We needed to get rid of a large, mature Bradford Pear tree in our front yard. Brent, the owner of…read moreEmbark Tree Removal, got back to us right away after we contacted them through their online message form. He came over in-person and gave us, by far, the most reasonable quote of five from the various companies who came and gave us estimates. While examining our trees, it was obvious that he was knowledgeable about his job. He was friendly and did not rush the estimate, taking time to find out what we needed, answer our questions, offer advice, and create a plan for the scope of the work. On the day of the removal, Brent and his team of nine guys - with a bucket truck, chipper, skid loader, and chainsaws descended upon the job and got right to it. It was immediately apparent they were professionals and impressive to watch how they all worked together like the proverbial well-oiled machine. They worked quickly, in a highly organized and efficient manner. Even if I didn't need a tree removed, I think I would pay money just to watch them in action- it was amazing! They had the tree felled, cut up, chipped, and all cleaned up in a little over an hour. They asked if we wanted firewood from it, cut up a nice selection, and neatly stacked it on the driveway for us. We also had them trim a maple tree in the back yard and we were very pleased with how it came out. Communication from start to finish was timely and professional. We were surprised and extremely grateful that Brent went out of his way to get us worked in as quickly as possible, as we had time constraints and needed the job done asap. We also needed the stump ground and it was done the next day. We could not be more pleased with the job Embark did for us and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for tree removal, stump grinding, and pruning.

The crew knows what they are doing but Rod is an "absentee owner." He flies by the seat of his…read morepants and doesn't have good communication skills. Also, he doesn't give you a written estimate--it's a verbal deal. Apparently you have to ask for paperwork or else you don't get it. This is important because I didn't hear everything he said about his figures, and was surprised at the final bill. A poor business practice not to give written estimates. When I first called him about a job, I specifically told him to call me before coming to my house to make sure I was home. Instead, he just showed up on my door step. I went ahead and hired him and told him to have his crew call before they came. Same thing as before--they just rolled up with all their equipment without any prior notice. During the job, I asked if they would throw a few small dead branches I had collected into their shredder. A crew member said they couldn't do that because it could damage the machine. Later, they collected some dead branches the same size from the tree they were cutting and threw them in their shredder. Guess the machine is sensitive about who throws in the branches! When the job was done, Rod was nowhere to be found, and the crew had to wait 20 minutes in hopes of getting his invoice to pass on to me. They finally left when Rod didn't show up. I couldn't get a bill from them and had to call him. Later, he texted me his bill. Remember, he doesn't do paperwork--it's all in his head, and then he sends you a text image of his bill. This guy totally flies by the seat of his pants, has no communication or planing skills, is very unprofessional and a classical "absentee owner" who underpays his crew of hardworking guys while he jumps around from one job to another. I will never have him do any more work for me.
