This is one of the larger grocery stores in town, especially since they annexed the space formerly taken up by Iggle Video. However, it always feels dirty in here for some reason. There is nothing particularly wrong with this store, but nothing particularly pleasing, either. The fact that they have free day care for your children while you shop is probably a pretty nice bonus for some parents. read more

Constant long lines, the self-checkouts never work right, no one around to help, and the cashiers literally work as slow as possible. Only go if you can afford to stand around for 20 minutes with the huge lines. read more

Avoid this location like the plague. It's always packed and always a zoo in here. Despite it's big parking lot, it can be quite a challenge to find parking during peak hours (I recommend getting a spot near the back on the entrance from Victory Dr, near the community center). Store selection is typical of any big chain grocery store. Not a huge fan of their deli or fish selections. Not as much fresh fish as I would expect, quite a bit of it is frozen. The store is pretty much all do it yourself check out, which can be annoying if the place is packed and you need someone to ID you on booze. read more

I shop at giant eagle regularly, and this location is the only one I will go to by default- it definitely is less than desirable. Day or night it seems that there are never more than 2 cashiers ringing up customers. There are usually some self checkout lines available, but often times there are decent lines there too. Appears to be understaffed every time I go there. Positives are that it is open 24 hours and they have at least 4 carts that can accommodate 2+ small children- this is a big deal! The legacy village store, which is bigger and nicer by comparison, only had 1 last time I shopped there (hence, I no longer shop there). read more

My mom and I shop here all the time. We love it. It's like a superstore. The staff is usually polite but on this particular day our cashier whose name tag read Ashante was very rude. She was so rude I couldn't believe it!! When my mom informed her that she had coupons , Ashante snapped at her and told her to wait until the end the transaction. When the transaction was over she began rolling her eyes and smacking her lips while taking my mom's coupons. She was acting like my mom was such a bother to her . I understand that we all have our bad days but if you are in customer service please don't take it out on your customers or anyone . The Mayfield Rd. location is the closest grocery store to my home. It's a shame that it's the absolute worst store I have ever shopped. This SOUTH EUCLID store is a disgrace to the Giant Eagle chain. I hope they read this, and take action! It's the worst of all their suburban stores I have visited. LONG LONG LINES, and NO CHECKERS! It is dirty, staff is apathetic -- lines are just TERRIBLE -- produce section is not clean, often has spoiled fruits & vegetables. I have declined to buy meat here several times, simply because it looked tired, spoiled or old. It's hard to find things, stuff on shelves is not arranged. The whole place simply does not look neat or clean or appetizing. Sometimes I AM forced here, because it is open 24 hours a day, and on holidays. Their other stores are nicer, but much further out of my way -- Legacy Village or Solon. The Solon store is very nice and upscale. I am forced to conclude this store is badly managed, dirty & short on staff because of the racial composition of the neighborhood; it is about 50% black. Most customers here are African American, and a lot of holdups in the lines due to food stamp cards (SNAP). I believe they have therefore decided "this does not have to be that nice, since we don't have to really compete to get this business". Shame on them! I have complained many times. It's only 5 minutes further to Heinen's, a superb quality store that is (SURPRISE!) generally cheaper overall, except on a few specific sale items. However, Heinen's (a UNION store unlike GE) is not open 24/7 or on holidays. NOTE: a lot of people tell me they deliberately shop at Giant Eagle to get the "fuel perks", a nice discount on gas. However, I ASSURE YOU you have paid for that $5 off your gasoline, by paying overall higher prices for basic foodstuffs. And that does not consider the low quality of meat and produce, surly staff, and dirty unpleasant "slum" atmosphere of the store. AVOID unless you are desperate at 3AM on Christmas Day. read more

Gag. I don't really like Giant Eagle in the first place, but this one really bums me out. I only come for the sales. I'm not into that fuel perk business. But this is really not worth the drive for me. The parking lot is a complete nightmare. Everyone just GOES and it's pretty nerve-wracking just to get some sale items that might not even be satisfactory. Speaking of unsatisfactory sale items, how about that mushy rotten fruit? Yeah? You know what I mean! The fruit here is really disappointing. Most of the time I can find something that'll be ok for a day. Eat up! Otherwise, don't expect some nice fresh produce in your fridge tomorrow. Much like the chaotic parking lot, the inside isn't the safest place to be! Slow cashiers, combined with people that just want to get in and out makes for a hectic check out area and just more stress on top of my grocery shopping experience. I leave here wishing I had brought a weapon. Oh and if you're looking for something, don't ask for help. You'll be lucky if someone offers help, but definitely don't ask someone who isn't jumping on the opportunity on their own. You'll either get shut down or misled. I was looking for a particular liqueur once and the woman just stood firmly where she was and said "Yeah, I don't know if we have that." Well, can you check?! Before the Legacy Village Giant Eagle opened, this was the upscale location for the South Euclid area. My how times have changed. This has become a big box location with poor service, and long lines. I used to be a regular shopper here until yesterday evening. Now I won't go back until they train their staff on basic customer service. Had a very rude run in eith one of their staff members at the self checkout. A friend of mine, after suffering a serious loss in the family, tried to buy some alcohol for herself. As I was there with her, I was obviously near by about to make my own separate non-alcoholic purchase. The associate, due to policy, asked for both of our IDs. Mine had recently been stolen, so I was without. He denied her the sale, as expected. But instead of being calm about it he became rude and belligerent. Treating us like common criminals in front of other customers and even going as far as body blocking the point of sale as if we would try to push through him. We were so incredibly embarrassed! What harm is there in two short women, with myself being visibly pregnant, against a much larger and indignate older man? Why try to push us away? I was even unable to make my purchase as he was blocking me from using the checkout all together. (My purchase was a few snacks.) There's a way to go about even things as touchy as denying a sale... that was simply not it!! Treat people like people, it's pretty simple stuff. Not only that, just the night before I witnessed a group of young women have a run in with this same man for not having a Giant Eagle card at the self checkout. He was just as rude! I've already spoke to a manager about the situation, but I wanted it to be known... if you want to be treated well at self checkout here, try not to go in the evening! On 12/7/17, I went to the Giant Eagle store-South Euclid, OH location. I used to shop there regularly as it was in close range to my residence and job. I have since changed jobs and the Giant Eagle-Lyndhurst location is more convenient. On this particular day, I went to the store in South Euclid as I had just been to a dentist in the area for a root canal. I had three prescriptions to fill to help with the symptoms I was to have for another few days. I went to the pharmacy in the store and was second in line. There were two registers, but only one person was attending to the customers for pick-up amd drop-off. The person ahead of me was at the register/counter for 25-30 minutes before I was able to drop off my prescriptions. I was told it would take around an hour for the prescriptions to be filled. I told the pharmacy assistant that I was in pain as the medication I had received from the dentist was wearing off. I shopped in the store for a half hour, then returned to the pharmacy. The prescriptions were not ready. By then, the Novacaine I had received from the dentist had almost completely worn off and I was in excruciating pain. I began sobbing from the pain. The pharmacist then told me she was in the process of filling my prescriptions. After another 15 minutes, the assistant rung me out. In addition to the initial 30 minute wait in line, it took a total of 70 minutes from drop-off to pick-up. I immediatly opened the prescription bottles and took the prescribed medications with a beverage I had purchased while shopping. This is the worst Giant Eagle store on the east side. Dirty floors always have have food and trash on them. Tonight was the last straw. 1 checker and 10 people in line. They called for one more checker for 5 mins before anyone came. Produce department had rotten fruit and fruit flies. No cut watermelon. Self check backed up and all needed assistance. No manager in sight. Bad attitudes and general disinterest. Don't visit this store. Make the trip to Legacy Village or Mayfield Heights. Or better yet Heinens! read more

All the comments above are a very accurate assessment of this store. The mens restroom is absolutely deplorable and disgusting. Used paper thrown aboult, sticky floor, filthy toilets, urine puddled around urinal and a putrid raw sewage odor. This has been like this for years. The employees use this facility and it makes me wonder or question the sanitation of the packaged produce and Meats? Maybe this is one reason why their produce and ground meats have an unusually short shelf life? Either way, I don't shop there anymore because of the lower quality, sanitation of the restrooms and prices. read more

Poor customer service! I took in a prescription from my dentist for a prescription toothpaste. When I picked it up, it was filled incorrectly. They gave me a prescription mouthwash with a similar name. When I pointed out the error, the pharmacy tech was very sassy about it. She said I could pick up the correct item the following day. When I returned the following day they refused to honor the price on goodrx.com. So I refused the item and transfered my prescription next door to Walgreens. Walgreens filled it correctly and honored the goodrx.com price. I will never use Giant Eagle pharmacy again. read more

A while back Giant Eagle ran and ad advertising chicken breasts "Buy one get one free" with no price given per pound, I came to find that they were charging $4.99 per pound--an unheard of price for non-organic chicken. . I was insulted at the flagrant scam they offered to entice customers into the store. Worse yet, I spoke with a representative and sent an email and no reply was given to either. This is the worst Giant Eagle I have ever been to. So disappointed because we just moved here and it's a minute from our house. Why have the lights been out in certain sections of the store for two months at least already? So you have to go shopping in the dark and then are forced to give them free labor by using the self check outs that don't work right and make everyone mad. There is one woman who works there that is helpful. The place can be PACKED and then only 4 self check outs are open and people are all backed up into the isles to just try to buy 3 items. Why is the Legacy Village one like a castle where there is a better selection and actual cashiers, but this one has rotten vegetables, bad lighting and no employees but prices are the same?
