 2019. Fearing the unintentional water feature would devalue property, be host to a massive mosquito orgy and lead to the death of an already sick looking tree, we had to do something. Upon the recommendation of someone, I contacted Minick. After about 3 or 4 conversations, measurements, complex math equations, and more measurements, I was confident that we had the right place for dirt. We ordered 3.5 tons (that's 7,000 lbs of soil) to fill the giant hole. The dirt was $38 per ton, delivery was another $98. So all in all, not too bad. They delivered on a Saturday, and had a contingency plan if it rained... i.e. set up delivery another day. We prepped the drive way with a tarp... as we would be responsible for trekking it to the backyard, and a driver deposited the dirt. He was very nice and mindful of making sure to not crack the driveway with the truck. So far, we are happy with the dirt. It has done its job. My next project involves some river rock and raised bed gardens. Minick will be my first call.

The delivery driver was awesome, polite and very helpful. Dumped the soil directly on the tarp i had placed down. That's the good, unfortunately the soil was so hot i won't be able to plant for who knows how long, but it wont be this season. Over 50 seedlings with no soil to put them in. Their solution, buy inexpensive potting soil to top off the ammonia rich soil until it completes its composting cycle. More expense. VERY DISAPPOINTED. VERY!

The first thing I noticed was how charming it looked from the road. We turned into the nursery and down a path full of gorgeous ceramic plant pots of all sizes and colours. Parking was ample and convenient. As we entered the green house we were greeted by a friendly "hello". My eyes lit up at all the pretty decorations, plants, and flowers as I scanned for succulents. All their plants look well cared for. Green and luscious. Healthy. There were many succulent varieties and I felt like a kid in a candy shop. As I'm fairly new to the hobby (been at it for just a month) I wanted baby succulents as I love to feel accomplished tending to them and seeing them grow. They had many 4-inch pot plants but very few 2-inchers. Still, I managed to find a baby bear's paw and cobweb plant I wanted. We went up to pay and the staff/cashiers were happy and friendly. Such a nice atmosphere! It must be so calming and pleasant to be among plants and flowers everyday for them I'm definitely coming back to check out their succulents again.

She recommended a variety of options based around my budget. The selection is great. As others have mentioned they carry a variety of pots and gifts - so it really is a one stop shop. That being said, all their plants can stay in their planters for six months, so pots are not a necessity right away (according to the employee). Is it a little pricier than your average, Yes. However, I think when you shop at local boutique style shops that should be expected! Additionally, they source all their plants from local nurseries, so they are able to better monitor the health of their plants. In the end, I left super satisfied with 3 plants and 2 pots, and will definitely be back!

The allure of this shop is they have a lot of cute plants + fashionable containers that have found each other in a perfect marriage. Together the plant + fashionable container would look fab in your house---zero effort for the win! That easy peasey approach will cost ya. Things in here are more expensive. Although most places that do the work for you do charge a convenience fee--so no surprise there. Sometimes it's nice to pay a little more and have the plant project be done without running to several different stores (or getting your nails dirty). That's where The Plant Shoppe comes in. They do a good job of have varied price points--$10 & up. Looking for a gift...take a look here! Air plants, succulents, cacti, oh my! I do have a wish list. It includes a MUCH bigger card selection. Let's lean into this one stop shop idea a bit more: I would love to see some custom merch--think (branded) cork plant mats, small chic (branded) watering cans, more macrame!, a chic plant mister (I'm using an ugly repurposed plastic spray bottle at home now)...the possibilities are endless!
