I love Giant the chain and do enjoy this location. As others have noted the cell service inside is non existent so suggest clipping coupons before entry. I do think the staff, including the pharmacists, are very nice and produce is good. I also think the bakery section is surprisingly robust! During summer yes it's packed but if you move with purpose and are kind, I've never had an issue. Overall, this is a good grocery store with a nice selection. read more

Here's a one week summary of the indifferent and lazy employees I routinely encounter at this Giant: Deli-I'm in the store at 1100am on a weekday and wanted to get the fried chicken on sale. None on the shelf. I politely ask the young female standing directly behind the counter "excuse me, will the fried chicken be coming out soon?". Female says "I don't know" and walks away. I then try to speak to the three young men doing nothing behind the counter and ask them the same question. Deli worker reply-" yeah, we'll get some out in about 15 minutes" and he then went back to chatting with the other two. Ok, I go about my shopping and return in 15 minutes. No chicken out. I see a lad working at the deep fryers with his back toward me. The three others are still chatting away. "Excuse me, will he be putting out chicken soon? " Deli kid says "I don't know, you have to ask him," as he pointed to the kid at the fryer. Kid at fryer just keeps his back towards me, blissfully ignoring the entire verbal exchange. Gee...nice customer service boys. I left without chicken. Now, let's grab those blueberries on sale. No blueberries. Produce section once again runs out of a sale item. Now let's talk about the Giant pharmacy. A prescription was called in overnight by the local emergency room. Anti-biotic that must be started immediately. I tell my daughter that I'll get it for her so she can get ready for work. I try to pickup the prescription, patiently waiting for the white female to get done socializing with a customer. Finally my turn, only to find the prescription is not ready. I need to get this to my daughter before she leaves for work. The pharmacy lady is completely indifferent and says "you'll just have to wait... we only got here at 9am...it will be 30 minutes." I call my daughter, who says "is it that older white lady...she sucks...all she does is talk and take her time.". So, this lady's horrible attitude is consistent. I go back 45 minutes later. Still not ready. I clearly vocalize my displeasure and she says "well, now you're at our mercy and you're gonna just have to wait until she's (referring to other pharmacy lady) bagging it." The nasty lady then clearly moves slowly and just starts a conversation with the other lady. I call the store on my cell and store manager "Andrew" shows up and just stands there and says "it looks like they're getting ready." Now nasty lady goes off on me, lecturing about their hours, how busy they are, blah blah blah. I don't care, just get the pills. Then she lies and tells the manager "I told him that the pharmacist must review the count." So...yes, I'll still shop there for sale items only. No...never using their incompetence, indifferent, lazy pharmacy. Do yourself a favor and just real pharmacies. The overall indifferent and lazy climate displayed by the employees is a clear indicator of inept management, starting with store manager Andrew. read more

I ran in here to grab what I couldn't elsewhere. I also was able to grab a few more items that I could check off my list and not have to worry about grabbing upon my return home. I wondered around a bit grabbing a few items. Then I was getting frustrated and went to find the general directory that most of these stores have. Not being able to find that, I just started to look at what every aisle had with their signs. I eventually did find everything I was looking for. I then made my way to the self checkouts to get myself out of the store. There was a bit of the line but it moved fairly quickly. I went to pharmacy and asked to have prescription transferred. Woman told me if she was able to get in touch w them but I needed rx#. Went home got rx# called and same person told me it was better to have Dr send in a new script. I told her Dr not in office and I am only in this area for a few weeks. She me to hold. After several minutes, I hung up and called again. Unfortunately, I did not get her name. Next person I spoke was accommodating but vague about when prescriptions will be ready. A Giant supermarket is a supermarket that is much larger than normal. That is how they earned their name. It typically has a wide selection of groceries, produce, meat, dairy, and other household items. This Giant has multiple aisles and departments, and they also have amenities such as a fully functioning pharmacy, PNC bank, Starbucks and prepared food items including a sushi bar. I love their sushi when it is freshly prepared the same day. When I first moved here in September 2021 we first started shopping at the three nearest supermarkets, namely the Giant and Weis in Millville and Hockers in Ocean View. We also tried Harris Teeter in Selbyville off route 54 many times, which is further away. Harris Teeter and Hockers are on the higher end. We joined all four supermarket shopping clubs. We also tried Weis and Hockers many times when we first moved here, but we more often than not end up at Giant. Giant also has Starbucks. Giant, Weis, Hockers and Harris Teeter are all crowded during the summer season from all the vacationers. I don't like food or shopping of any kind. read more

Let's face it. This is a grocery store, so one cannot expect much. However, this is not a mom and pop store I expect more than just the basics, but they disappoint. The WiFi in the store, for example, is abysmal. They have a great app with coupon clipping and list creation, but once you enter the store the app, and the rest of your mobile device goes dead. This demonstrates to me that they are trying, but just don't get what a real shopping experience in 2024/25 should be. This is pushing me to try other stores in the area. read more

First I give the PHARMACY staff 5 stars. As for the actual store, the hourly rate is extremely low which among other things causes high turnover. In general they are friendly and helpful, the ones that do stay. I would like to see this company offer better quality items at the hot bar. read more

I absolutely love this store! Having just moved to the area I first placed an order for pick-up with them. I was very satisfied with the whole process from ordering to the lovely young lady, (Allie?) who loaded my car. The produce was very fresh. My roasted chicken was hot! Was there again late last night, the store is very well stocked and I was happy to find even the obscure items on my mental list that I didn't even know I needed. Lol! I was there yesterday around 4-5. There were no registers open. One of them didn't have his light on, I asked he said "I'm closed" ALL were self-check. Everyone was upset. We pay too much for groceries to have to check out a basket full. So ridiculous!! I almost left my basket but worked too hard to pick out all the groceries. I'll go anywhere but Giant from now on!! Three stars because nothing particularly special but nothing really wrong either. It's a grocery store. You pretty much know what you're getting into. The aisles right near the checkout lane are like a highway with people merging on and off. It never seems like there's enough space to walk around in that section of the store. I've never had a bad experience with any of the employees but I also haven't had to interact with anyone unless I have to delete an item in the self checkout or something like that. It seems like there's plenty of people working in the main section of the store because I've never had to go far to find someone if I was looking for something or had a question about a price. My favorite thing to buy here is their $5 sushi on Wednesdays. Usually I get two. Those are really good. read more

I'm absolutely disgusted with how we were treated at this giant. My family and I are brand new to Delaware and love how beautiful it is here. While we were checking out we were stared down by an older lady who appeared to be making the rudest, most disgusted, face at us. As we finished up our transactions we noticed her waving someone over. We didn't think much of it as we paid for all of our items. As we loaded our groceries in the car and were about to pull out of our parking spot we were approached by security. He stated that he needed to check our receipts because he was told that we were stealing. He checked our receipts and all of our grocery bags and confirmed that we paid for all of the items. If you value your privacy when discussing your script (and who doesn't?), you should probably use a different pharmacy. If you would like the name(s) of your medication to remain PRIVATE when picking up, you should probably use a different pharmacy. And, if you would like to be treated in a fairly courteous fashion, you should most definitely find another pharmacy. By now, most people know that HIPAA PRIVACY LAW exists to protect a patient's personal information. That would include NOT 'announcing' patient specifics. Embarassing! Negligent! Note: the pharmacists on duty have been helpful. It is other staff that CLEARLY need higher supervision and/or training. I have never seen such little discretion used in any pharmacy. Ever. As a healthcare professional, I find it unbelievable. So, if you don't want your neighbors over in the frozen food aisle to know your business, take your script elsewhere! read more

Brand spankin' new Giant that's near the heart of Bethany Beach! I really love coming to this Giant as everything is organized, the staff are super helpful and they have probably THE best bakery I've ever seen at a big chain supermarket. Honestly, this Giant's bakery is like no other Giant: they have freshly made bread, amazing cakes and tasty sweet treats that do NOT appear to come from some ready made mix. For out of towners, you must remember that DE supermarkets such as this Giant do NOT sell wine or beer. Thankfully this Giant has a liquor store (Bank's Wine & Spirits http://www.yelp.com/biz/banks-wines-and-spirits-millville ) directly across the parking lot which can help you with all your beverage needs. I have several issues with this store mostly the lack of open registers. It should not take longer to check out than it does to shop. But an even bigger gripe is the so-called gas points. It is a joke. The points can only be used at select gas stations that are few and fare between and the station in Rehoboth is always higher than everyone else so the points just offset the higher price - maybe. If you think you are getting something good with the gas points, good luck in thinking so. read more

First, to address the bad review from the person who does not understand Giant's "Gas Points". They are "Reward Points" and can be easily converted to "CASH Rewards" off your grocery bill versus using for gas. I LOVE THAT FEATURE and save money off my bill nearly every visit. Also love the online shopping and curbside pickup at this store. What could be more convenient, especially on a rainy day, than someone shopping for you. They bag it, place it all in your car at the designated time, in the designated parking spots, all for a small service fee of $2.95 whether you spend $30 or $300. read more

Re:seafood Fresh seafood, my eye. Bought "fresh" flounder today, went straight home to cook it. Fish looked slimy when girl took it out of the tray at the store. Still felt slippery and slimy, but no bad odor that I could detect. Dipped it in milk and eggs, then breadcrumbs , and started cooking it in olive oil and butter. The fish turned to white mushy slime in front of my eyes, the longer I cooked it the mushier it got. Gross! Dinner ruined, lots of pots and pans to wash for nought. I am really annoyed. I knew better not to buy seafood from Giant, but it has been a while and I didn't want to drive the distance to Harris Teeter. No more seafood for us from any Giant. read more

I didn't want to wait behind 3 full shopping carts so I just emptied my arms on a nearby closed register. I experienced one of the most uncomfortable and awkward encounters with a cashier named 'Deborah'. I was checking out my two items and came up to her and greeted her with a big smile on my face saying hi, to which she completely ignored and the only words she spoke to me were the words of my total- "6.58$". She didn't even look at me and instead had a look on her face like she hated the world and like she wanted to kill someone, it was one of the most awkwardest things ever and it was one of those moments I wanted to be swallowed up by the ground and die. I have been a customer of giant for a while and have always been fond of the staff and I've always thought giant had some of the best people working there and I've always been greeted there with smiles and polite hellos, but this certain worker was the complete opposite and it still irks me how someone like her can have a job dealing with customer service when she doesn't even know simple baseline manners!!! read more

Never trust Giant's "special's or sales" on "fresh" vegetables. Went there and got corn on the cob and we weren't even able to eat it. It was old. They should have thrown it out instead of trying to sell it. I'm really disappointed in them, maybe we should start shopping at G&E hopefully they have better produce. Wow! Completely blown away by extraordinary customer service! At 6:30 in the morning I opted not to grab a basket and dropped all of my groceries in a failed juggling act. $5 worth of blueberries went everywhere. A one Ms. Doll quickly jumped to help me. She cleaned up my mess, told me to go get a new, Fuller container of blueberries, and she was about the friendliest person I've ever met. All of this before 7:00. I parked next to the cart return. After loading the car with groceries, my younger child was putting the cart in the return spot. The outside cart employee male (7/15/17 afternoon) yelled for my son to bring it to him. He was on the other side of the return. My son maneuvered through all the parked cars to bring it to where the man just stood. Unbelievable. read more

All staff we encountered at checkout and elsewhere in the store were polite and friendly, except one staff person in the meat department. We were sold some kind of sirloin or lower grade steak as beef tenderloin ($20/lb.). I saw the pieces with gristle in the display and asked for two that were indeed visibly beef tenderloin. But, when I got home I discovered the surly staff member had given me one of the gristly pieces I did not want. I grilled it and ate it anyway because I was tired and hungry. My wife's piece was fine, but I extracted five pieces of gristle out of mine. Later I called the store to inform the meat department that they were selling other than tenderloin beef cuts labeled as such, and maybe they should look into it. The guy, maybe the same guy, was rude on the phone, telling me he had nothing to do with this and knew nothing about beef cuts since the "girls" cut the meat in the morning. He told me to go to customer service to get my money back, but I was just trying to suggest that he advise the store that better quality control is needed. I should add that I know beef, since I grew up on a farm where we raised prime beef. read more
