Giant is pretty cheap compared to the supermarkets in NYC, but is that really saying much? Anyway, when I say cheap, I'm really referring to the TV dinners and the ice cream... and basically all the stuff that fits a college student's dietary needs. However, the fruits, vegetables, and meats are pretty expensive, which I find to be kind of ridiculous. But whatever, I deal with it because I have no car and the next decent supermarket (along with 99.9% of any other decent establishments) is probably NOT in Middletown. read more

Like all Giant stores. They're brain dead now.....All Giants in the area now continue to disregard or never stock their blades.....It's absolutely stupid that ever store in the area sells razors but not the blades?? I'm done stressing over giant. I will never go to one anymore because it's so inconvenient compared to other grocery stores Oh and the prices are the highest here too! read more

I bought a package of meat labeled Ground Angus for $9.99. That evening, when I opened it, I found it to be spoiled. The next morning, before work, I took it back for a refund. It was early, shortly after the store opened, but there was a cash register open I was told I would have to come back after 8:30 when someone would be at the customer service counter. I was offered a trade, I could get another package, but I was going to be at work all day and really just wanted my money back. I was getting pissed off, because I bought the meat in good faith, expecting a safe product, but for a refund, I was expected to operate at the store's convenience. My irritation was why couldn't someone take ownership of problem and provide actual customer service as if they really cared? Why couldn't I get a refund from the cash register that was open? I had the receipt. I vowed to never spend another cent at Giant. Since then I have spent about $1000 at Weis, Wegmans and Target. Giant's stupidity over $9.99 cost a customer. read more

This is what you get when you go to the salad bar at Giant Foods in Middletown. This picture was taken at 5 o'clock in the evening on January 15,2020 this is more often than necessary and totally unacceptable. For this you get 1 star but somehow I don't think you care . read more

Way overpriced. Terrible attitude from employees. Only one lane open on a Saturday- seriously??

I shop at this store and it serves me well. If you want less kids and more manners, maybe you should shop at Whole foods or Wegmans in Lancaster! read more

Giant Food Stores - That Hugh platter is the fat and that small pan is the ham .what a waste of money. - Grocery Near Me - Middletown, Pennsylvania

This store is managed by an incompetent idiot. Ordered as always from Giant Direct got there at the appointed time to pick up my order that they CHARGED me for but lo and behold no order. They never had the order they say I showed my phone which they took a photo of OF my order and where it said my card was charged FOR the order. 12 year old working there was baffled so she gave me the order for Peapond so I could handle it and they wouldn't have to. I would not let her leave my car until called Peapod...the number she gave to me was for Walmart....go figure. After waiting outside for 45 mins I went in and confronted the manager who tried to give me a bunch of bullshit and I let him know I was not falling for it. Then he tried the "well have a GOOD holiday" ploy....buddy if they didn't give management to someone with an iq lower than 24 I would have a GREAT holiday. Shun this store, they suck. read more

Sales are misleading at best. I was chased down the street by the lady to does the balloons. I had to call and complain how rude she was on phone the store said no way not her. Then I came to get the balloons she knew the name on them and chased me to my car yelling. If you complain good luck they know there the only store in town and they don't care about you. Also they got rid of organic food but have a booze gallor. read more

this is for peak of -10 stars if I could! horrible company and system. didn't get off the delivery charge or $20 off as a first time customer. had issues setting up account that I had to call them about for starters. no biggie those things happen but then it gets worse. adding things to the cart goes ok but you will have no idea of how much your total bill will cost until after you get the food. we got a meat item that had an approximate price when adding to the cart but price goes way up once they weigh the item. ordered produce that only tells you its on of stock after you place order. the biggest pita is trying to get a hold of them! tried contacting them from the account but when you submit question it does not go through. so I called them and on hold for 27 minutes!! spent 10 minutes trying to understand their complicated way of billing after I got through. I am still convinced I'm getting the shaft even after they take off the delivery charge and 20 bucks. they use fuzzy math. bottom line you will have to check every order and make sure you are charged correctly and expect to waste a lot of time going over everything and being on hold forever! I could have gone to the store and been back in less than 40 minutes. my bad for being a lazy a$$ . I'll just go in person next time. just Google how bad peapod is, horrible reviews all over the nation! I can see why. read more

Overall they have everything you need. But it seems like everytime I go they haven't restocked their shelves. Especially by the dairy and refrigerator side of the store. But the produce they have is good. I guess its you're average grocery store. read more

If it wasnt for some outrageously high prices, I would give it four stars but theres no justification for it. Produce is decent, they have a good selection of food overall. Staff is ok, nothing great. They do have a nice self service and deli/bakery/seafood section. If you need a late night stop, necessity or craving, this is the place-- open 24 hours read more

I will NEVER shop here again. I bought some raspberries here yesterday not noticing until I got home that there were a few moldy ones in the middle and on the outside. So I called the store and they said they would replace them. I went in the next day which was as soon as I could, and went to look at the raspberries they had. In less than 2 minutes I picked out 3 more packages that were moldy. So I went and showed the manager and she basically said ok throw em out outside, we will replace them, and thanks. So I told her she wasn't hearing me. With the coronavirus going on last thing they wanted was someone eating a moldy berry from there and getting very sick from it. Mainly I was just trying to do everyone else a service of them just throwing them all out instead of someone getting sick from even just one they missed by accident ifthat's what they decided to do, leave some of them out. I mean, isn't this basically the same order of food? If you found other moldy food in open containers would you want to buy any other packages there? So they said they would look at em all and clean them out by shaking them to look for any other moldy ones to throw out. I then said they wouldn't find them all. Some of the moldy ones are in the middle of the package, as that's how the package was the day before that I had bought. And they still didn't care. So fair warning to everyone. They don't have many stars to begin with. I will never shop here again... read more

This store is absolutely terrible. The management sucks, they treat their employees bad, and the customers are even idiots. I've had more problems than I can count & am highly considering finding somewhere else to shop. read more

The cashier we had was absolutely worthless. She asked us what every single produce item was..and the one thing she didn't ask about was the peppers. I got 2 red habaneros and she charged us for 2 red bell peppers, which are obviously different with a big price difference. read more

Well, sadly, I am giving this store 2 stars. I used to get everything here. But, since they have remodeled their store they have discontinued most of the great "extras" that I liked about it. Primarily I have issues with the bakery. You cannot get a decent loaf of bread anymore. I prefer seeded rye bread. They used to make a very nice loaf. Now, they have added this "fresh" cabinet that has various styles of bread...tiny flat little loafs...how do you make a sandwich with that bread? HALF of a $4.00 loaf is too tiny for anything! The other loaf they are stocking is "seedless" and very fine, over kneaded in my opinion, BORING. Also, stopped stocking the Bays English muffins, and KC Mastepiece bbq sauce. So, I will continue to shop for staples, but, I have found I can buy some of these brands, that I prefer, online. Thanks to Amazon. So, keep it up you guys, we have options. read more

I used to shop here simply because it was so close to my apartment in the Village of Pineford, but now I go elsewhere. Aside from the stuff mentioned in the other reviews, it's just way too crowded for my tastes. It got to the point where it felt like everytime I went in there I would have to dodge people and step over them in every isle. Then you get the isle hoggers that block the whole isle while standing next to their cart debating which brand of baked beans they should buy for what seems like 10 minutes. Maybe their isles are just too narrow. Either way, it started to feel like a trip to one of the many overcrowded Wal-Marts. read more

I think a lot of their prices are outrageous, especially fresh fruits/veggies, deli and bakery. I have a friend who ended up paying $10 for a bag of grapes the other week. I'm shopping there if I can't get it somewhere else. The Sharp Shopper is a very affordable alternative if you don't mind checking dates on some items. Karns has good deals on meats. I don't see how Middletown residents and college students can afford to shop at the Giant. read more

I bought a fresh turkey and it was off even though it said not expired. I was not sure so started cooking the bird and as it cooked it did not smell like a delicious cooking turkey, but off smelling. Called store they said nothing they could do about it. Bottom line they lost all my future business over $24 bucks. I don't mind driving a few extra minutes for fresh food and good customer service at Wegmans. read more

Here's another review from tonight. I don't think I've hated a giant more than I hate this place. The only reason I keep coming here is because it's close to my house. I went in here and bought a container of their fresh baked soft chocolate chip cookies from the bakery. Got them home and tried one, they were completely stale and rock hard. Looked at the package date and 4 days old... So much for fresh baked cookies. So disgusted with this place. Obviously a manager doesn't exist or care abouy this place. Sick of spending money on their garbage. If I could give 0 stars I would. So disgusted with this place. Worst giant ever. read more

I'm giving giant one star today because I was very displeased with the fact that they sell every Ice-cream flavor EXCEPT for Cotton Candy!?!? They even sell pineapple vanilla but not cotton candy? is this a joke? I asked one of the employees for help finding it but he just ignored me and walked away? absolute disrespect. I've been craving cotton candy ice cream all damn day and I'm very disappointed in giant for not having any. read more

Not all that impressed to give it 3 or 5 stars but for a chain grocery store it is passable. The only other major supermarket near me is Weis in E-town and their prices are higher than Giant and their selection is less. However, Giant's produce almost always needs checked over carefully as does their baked goods. I've gotten items from both departments that say they were "fresh" and not expired by the date but lasted if I was lucky only a day or two before they weren't edible. However, no matter where you shop you should always check the fresh stuff carefully anyway because it is a problem I see almost everywhere. My biggest gripe with Giant in Middletown is their whole dairy/butter/egg cases almost NEVER are stocked. They put so little up at one time of items there that after only a few customers it is bare again and then it takes them hours to restock it once more. It's horrible trying to get any kind of selection in those cases. Checkout can be slow, very slow especially on busy days like Friday and Saturday because they never seem to have more than 3 and if your lucky maybe 4 registers open for lines that extend out to the isles with people with carts full to max. However, really great supermarkets are rare in this locale. I wouldn't mind paying their prices so much if their "fresh" items were actually fresh and I had a better selection of dairy/eggs/butter/organic items/organic &/or fresh produce. read more
