I decided to try curbside pickup so this review is for that This was my first time doing a curbside pickup from anywhere and the process was amazingly easy! Samantha was my shopper and she let me know two items that were out of stock (which wasn't a big deal at all) and one that she substituted which I was fine with! I arrived at 6:30 and immediately someone came out after I called to let them know I was there. It took her no longer than 30 seconds to get all of my groceries in my car- WAY quicker than I could have done! I definitely recommend doing curbside pickup and don't forget to tip the amazing shoppers for all of the work they do! read more

Did the curbside pickup for groceries, so this review is for that process. I ordered food online and the site automatically set the Verona store as the delivery site. That was fine; I don't live too far from there. On the day of pickup I was texted by Mary Ann, who identified herself as my 'personal shopper'. She contacted me a few times thereafter to verify items, suggest alternatives when needed, and to make sure I had no issue with filet mignon steaks larger than normal (Larger filets? Bring it!). She also offered the opportunity to add items I might have not thought of earlier. My daughter had to pick up for me as I was in post-covid recovery (hence my online order). That was no issue, and she informed me the pickup process was seamless. The products I got, including produce, were perfect. The bill was actually less than originally totalled, surprisingly. I guess those filets were on sale? LOL Well done, Mary Ann and Verona Giant Eagle. Thank you for getting it right! read more

I like this Giant Eagle for one reason and one reason only. It makes you work. It doesn't make things easy for you. The inside is a rather small setup, but it gives you what it needs. But what I think is best about this place is the pharmacy. You see, most people don't want to walk inside and like to use the pharmacy drive thru. Well, not here. You will still need to park. Instead of a drive thru pharmacy, they have a walk up pharmacy. The window is on the sidewalk. So, if you are already walking to the window, just take the little extra walk and go inside. They have a great selection in spite of supply shortages most likely due to covid 19, I never see them crowded. They move people really fast at checkout. Staff is always friendly. Its really convenient. read more

We always feel so welcome here. We depend on this store. I always find fantastic meat deals in the low freezers in front of the meat section. (Unadvertised) I also find great pieces of filet and it's often better than Market District and always cheaper too. This is an excellent grocery store where everyone can shop! read more

This is for the BAKERY ONLY I placed a rather large cake order two weeks in advance by phone. It was for two full and one half sheet cakes. The gentleman on the phone repeated everything back to me correctly. A week later I called again to add two additional round cakes to the order. This time I spoke to a woman who went over the entire order with me again and there were discrepancies about the flavor of the sheet cakes, icing and design from when I initially placed the order. Her and I meticulously went over the order again and I felt confident that this time it was right. Because I was having someone else pick these cakes up the day of our event, I went into the store 4 days prior to the event to pay for the order in person and again make sure it was correct. I was told at the bakery counter that they had no order for me for the day of my event, nor the day before or after. I asked the gentleman his name and he was the one who I initially placed the order with so I called him on it. He looked around and finally found it in an "undated" file. So we went over each of the order sheets one-by-one together to ensure they were correct, then he gave me the printed barcodes so I could take them to the front register and pay for them. I then brought the receipt back to him. On the morning of my event, my friend came in and they did not have the order right again. They had the 2 full sheets, but the half sheet they baked two of rather than one (if I'd wanted that I'd have ordered a full sheet), and only one of the rounds. My friend had to wait until they baked it. I thought I was being so thorough by double and triple checking my order and they still got it wrong. I will never order from here again. It just will not be worth the anxiety next time to keep calling to see if they got it right. As for the cakes - they were delicious, so if you want to buy a ready-made one, I recommend it, but placing an order? Especially a big order? I would NOT recommend Verona's Bakery to get it right. read more

Wow! This is one of the nicest Giant Eagles in Pittsburgh! I was just in there to check out the "As Seen On TV" section and noticed the overwhelming variety of groceries. I get my favorite cigarettes from the nice girls at the tobacco counter. Freshest Pall Malls in the county! On my way out I usually grab a fresh chocolate milk and a Reese's Cup too..... don't tell my doctor! read more

This store needs to be shut down. It has poor inventory which is not rotated and a staff that is complacent at best and often rude. The store is often dirty looking and aisles are not spaced well. Most prime times there is one check out lane open the others being self serve. Even in the check out lane be prepared to bag your own groceries. Just shut this store down. The location in Verona is such a difference it's amazing it's the same chain. read more

I stopped in to grab a scratch off lottery ticket on my way to breakfast, but once inside I decided to have a look around. This is a rather impressive store for the size. Everything from Produce to Frozen Foods looked fresh and very well stocked. The employees were all very nice as three different people asked if I needed help finding anything while I was there. I recommend a visit if you happen to be in the area. read more

I'm giving all 5 stars. I actually drive past a store located 3 minutes from my house to go to this Giant Eagle. They always have a great variety of merchandise and have what I want or need, the associates are personable, and have great attitudes. The check out is consistently painless. If I've had to wait in line it was always a short wait. Also, I love the fact that they don't have self-serve machines, which means that they employ people. read more

This store usually provides very professional customer service, but this morning, one of the cashiers (Evelyn M) did not display those standards. She was rude, and didn't look me in the eye and appeared to demand my advantage card and not ask for it. I know we all have our bad days, but that's not acceptable. At least be pleasant if you're working before the people. Unfortunately, she didn't represent Giant Eagle's standards. read more

I had a very negative experience at Giant Eagle in Verona, PA. Between my husband and I, we spend over $200 a week at Giant Eagle and GetGo. I live very close to this location and shop here every week because it is convenient, even though it is more expensive and I often leave with a negative experience. Recently, I lost my wallet and because of this did not have any debit or credit cards available for use. I thought I was in luck when I found my checkbook and my ID. I spent almost an hour shopping and getting the food I needed for the week. Because I have been stuck behind many people paying with checks, I knew that I could use one to buy my groceries. I was shocked to find out that I was not able to use a check for my purchase of $63.43. My husband and I have different last names and his is the name on the advantage card. Because it was different and he didn't have check cashing, I was told I could not pay for my groceries with a check. I was extremely embarrassed and upset when I had to leave my full cart of groceries. Working full time and attending graduate school does not leave me much time for grocery shopping. After leaving the store, I called customer service and was informed that I would be able to pay with a check if I got my own Advantage Card. However, when I went back into the store I was told it would take 48 hours. While I do understand that some people write bad checks, I find it amazing that a company as large as Giant Eagle does not have some sort of check verification process in place for people like me who run into extenuating circumstances and do not have a debit or credit card available for use. After this situation as well as many others, I will no longer be my spending any of my money here. I would like to clarify that the employees are not what I take issue with. It is Giant Eagle's policies and procedures. To me as a customer their policies imply that Giant Eagle does not trust me, does not value my time, and considers me unimportant. I truly believe that Giant Eagle should make their policies more well-known so that others do not spend their precious time only to be told that they can't purchase anything. I also think it is necessary for Giant Eagle to obtain some sort of check verification system or software. read more
