Before I had the work completed, I got a quote for the plumbing job and was told it would be $115 an hour. So, I went ahead and scheduled the service. It took 30 minutes to complete the job, so imagine my surprise when I get an invoice for $190!!!! That math doesn't quite add up. I called to get clarification and they basically told me that the plumbers "set their own rates." So what good is getting a quote at all??? Basically, they just charge what they want. I will never ever use this service again. Plenty of other honest plumbing services in the area.

My home is in Danville, but they do provide plumbing service in Danville, IL…read more They are a breath of fresh air, and provide the type of plumbing service that I remember from my childhood. They typically come either same day or next day, with absolutely no additional emergency service charge. The focus is on taking the appropriate time to properly diagnose your plumbing issue, then providing you with the right fix. Then, to top it all off, their charges are very fair and reasonable. Unlike many other services, there is NO attempt to overcharge. In fact, they are probably undercharging as any other plumbing service would charge much more for the exact same service, some probably two to three times as much. So, do yourself a favor, if you have a plumbing problem to fix, give them a call. They will come out fairly promptly, give you the exact fix you need, and charge you a very reasonable price. Avoid the other competition that loves to price gouge customers.

From Fall 2025 On…read moreSeptember 15, I contracted with Mr. Ethan Janowski, owner of Odin's Elite Exterior Services (the business name at the time), for NEW gutters, downspouts, and leaf guards for my house. The projected cost was $2200. I paid Mr. Janowski a downpayment of $1100 on September 15, and a few days later he asked for an additional $200 payment which I gave him on September 20. On September 22, I got a text from my wife telling me that our OLD gutters had been taken down and put back up again. When I texted Mr. Janowski and asked him why he had put back up my old gutters rather than put up new ones as the invoice said, he had various excuses: the gutters I wanted did not exist, my existing gutters were already in excellent shape, he was trying to save me money, he was "refurbishing" them, etc. In addition, when I inspected his work, on one side of the house, the gutter was still on the ground. On the other side, the gutter had been reattached incorrectly: the whole gutter had been moved over one foot so that it jutted out past the edge of the roof on one side and fell short on the other side. Furthermore, there was a gap between the gutter and the roof so that rain would have gone past the gutter and done extensive water damage to the side of my house. After a few failed attempts to get Mr. Janowski to talk to me directly vs. text messages, I told him to halt all further work. He then told me I owed him an additional $650 for work done. I told him that it was rather he who owed me $1300 for breach of contract. He then told me he would put a lien on my house if I did not pay him. We agreed to settle our differences in court. On September 28, Mr. Janowski texted to tell me that he was coming over to my house to take down my gutters since, because he "worked" on them, he considered them his property now. I called the police and fortunately, Mr. Janowski did not follow through. On October 3, I sent Mr. Janowski a letter, trying to find an off ramp to this dispute. I offered to pay for any costs Mr. Janowski incurred but expected the balance of my deposit to be returned. He firmly rejected the offer, said he was now going to place 2 liens on my house, and that I could "figure it out in court." I have since taken this dispute to the Small Claims Court of Champaign County and have been awarded my initial downpayment of $1300 plus court costs. I am not optimistic about collecting the money owed but wanted to leave a public record of what happened. So there is no confusion, I did not discuss the "reframing" of my house because I did not think it was relevant. But since Mr. Janowski has brought it up, I feel I must address it: 1) the "reframing" involved removing some rotted wood siding from my house, replacing it and repainting it. I was fairly satisfied with the work although the painting was not finished. 2) the total price for this service of $950 was PAID IN FULL.

Once it was done, I went in and found a cracked new light fixture, knob and tube still there, drywall not replaced where they put the panels, leaving a void in the wall and upon my HVAC guy shocking himself because they had marked a wire wrong from a box, I asked them to come back in and correct the issue. Specifically asking them to make sure the right boxes are powering the correct sides of a duplex which I was told would be checked out. I was told that was done and the best I could tell, it was because some of the visual things were taken care of (except hole in wall and knob and tube left). Fast forward many months and me paying them already, I find that there a ton of wires powering wrong sides of the duplex. I discuss with them again and they tell me they don't believe that's their issue as they only replaced the boxes, even though I specifically asked them to make sure this was not the case the second time out. I asked them to contact my handyman that knows the issue way better and they didn't even bother to call from what I'm told. Nor did they bother getting back with me after that conversation. I came to Kaiser because I thought they were the best. I hire Union electricians because I wanted it done right the first time. They showed they're no better than anyone else, they just charge WAY more. I now get to pay someone more to come in and fix their shortcomings. I'll never use them again! They claim one thing and do another. Would have been very easy to make this right, but they chose not to care enough to even know what it would take.
