I'm guessing the building used to be a bank, and there's a part with clothes racks where you can walk in to the vault. I never noticed it before this trip, strangely enough, but it's very intriguing.

Super cute store in downtown Holland…read more We we're exploring Holland on a chilly, fall day and wandered in here. Full of knick knacks, home accessories, crafting stuff, platewear, etc. It's a nice place to stop for kitchy stuff, if you're into that kind of thing. The people working there were SUPER friendly and one gave us a history lesson of the space - it actually used to be a bank, and the vault currently houses their Christmas decorations. Neat stuff.

My sister and I spent a long weekend in Saugatuck, but we stopped in Holland before heading there,…read moreto explore the shops and have lunch. I'd been through years ago, in college, but don't remember much about it back then. Now, it's a really cute town, and the main shopping area was filled with great little independent shops. We stopped in at The Blackbird, and were immediately reminded of one of our favorite places, Cedarburg, WI, where the town's old woolen mill was turned into cute little shops. It even smelled like the Cedarburg shops (they sell yummy smelling candles at the Blackbird)! In any case, the shop may not be for everyone, but my sister and I love all things bird, and there were a lot of bird themed items, from figurines to useful things like hooks and hanging racks, etc. They had some really nice area rugs and a huge variety of artwork, most with more "country" inspired themes, so again, it may not be to everyone's taste, but I'm pretty eclectic, and love antiques and sleek modern things. If my boyfriend hadn't put a moratorium on the number of tchotchkes I can bring into the house, I'd have gone to town shopping! Instead, I only purchased the cutest children's book for the children of a friend (Memoirs of a Hamster), and a Warren Kimble pillow with a rabbit on it, for a bunny loving friend's upcoming birthday. If I'm ever in Holland again, I will definitely stop in to the Blackbird, and hopefully buy something wonderful for myself!

And they have tons of choices for dips, drink mixes, soups, breads.....SO many great & beautiful finds to decorate your home!! I actually haven't been in a while because I've been sick so I learned that they have a new manager named Oke! She helped me pick my teas, which is why I was there. She was so incredibly helpful/knowledgeable about the tea flavors, asking what I liked & was looking for specifically. I love that she was able to direct me towards flavors I hadn't tried before based upon what I like. SUPER, SUPER NICE! Love that she asked about what I'd like to see in the store! The front staff, Bella helped me pick out some delicious dip, which I am eager to try! The store is definitely one of my favorites! The staff is so kind, every time I come in, it makes for a wonderful shopping experience! Ladies I will definitely be back!!

Although the man running the cash register was adorable, the people at the inappropriately named "help hub" were not only entirely unhelpful, they were also quite disagreeable - borderline rude - they responded to my friendly greeting with hostile stares, and it was downhill from there.

I went inside to tell the man at the front desk I was overloaded by their team. I was not going to pay the difference and asked to trade the additional yards I was given for clean wood chips for a playground. Man behind the desk says sure, tells me to pull back to get loaded. After waiting 15 mins to be loaded I had to go inside AGAIN to ask to be loaded. Man called not 1 but 2 people back to load me up with chips. Upon this happening, I went inside to see the difference in price if I owed them or was going to have money coming back to me. Man, then asks me again how many chips I was loaded with. I confirmed 2 1/2 yards, which is what I returned from being overloaded by his team. The man then looks at me, hops on the phone and asks them how much they loaded me with. They then confirmed 2 1/2 yards (exactly wtf I asked for.) Then hangs up the phone and proceeds to look at me and says, "I guess you weren't lying." Then proceeds to ask if I wanted my 52. cent refund. If you want shit ass customer service and a company that doesn't know wtf they're doing, feel free to shop here or give these idiots a call. Don't expect to get any money owed back to you either as they ask if you ever want your refund. Will never come back here and will be sure to tell all of my clients to steer clear of this shit hole.
