Jo-Ann was one of many designers I reached out to, but she was the first to engage in a meaningful conversation. An appointment was set and Deidre came to my home for the initial consultation. She spent time getting to know me along with my likes and dislikes. The guidance and direction they provided was phenomenal. They both exude a calmness that helped make this all manageable. I found Alicia Paley Home Interiors by googling interiors designers in Ventura county…read more I'm so happy I found Alicia. I had quite a few choices as there are lots of designers with in our county, I couldn't be more pleased to have had the opportunity of working with Alicia. What draw me to choosing Alicia Paley amongst all others was her kitchen cover photo. I absolutely loved how she had redesigned this kitchen. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for but there was some similarities and I though this interior designer is exactly who I need. I had most of my vendors and suppliers, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted but I was in desperat need of some guidance. Im a little OCD and I need everything to be a little more uniform eg:"who wants to matche there floor to there counter tops, I do lol". With this said Alicia's guidance was much needed... From the moment Alicia walked in and we discussed the handles for my kitchen cabinets, I knew I had made the right decision by hiring her expertise. Alicia's insight on colour coordination to floor quality and everything in between was exceptional. She really helped put my mind at ease, as you all know renovations can become quite expensive and it is sometimes hard to colour coordinate everything or match everything. "Could you imagine spending all this money and not liking it in the end, I definitely couldn't afford taking that risk. " Alicia's recommendation for vendors also help me save money which is always wonderful. She also had more affordable suggestions for some of the Items that I truly wanted but really wouldn't have been able to afford in retail or custom stores. I choose Alicia's "work with me" package which was a tremendous help. I will definitely be asking for her services again once the renovations are complete to help me with furniture and decorating ideas. If you are looking for a wonderful interior designer/decorator I would strongly suggest hiring Alicia Paley Home interiors she truly is a gem . You won't regret it. Thank you so much Alicia

I cannot say enough good things about Michelle and her team at 805 interiors…read more We had never gone through a design process like this before, but we needed help with our living room, kitchen, entry way, and lounge area which were all painfully bare and empty. We knew what aesthetic was pleasing to us, but it can be hard to articulate these things and make them a reality. Michelle meticulously worked with us, sorting through example images and mood boards, to understand what we hoped to create in our home. She knocked it out of the park, creating multiple design options for each room. We chose the option we liked most for each room. We loved working with her team so much, we brought them back for a second round to design our child's playroom. I come home every day feeling blown away by how beautiful our home is. It is our sanctuary. No other space in the world compares. I want to compliment her and her team on a few things: - They are incredibly patient with listening to your feedback and ideas. They have a great deal of experience and therefore offer design ideas or source pieces you would never think of. Through this process, a beautiful expression of what you're hoping for in your home is created. - They are utmost professionals with logistics. On install day, there is not a thing to worry about. You will leave for work and come home to a completely transformed space - installed chandeliers, beautiful high-quality furniture, hand-chosen accessories such as books and vases, expertly applied wallpaper, and fresh flowers. A beautiful finished product with not a cardboard box or screw driver in sight. - They are flexible and adaptive to cost restraints. On our second project with them (the playroom for our son), we were not as interested in high end furniture pieces because this was more a space for our child to be rambunctious in. Keeping these goals in mind, they still created a gorgeous space and the perfect play room for our little boy. If you're having any hesitation or second thoughts about hiring this team, do not think twice! I don't have a single complaint or negative thing to say. They are wonderful, kind, creative, adaptive, and most importantly get the job done well.

She seemed friendly and knowledgeable. Since her price was competitve and the photos on her website met my criteria, I told her that I would be calling her soon to schedule an appointment for the weekend. And so I did about 4 p.m. Wednesday at which time she asked for my number and said she would call when she was finished with her customer. At 5:45, I called again leaving a voicemail (she has no hours posted online). By 2p.m. the next day I called again and left a message with her employee. Later that day, received a voicemail apologizing profusely, saying that she did not have her calendar with her and she would call about 8:30 p.m.. Of course, no call. Don't know what her problem is and frankly don't care. Leslie if you're too busy or too rich to serve a client, have the decency to call and explain. That is just common courtesy.

Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience with Focil Construction. I should have known that…read morethey were not trustworthy when they verbally made promises (such as the renovation would be complete by Thanksgiving) but then wrote a different date (end of December) into the contract. When I questioned why the contract said end of December, Joseph told me that the contract required adding an additional month. When I received the schedule of work, that too said the project would be completed by the end of December. I was not living yet in the property and renting, so the additional month added another $2,300 onto the project that I wasn't expecting. I asked for them not to charge me for additional fabrication and installation of the stone which they refused but they did end up finishing by the end of November so that I could get my furniture out of the rental so that I would not be charged for another month. This was not the only reason I began not to trust them any longer. I ordered the stone through the family of a friend, and the owner of the store asked for the name, address and phone number of the fabricator. I asked Catalina for this information. She gave me the correct address because the stone needed to be delivered there; however, she lied about the name of the fabricator. As you can see in the screenshot, she said the name was Israel when it's in fact Olympus. She supplied her own phone number as the number of the fabricator. Anytime I see lying, I wonder the motive, and I start to question everything. In addition, on the contract, the square footage was greater than the entire area of my condo. Again, I had questioned this when I signed the contract and Catalina assured me that I would only be charge for work done. I later had to argue with Joseph to get him to reduce the amount he was charging to the actual square footage which I estimated by taking the number of boxes of wood and multiplying by the square footage per box. Joseph told me that they used every single piece of wood in every box, but, as you can see in the attached photo, there was a box still sealed that had not been used. If I had not questioned this, it would have been $700 more. When I began to question the integrity of Joseph and Catalina, I did more research. The amount of glue needed for the wood floor is 30-35 square feet per gallon. I confirmed this with another flooring installer who works for the friend from whom I purchased the wood floor. In the attached, you will see that I was charged for 8 bucket of glue (5 gallons in each bucket) at $207 each. That is literally twice the recommended amount for the 650 square feet of wood that they installed. Also, I provided 4 buckets of the same glue for the padding that went underneath the floor. At $207 each bucket, I was overcharged more than $800. This led me to question the linear square feet of baseboard which I just got done measuring. I was charge for 240 square feet; however, the linear square footage of what I measured was 160 square feet, quite a difference and an additional charge of almost $500. There was an additional issue with the electrical outlet for the refrigerator. The appliance store was not able to install the refrigerator, because the cord would not reach to the outlet where they had placed it. I ended up having to pay for an additional visit from the appliance store ($75). I asked Joseph if he would reimburse me for this since he was responsible for installing the outlet in the correct location. He never responded to me. I definitely feel that Joseph and Catalina took advantage of me and my lack of knowledge and experience with renovation work. I wasn't able to catch all of the overcharges before paying for them, and it added to the already exorbitant cost of the renovation. I wish I had gone with a different contractor.

JRP removed all doubt. They first built our kitchen, which people often say looks like something straight out of a Japanese Michelin restaurant. A year later, we brought them back to rebuild the rest of our home including bedrooms, bathrooms, living room, family room, and backyard patio. We received every detail both JRP and I could think of, including things most people skip over like kerfed door jambs, mudded in vents, and trimless smoke detectors, and JRP delivered flawlessly. The result is beyond what we hoped for and honestly a bit inconvenient now because everyone keeps telling us to submit our home to Architectural Digest :) We are immensely thankful to the entire JRP team for their craftsmanship, patience, and commitment to making our vision a reality. I've recommended JRP to everyone who has asked and will continue to do so without hesitation.
