    I went to see Sherry on the recommendation of the store that sold me my dress. My dress was too big…read moreinitially, but there was only one size in stock. One cup also flipped outward a bit at the top, but the dress shop lady assured me Sherry could fix it. I loved the dress, and I bought it. I met with Sherry on September 2, 2025. I had lost some weight since buying the dress, so the dress needed to be altered significantly. I asked whether she could do it, and she told me something to the effect of "I'll see what I can do." She also planned to adjust the hem, add a bustle, and fix the cup. On September 16, 2025, she me a text message to tell me the dress was ready to be picked up. I was skeptical, as I had not yet seen the dress after the alterations to decide whether it was ready to be picked up. I decided to pick it up that day. When I tried it on, I immediately noticed the shape had changed. To fix the cup, Sherry sewed the edges of the cups down. I told her it looked different, and she kept telling me it did not. She also tied me into as tightly as she could, and it was way too big. She told me it was the best she could do. She recommended tape on the cups and inside the dress to hold it on. The experience was weighing on me, mostly because I felt like the shape of the dress looked so different now that the cups had been altered. But it is difficult to put on a dress at home by yourself, so I was waiting until I had some help. On October 26, 2025, I could not wait any longer. I got my dress out and instantly ripped out the stitches that Sherry put in the cups. The shape looked much better. However, now I was noticing it was huge and looked like a shapeless sack on me. At this point, I thought the mistake was mine - I bought a dress that was simply too big and thought I would have to get another one. I text Sherry to see if she could alter another dress before the wedding, and she responded by recommending I first come back in to her to see what could be done. This is when I knew something was not right -- Sherry told me she had done all she could do, but now she was telling me she might be able to do more. I began to wonder whether what she had done was right. I found another seamstress. On my first visit, although trying to be very kind and professional, my new seamstress was pointing out problems with Sherry's work - odd bunching at the seams, appliques that were sticking up, and of course the fact that it had not been taken in enough. She told me she would have to look at it, but taking it in as much as I needed should be no problem. After inspecting the dress, she sent me a text to show me that Sherry had altered the dress with hand stitching and told me, very plainly, that it was not good. (picture below) At first, she was not even sure she could fix the stitching, and I was devastated. This was THE dress, and I might have to go look for another one two months before my wedding. I wasn't sure how to handle the situation with Sherry. I felt like a partial refund was fair under the circumstances, so the next day, I text her the following message: "Hey, Sherry. I won't need to come by this week. At my last visit, you told me the dress was as small as it could get, so I felt like I needed to take it to someone else. I don't want to offend you, but she is planning to undo what was done and re-alter [the] dress. Her opinion was that it was not done correctly. Its going to cost me another $300 to have it fixed, so I would like to ask for a refund of that amount. Again, I don't mean to offend you, but I feel like this is fair given the situation I find myself in." This was Sherry's response: "Well [sic] it is hurtful. I asked you to come back in and see what we can do. I didn't do it incorrectly. There is no refund for work done. I offered to see what we can do to adjust things. I hope she does what you need." "I've never had my work called incorrect. I've always tried to do excellent work for my clients." Sherry's response was unacceptable to me. I will note that she did alter the hem and attach a bustle, which worked fine. But the sizing work had to be redone entirely. Thankfully, my new seamstress did fix it, and it was beautiful. It looked like you would expect a custom tailored dress to look. But I ultimately have paid to have my dress altered twice. It was not a good experience. I would not go back.

    A mixed experience over the years. Items have been cleaned/pressed as expected, but I wouldn't take…read moreany "intricate" items to Rockwood. A few years ago, I took a wool sweater here that had rivets along the neckline. Upon picking up the item, I contacted Rockwood to let them know that many of the rivets were missing. They found the rivets in their machine, requested I bring the item back & they'd repair it. All worked out well, other than I had to drive back and forth from Dublin. The least they could've done was refund the dry-cleaning expense for this garment due to the inconvenience. I gave them another shot this past fall with 2 wool blankets from Pendleton. Unfortunately, the leather Pendleton patch on one of the blankets was completely damaged after taking it to Rockwood. When I notified them, I was told that it was likely a Pendleton quality issue as they clean many wool blankets from that brand & have never had an issue. I was also told that the cleaner responsible for this particular blanket would have brought the damage to management's attention. Ultimately, I was told to reach out to Pendleton and see if they could send me a replacement patch (which the company does not do, understandably so.) Long story, short - I was disappointed by the lack of accountability from this business. Mistakes happen, but I've learned my lesson here. I've since found an alternate dry cleaner to use.
