My wife is petite, she is 5ft 4in and around 100lbs.''DR. GIDEON OBVIOUSLY HAD THE WRONG SIZE HARDWARE (BRACKETS AND SCREWS) HIS CHOICE'S WHILE PERFORMING MY WIFE'S SURGERY!!! Dr .Gideon Lewis used surgical hardware which actually was to big for her foot. These issues were to be observed by another local Podiatric surgeon. The new surgeon who corrected Dr. Gideon's "hack job" stated when performing the surgery to correct everything, that he could actually pull the screws and brackets that were all loose and he could pull the hardware out with his fingers. My wife used a bone stimulator as requested by Dr. Gideon, it didn't help heal her foot.THE PAIN WAS SO UNBEARABLE! SHE REQUESTED AN APPOINTMENT AFTER SURGERY AND DR. LEWIS SAID THE PAIN WAS FROM SCAR TISSUE. WELL OF COURSE THERE IS GOING TO BE SCAR TISSUE SINCE EVERYTHING WAS LOOSE AND WALLOWED OUT FROM DR. GIDEONS POOR CHOICES DURING THE SURGERY. I TRULY WISHED MY WIFE WOULD HAVE CHOSEN ANOTHER DR. his bedside manner is arrogant and condescending. A family friend recommended Dr. Lewis and I couldn't have picked a better foot surgeon. He knows what he's doing and how to help his patients have an effective recovery to help get you back to everyday life. I am not involved in sports at all, but at my job, I need to be on my feet and moving around a lot throughout the day. Since I had been in pain from my bunions for a long time, I decided to set an appointment with Dr. Lewis. I did not feel that Dr. Lewis pushed surgery at all. He takes his time and tells you what is going on with your foot based on his professional observations and x rays and then he lays out the options that you should consider. I had bunion surgery four weeks ago and am thrilled with my current recovery thanks to Dr. Lewis. I had to pay out of pocket for some of the pre and post surgery items, that aren't covered by insurance, but any items I have purchased have been 100% necessary to help my recovery, so I don't mind spending a bit more for quality care and items. Dr. Lewis' staff is friendly and Lindsay was so helpful over the phone and patient with me with my questions before surgery & she got back to me in a timely manner with any questions she needed to ask Dr. Lewis for me. I came to Dr. Lewis a few weeks ago to get his POV on a genetic issue I have with one of my toes and also some fungus I think I'd gotten after I hurt my toe skiing last year. The wait was short and Dr. Lewis is nice while also straightforward, which I appreciate. He didn't recommend I do much for my toe issue right now, but did tell me to stop wearing backless shoes (kind of hard when you live in Florida and wear sandals every day!) He also got me medicine for my toe fungus. One thing I did feel was that he pushed getting laser treatment for the fungus. I wasn't sure I wanted to pay up front for those treatments before I'd tried the topical medicine. I passed and said I'd call to make the treatment appointment. I've been using the topical treatment for about a month and all the fungus is gone. I'm going to finish the 6 month plan and go back to Dr. Lewis for a revaluation. read more

He goes above and beyond for his patients and wants to ensure every need is met! He is patient, gentle and asks questions so he is very clear on the best treatment plan needed to resolve your issues. He gives gold medal service, whether you are a professional athlete, or just a busy mom with aching feet like me. I have suffered with Plantar Fasciitis for the past year and had been nearly immobile from the pain. He gave me injections, special inserts, made a casting of my foot for customized inserts and prescribed me a special, "fancy" pair of orthotic sneakers. I feel Dr. Lewis pushes surgery unnecessarily and promotes expensive and experimental treatments which may not be effective or covered by insurance. He told me that with surgery, he could have me in regular shoes instead of a boot in a week. Not even close to the truth. He didn't hold to the protocols for anesthesia that we had discussed and didn't inform me ahead of time. I found out only when I arrived at the hospital and was in pre-op. It seems as if he is primarily interested in making as much money as he can from the patients who come in. The office is staffed by extremely young intern types. Perhaps they are less expensive to hire than experienced professionals. I literally saw him for less than ten minutes at any pre-op or post-op visit. The main office staff was helpful and friendly, if ham-strung to offer answers until speaking with "Doctor" who doesn't address issues immediately, even so they can pass along a message. Usually I would wait until the next day for an answer to my question. It's always about the bottom line. For me, it is adequate care and healing. For Dr. Lewis, I feel it's all about the money. I have so many things to say about Dr. Lewis. I have been Dr. Lewis' patient for about a year. I originally went to see him about a broken toe. I was so impressed by his office, his staff, and his professional demeanor. After my X-rays were taken by his assistant, Dr. Lewis came in to review them with me. He explained my options, as well as my recovery process. Surgery was a success! Approximately 3 weeks ago, I missed a step, and broke my ankle. I was able to get in to see Dr. Lewis immediately. He made me comfortable (as the pain was excruciating), and put me on his surgery schedule immediately. I, now have pins stabilizing my ankle, and am still recovering, but I'm doing great! I broke my ankle in the midst of this crazy Covid-19 Pandemic, and was apprehensive about going into a hospital for surgery. (Here's where it gets good) My surgery had to be done under general anesthesia. Dr. Lewis cleared the entire operating room while the anesthesiologist intubated me, to keep me safe. He is the G.O.A.T of Foot/Ankle doctors in my opinion. read more

After years of searching for a doctor to make my orthotics, I found Dr. Lewis in Orlando Florida. He makes the mold by hand and sends them off to the lab. I spent years getting digital imaging and thousands of dollars to no avail. I was treated respectfully by the entire staff and Dr. Gideon is a caring and consummate professional. I spent 5 years getting failed attempts at getting orthotics. I was so happy as due to prior overcorrected orthotics I developed Achilles tendonitis and other painful symptoms. He succeeded at giving me the ability to WALK again; no exaggeration. He also works with Track Shack which will fit you for the correct shoes to go with the orthotics, WOW! I saw Dr. Lewis for the first time in December 2017, to get a second opinion on a non-union fracture of the 5th metatarsal in my left foot. Another doctor had performed surgery on it 6/2/17, after I broke it on 5/20/17, and the fracture showed no signs of healing. The first doctor wanted to remove this piece of bone and be done with it. Dr. Lewis recommended trying a bone stimulator first and if that didn't work we would then address the surgical options and stated that removing the bone should be the last resort. After conservative treatment failed to work the revision surgery was scheduled for 5/3/2018. It is now the end of July and at my last appointment Dr. Lewis said that the fracture is about 90% healed and there have been no additional complications. I've been a patient of Dr Lewis for quite a few years. He has treated me for ingrown toenails and plantar fasciitis. He and Nurse Kenya are friendly and professional and treat me with no pain. They provide solutions to my challenges using the right combination of medicine, procedures and assigned homework of stretches, ice therapy, proper shoes, insoles etc. I had self diagnosed my plantar fasciitis and Dr Lewis listened to me, x-rayed my feet and confirmed my thoughts and suggested treatment. Arrogant. Maybe he does know what he is doing but if you ask any questions or want to discuss ideas his answer is " Do they have a PHD?" He did cure my plantar fasciitis with the cortisone shots but that's pretty standard fare and any doctor could have done this and probably would have done the same treatment. The second visit when I wanted to talk to him he was very dismissive. I took both socks off during my follow up even though I had issues in just the one foot he seemed annoyed asking me why I took off both socks. Sorry I didn't think that would offend you Doctor. Spent minimal time actually speaking to me and the visit felt rushed. His last statement was you don't need to come back which felt to me like please don't come back. Don't worry I won't. read more

In March of 2013, I started to get the pain from PLANTAR FASCIITIS in my left foot. in 2010 I had the same thing on my right foot. Three injections from a podiatrist did nothing for me, and I hobbled my way to healing in 18 months. So, I suffered it out this time, even though it was more acute. I tried massage, chiropractic intervention, some electric stimulation stuff, even acupuncture, but got no lasting relief. My hobbling was so bad and painful, I struggled to grocery shop. At my family's insistence I went to see Dr. Gideon Lewis and of-course, I refused the injections. BIG MISTAKE! One thing that had struck me on my first visit, was that he was very modest and gentle but also confident about himself. His front office and the other staff were also super nice and extremely helpful. So I went back to him thinking I will get custom inserts. However, having suffered some more months, in October of 2013, I relented and took two injections a week apart. BIG DIFFERENCE! Now I am pretty much pain free, just like that. I've got my life back. I used to struggle with walking even in between rooms in the house, my Plantar Fasciitis was so bad. By prolonging the hobbling and the limping, I messed up my ankles, knees and hips. BIG TIME! Dr. Lewis is extremely arrogant and makes it all about himself vs. his patients. He is "always right" and doesn't take into consideration the patient's input. He fitted me for a custom orthotic and the orthotic was more painful than without. NO wonder--he doesn't even have me stand up when measuring. I was in too much pain and found an over the counter solution. I requested a full refund because I had to find a solution on my own. He refused and continued to talk about himself and the time he put into the original orthotic rather than the pain I went through. What probably was more painful was the way in which he talked to me in the appointments with ridicule and disdain. I didn't trust him to have a revised orthotic. He needs to take ownership of his poor bedside manner. Don't ever go to this office. read more

I'm super doctor picky and Dr. Gideon J Lewis exceeded my expectations as well as the entire staff. Dr. Lewis messaged me on FB on a SUNDAY and said he would make an appointment available at my convenience the following day, Monday! Well, that's exactly what happened. After sharing with him my challenges, I was given a 11:30 appointment. I walked right into a clean office with my paperwork already filled out. The office staff couldn't have been nicer and very thorough. There was NO wait! Well, maybe 5 mins. LOL. I think that was only do to the fact I was a new patient and the office needed to get my paperwork ready for Dr. Lewis. I was immediately seen by a very nice nurse... Fast forward 45 mins...I received X-rays, met with the doctor who was very personable, knowledgeable, listened to my concerns, and I even felt like he genuinely wanted to get to know me as a "friend" not just a patient. He didn't want to just make my pain go right away, but was more concerned about figuring out the root not a quick fix. I am a runner and a physician/surgeon. I have been plagued by ankle pain for the past 2 years. I knew I should have it evaluated, but could never seem to find the time. I finally went to see Dr. Lewis on the recommendation of other runners. Within minutes he was able to correctly diagnose my problem and outline a course of treatment. I had surgery 2 weeks ago and it already feels better than it has in years. Dr. Lewis was extremely knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. He seems both humble and confident. As an athlete, he understands the mindset of other athletes, even middle aged ones, such as myself. The wait times were minimal and always accompanied by an apology, if there were any at all. All of my questions were answered and I never felt rushed. His staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My experience at the surgery center was also excellent.
