The predominant technique she employs is called EPT, or Emotional Polarity Technique. The basic concept is that "your thoughts and emotions are inseparably linked. In an attempt to deal with the avalanche of stress in your life, your mind stores excess negative emotional energy in your body." The key is to discover these negative emotions and release them, opening up the body's natural pathways for healthy response to life stimuli. While this may sound a bit ethereal on the surface, there actually is a lot of detailed scientific information explaining this process. The body contains 72 thousand energy pathways called neuropathways or neuropeptide channels. These pathways connect our subconscious mind and relay information from the body to the mind. When our physical self experiences a trauma or an experience which it identifies as fear inducing, that channel is in essence solidified as a memory. For example, if you place your hand on the hot stove, the channel in place makes sure you never do that again. In much the same way, if you experience an interaction with a person who traumatized you, you would also solidify that channel. The net result is that you are highly resistant to similar interactions in the future. Perception then, has a strangle hold over our emotions. What we perceive at that moment is then carried forward as a truth and locked into the subconscious to "protect" ourselves. Since the subconscious mind is timeless, if feels as though those past traumas are all presently relevant. If you wish to dissipate this harmful structure, in order to remove the perceived threat, you need to raise your vibration. EPT practice does just this. At the same time, attention is given to altering the perception, both due to the removal of the negative pathways and through conscious intention: intercepting the negative thoughts and replacing them with healthy ones. All this being said, it's not just the practice itself that is so powerful and effective, it really comes down to Andrea herself, and her ability to get to the root and carefully pulling it out, freeing you to an entire world of exciting possibilities that previously appeared closed to you. I had been a patient at BridgePointe Psychological and Counseling Services over a year. I have an…read moreunusual set of diagnosed psychiatric disorders, none resulted in body image distortions or addictions. Often, psychiatric services pigeonhole patients into treatment or therapy due to addictions and/or body image distortions. This one-size-fits-all approach doesn't work with me because my problems/manifestations require different care. I explained my concerns to BridgePointe regarding the nature of my psychiatric difficulties.They accepted me as a patient and I saw a separate therapist and psychiatric nurse practitioner who was the meds prescriber. Several months ago the initial therapist stopped seeing me, saying that he wanted to no longer see me because I quit a fatiguing, stressful part-time job before securing a new one. I have a new therapist. Within a month I secured a part-time position from a reputable organization that pays reasonable wages. Most work is done at home and participants report to the organization for two hours once weekly. Like many who are afflicted with mental health problems, I've gone on and off several medications over many years. Initially I thought that the nurse practitioner would work. She seemed caring in regards to my unusual set of psychiatric comorbidities and eager to try medications. We moved forward with a starter pack medication for a new drug. I ran into trouble when attempting to fill the prescription at my pharmacy. Because I am a Medicare patient, I was ineligible for the savings card some patients are able to use. The pharmacist said that I would need to pay $210 for a month's supply. Not happening. And the sample pack's final pill was that Monday. So I call the nurse practictioner's phone and left a detailed message explaining that I am in limbo on how to proceed. I placed my call on a Monday at 11:15 a.m. Her outgoing message said to expect responses Tuesdays through Fridays during normal business hours. So by Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. I hadn't heard back, so I called and left another detailed message explaining that the previous day I had taken the final pill from the sample pack and was unsure of next moves going forward. I still had not heard anything by 3:30 p.m., so I called the office receptionist and asked her to please have the nurse practitioner call me since I was in a medication crisis and my previous calls to her machine went unanswered. She finally called at 3:55 p.m. to say that I need to go online and look for a special form to be filled out by patients and signed by practitioners that would allow me to receive the drug for free or a reduced cost. I'm frustrated and this exercise of hunting down the elusive savings form is like looking for a needle in a haystack. A complicating factor is that the sample pack listed two pharmaceutical company names in partnership. It turned out that a third name absent from the packaging was the company responsible to issuing and reviewing the assistance forms patients needed to download, fill out, and mail in for financial assistance review. The staff at a mental health organization from a city I previously lived had the foresight and courtesy to already print the pharmacy-assistance forms so they were ready to give to appropriate patients. She said that she would set out another starter pack. So about 1 p.m. I pick it up and told the receptionist that I had further questions, and could the nurse practitioner please call me. The receptionist said that she was there with another patient and that I would get a call at a free moment. Again I'm waiting, and the hours go by. I don't receive the call until 4:41 p.m. I said that I had concerns about starting again on this medication because I didn't know how long it would take for the from I handed in for her signature would take until the prescription would be filled. The nurse practitioner is now upset because I don't understand that I'm not her only patient. Duuuhhh! I patiently waited 36 hours between my first call and actually speaking with her. I understand that she likely would be with patients throughout the day. But the time lapsed was excessive, esp for a meds emergency. She got testy when I said that I had concerns about the organization's ability to capably treat a patient like me who has numerous unusual psychiatric diagnoses. I said that I questioned her ability to effectively treat me. She said that she would discharge me as a patient because I no longer "trust" her. I said now I do question her abilities to treat (and dismiss) a patient who in just the past 48 hours had suicidal ideation, experienced fits of rage, shrieking episodes, and then the phone call suspiciously got cut. Mental health practitioners have a responsibility to their patients! If you find that you cannot in good faith continue treating a patient, help her/him make the transition to a new therapist/facility. I am now w/out needed therapy, meds. Shame on you BridgePointe!

I called and left multiple messages and the calls are not returned in a timely manner. I wish I had a better experience this office. Luckily, I found another provider better suited to my needs. The provider I was seeing didn't want to see me anymore because I missed 2 appointments because I couldn't figure out how to use the online telemedicine platform and I was 7 minutes late. Apparently he couldn't wait for 7 minutes, but he was over 10 minutes late to my first appointment.

Biggest reason is that she does not bother to take notes whatsoever during a session, she seems to be more reliant on using her memory (or lack there of) I was a patient that would see her once every other week. So making notes would especially be crucial in a case such as myself. This lack of professionalism resulted in a lot of disconnect of my issues discussed because between those gaps of time she was dealing with more patients and most the time we met she couldn't even remember what we talked about from the prior session. This left me feeling unresolved about my emotional issues. Not many suggestions were given during my sessions with Julie or at least ones impactful enough to be memorable. Towards the end of my time seeing Julie one of her last and maybe only solutions was the use of medication for my mental illnesses and while I have taken medication and do so now. It just came across very lazy on her part not even bothering to put much effort into being a therapist. Overall my experience wasn't well and while it's unfortunate it turned out the way it did I look at it as a learning curve to assess what makes a good therapist and what doesn't. I can only hope this review I give this individual can help others steer clear of making the same mistake I did by giving this person my time. I was given the daily tools to use for my sobriety. The small group setting feels safe and comfortable along with a staff that is very positive, knowledgeable, supportive and kind. I came to realize that I have a disease...not to be ashamed of. Now that I am an "alumni," I go back once a week for after care as part of the program. I still feel very much a part of the Hotel California Family. This is a unique program that is very different than other intensive outpatient programs in the city. The Cincinnati Anxiety Center is also multifaceted based on their client's needs. They utilize only the best and clinically approved, state-of-the-art technology. And I could probably write a book about evening they have to offer, but go ahead and just look them up online to find out all of their services. Mostly, for me, they care. Not a marketing "we care about you," but care as a person who understands your pain. For me, even after missing appointments, I was never shamed. Never has my therapist given up on me. I've even been given a house call and meeting up outside their office, upon my approval, after having difficulty making appointments. They are there for YOU. One personal reflection I remember... It was a rough day. I only wanted to go to bed, but I when I got to my appointment, my therapist held out a nitendo switch controller and said "Let's see those Fifa skills." I have no gaming skills, so I didn't fare well, but I laughed. I mean really laughed! And it was the right medicine. I laughed more than I had for weeks.
