Communal tables mixing it with other stalls at the Brooke Street Pier. Coffee was tasty and interesting. Three different roasts available, the barista recommended an Ethiopian that was up to spec. Service was friendly and helpful. Update: second visit, I asked to try a new roast and the barista offered to make me a sample first to see if it was up to spec. I love you, darlings…read more I was temporarily working out of Brooke St Pier at the start of the year and it was such a blessing knowing that the reward of very good coffee was waiting for me at the end of my morning walk. I am so fond of the "perfect" size cup, and the small selection of baked items is amazingly tasty (if you're around early enough--they don't get replenished; once they're gone, they're gone!). I've had a few people ask me if the Bright Eyes coffee is any good, which is a ridiculous question if you know it's the younger sibling of Pilgrim Coffee. It's WONDERFUL. You can also use your Pilgrim loyalty stamp card at Bright Eyes (and vice versa) and Bright Eyes is open pretty much every day consistently, including public holidays (yet another blessing over the holiday season). I'm actually a little bit sad that work doesn't have me down Brooke Street's way more often, as I miss my regular Bright Eyes dates. No EFTPOS limit, short wait, papers to read while you do. The place has had a renovation since last time and looks funky, but at the cost of comfort. The little stools really weren't very nice to sit on. I didn't finish my coffee: both my wife and my coffees were overheated and watery - worst coffee I've had in Hobart. That was topped off with unremarkable food. I won't be going back.

We were staying just above the wharf and spent about 20 minutes walking over. They had a great array of crusty, sweet and savory pastries, pies, and breakfast items. Perhaps the most impressive thing was the fact that their list of specials took up an entire chalkboard. Everything from sweet rolls too, wallaby and rabbit, pie, to some delicious eggs Benedict and a big English breakfast. They had something for everybody, and everything was really good! The place is housed in a relatively old building with a lot of character! Not so old that you're worried that you would find petrified things in the wall, but old enough that you definitely know the place has had a chance to fall over and won't. The staff was really nice, took great care of us and found us seats very quickly, despite the place being busy. All in all, this is a must check out spot whenever you are in town!

There were plenty of diced avocados on top of the thickly sliced toast. I was not fond of the dukkah but I was able to avoid most of it.
