I have only needed him a handful of times, and each time went away thinking, wow, I wish all my doctors were like him. He doesn't over "treat" anything, but addresses all of your concerns. He doesn't try to sell you the very expensive shoes that all foot doctors carry, unless he feels you could really use them. I am usually one to hold off on a doctor until it is necessary, but I am about to call and see if he will see my 9 year old because she hurt her foot, and I just want to make sure it's healing OK, because I truly value his opinion. When you're a minority, you are extremely sensitive as to how you are spoken to and. treated. The former ladies in the office were kind , professional and patient The individuals who are there now are "horrible and unprofessional." They need proper training before being released to work with the public.You come to a medical office for care and compassion, not a chaotic situation. We love Dr. Giacalone, a quintessential professional. They refused to allow my son to see the doctor, because of an insurance issue and would only let it happen if a fee was submitted. The insurance issue could have been easily resolved. When I indicated that he needed to be seen by the doctor, they suggested that we visit a local "urgent care facility." It should be noted that my son has been a patient of Dr. Giacalone for the past two and one half years. I was so upset that I forgot that I too had an appointment with the doctor and was not emotionally able to stay and be seen by him. After a lengthy drive to the office in Westwood, the visit was a total waste of time.

    I strongly recommend avoiding this practice. They will try to get your money no matter what. That…read moremeans if you happen to make an appointment with them, you will not be able to get out of it. You either have to see the doctor even when you no longer need medical help or pay a cancelation fee even if you try to cancel the appointment early way beyond their so-called 'policy'. Here is my predicament. I hurt my foot during the weekend. At the time I thought I would need medical help, so around 5PM May 12, Monday, I called this office and made an appointment. They gave a 12PM appointment the next day, Tuesday, May 13. Note that this is within their 24 hour window of cancelation. There was no communications from their office regarding a cancelation fee. If I knew, I would not proceed with one. I don't want to be financially trapped like that. The next morning, Tuesday May 13, I knew I couldn't come, so I called and asked to cancel the appointment. To my surprise, they told me I cannot cancel it because it was within their 24 hour window. I was not told about this fee when the appointment was given. They told me I either had to reschedule or pay that fee. Facing with no other options, I thought I might need to be seen, I rescheduled to Friday May 16, 9:15 appointment. Over the next day, my foot improved, there was no more pain, and no swelling. So I called this office on Wednesday to cancel the appointment. Note that this is way before their 24 hour cancelation window. They said I cannot cancel it, if I do, I will be imposed a fee of $50. THIS IS ANOTHER WAY OF TELLING ME THAT I HAVE TO SEE THEIR DOCTOR WHEN I NO LONGER NEED MEDICAL CARE. THIS IS VERY UNFAIR PRACTICE AND AMOUNTS TO SCAM. Fifty dollar is not a big amount but principal is principal. They cannot just charge people if they like. People pay when service is rendered. I received no service. As a matter of fact, with the first appointment, I was given no chance to cancel my appointment because they did not inform me of this potential fee and the appointment was give within their 24 hour. The second appointment was effectively forced on me. I still tried to obey their so-called 'policy' by contacting them as soon as I can to cancel. Now they don't honor their own policy and told me they will send me a bill for that fee. I will refer this matter to the New Jersey Ministry of Consumer Affair for investigation of my complaint.
