Once a closely-guarded secret punishable by death, now spice is as easily accessible as opening the spice drawer. I've watched with interest as turmeric has been touted as a spice that has anti-inflammatory properties, aids in reducing cholesterol, helps mood, etc. I visited Love That Spice, a cute spice shop in downtown Highland Park. This is a friendly and welcoming space with premium spice and tea blends. I tried the Golden Milk Latte, which contains turmeric. They asked if I wanted to add a little honey but noooooo I had to deny myself and abstain. I regret it as I don't like the taste of turmeric. The staff was very helpful in answering my questions and preparing my drink. Next time I will have them add the honey. Love That Spice will help you to love that spice.

They had a bowl of free sample bagel chips. I took ONE bagel chip from the sample bowl. There was nothing that we wanted to purchase so after looking around for a few minutes, we exited the shop. A man followed us out to the sidewalk and yelled, can I help you with something or are you just here for the free chips?

I didn't receive anything further for a few days so I followed up with an email...no response, so I sent another email a couple of days later...when I didn't receive any response after a week, I called and waited after they answered the call and put the phone on the counter for over 5 min's so I could listen to them talking and ignoring their waiting customer, then the a-hole who eventually came to the phone tells me they don't take online orders. I wasn't sure how to respond to that other than to inform him that they, in fact, do take online orders and that he needed to check his website. The rude POS then cussed me out and hung up on me. WTF?!? Do not do business w/ these jerks!

One of my favorite things to order is their turkey and bacon sandwich. It's like a BLT but with turkey, and you can change out the bread if you choose. They have a great assortment of chips and drinks to choose from and some "sweet" impulse purchases at the cashier counter. It can be a little expensive depending on what you get and how much, which is why I don't stop in often. But it is a great place if you're craving a solid lunch meal. The great thing also is that when the weather is nice you can eat in the heart of town in Market square, which is right around the corner.

I added little more salt & pepper. The wheat bread is good but think it would be better on white. I told my sig other whenever he's nearby at lunch time, to pick me up the cucumber sando and toffee. I would eat it all the time!
