There are some truly wonderful chiropractors in the world, who are extremely skilled and knowledgeable about doing adjustments and relieving pain. But to find the truly wonderful ones (I think of these as the "real chiropractors"), you have to sift through a LOT of folks who claim to cure everything, sell a lot of supplements, and give the profession a bad name. I've often thought, it might be a little depressing at times to be a really wonderful and helpful chiropractor -- a dedicated and highly skilled professional who genuinely helps people with their pain-- and yet the general public can't help but lump the profession all together and has the idea that chiropractors can be sketchy. As a patient, you've got to be highly selective with chiropractors. I'm pleased to report, you can trust the 70-some five-star reviews here! And now I'll add another one. Dr Fakhoury is a wonderful chiropractor! And my daughter had a great experience, and was very comfortable with him. She liked his demeanor, and while she tends to dread getting adjusted (which is why she waited so long to see if the pain would just go away), she appreciates great results, and her visit really helped her. For months she'd had a sore spot on her back, after a weird roller skating fall and it just wasn't going away. She says: "he pushed on the area in my back that was hurting me and it was really painful and tender, and after he did the adjustment in my back he pushed on it again and it didn't hurt" For me that's always the sign of a great adjustment. The doctor can move something, and the pain can disappear so fast (not always, of course -- I'm sure it depends on your problem-- but when it works, it works so miraculously well). She also said, "he also readjusted my hips and neck and ankles and wrists and like everything" and "and i think the wrist adjustments really helped, im already noticing less clicking in my wrists" which also happened when she fell. She'd really hurt her wrist at the time. It's been bothering her for so many months that she's going back for a followup adjustment, and that seems very reasonable.
