Our guide, Brandon, was super. Knowledgable, friendly, helpful. His enthusiasm for the place and the work was evident. Was willing to go at our pace - both faster and slower - depending on what we were trying to do or see. We had tall people in the group and he helped us with kayaks that were a better fit. Great experience.

Avoid this place at all costs - a disappointing and concerning experience…read more We honestly cannot understand how this place has so many positive reviews. If you care even a little about animal welfare, you will immediately notice that something feels wrong when you arrive. This place feels like a tourist machine rather than an authentic ranch experience. Dozens of horses are lined up, already saddled, and spend the day tied up waiting for the next group. There are no real pastures around. The horses that are not tied are kept in small pens, with no grass and far too many horses in a limited space. As an experienced rider, I was extremely disappointed by the ride itself. We paid $260 for an experience that was advertised on their website as a way to see wildlife. This was the main reason we chose this company. After only five minutes on horseback, I asked our guide what animals we might have the chance to see. His answer was very honest but incredibly disappointing: he told us we would probably see nothing because the trails are used dozens of times every day and animals avoid the area. Ironically, we saw a moose and a weasel less than a mile from the ranch on the road. The "Big View Grand Teton" ride ($140 per person) is honestly just a basic out-and-back trail. You start in a completely flat open area, then do a short climb through the forest to reach a mediocre viewpoint, before going back down through almost the exact same scenery. The entire ride is at a walk. No one asked about our riding experience; horses were simply assigned when we arrived based on our height. Of course, the whole ride was at a slow walk, which made the experience incredibly boring for anyone who actually knows how to ride. For the price, the scenery was not memorable, the experience was not authentic, and the promise of seeing wildlife was completely misleading. If you are looking for a true Western horseback experience, go somewhere else. Stay at a real ranch for a night or more, and you will have the opportunity to ride for several hours through much more beautiful and varied landscapes, while supporting places where horses have a better quality of life. This place was a huge disappointment and, in our opinion, not representative of what a real ranch experience should be. It is truly a shame to see that, in 2026, some establishments are still treating horses this way. These animals deserve much better than being treated as a simple tourist attraction.

We had two guides on a four day fishing tour and each day was a different experience. We were pairs with a new guide every day and they all really knew their stuff. The area, weather wise made each day different but each guide made the best of it. I would say, overall the pro shop was well kept and clean and full of different items for purchase but getting down to the nitty gritty for fishing, exploring the areas best spots and each guide knowing their way around the area and really giving us the gold standard for treatment, I really felt it was a place I would want to return time and time again. Even if you just want to get a1-2 or4-5 day trip in, you can't beat Henry's Fork Anglers guided tour.

Even with wild winds, we were able to get close to big fish and see a lot of action because our guide knew what he was doing. The first question he asked us was how long we had been fly fishing and what we wanted to do. Then he delivered. He was very enthusiastic and knew how to fish in the conditions that we were dealt. I have been fly fishing for 20 years. With what I learned from Pierce, the next day on the ranch I was able to get seven (7) large fish in one hour. That is the best I have ever done on Herriman Ranch. Next year when we come back, I will ask for Pierce. The attached photo is one that I took of my fishing partner and Pierce. I was in the high 40s with wild winds when we caught that trout.

He was a PHENOMENAL guide! He was extremely patient, knowledgeable, and just straight up, cool as hell. From the first few minutes he had us on fish. He also had us bring our EURO rod so we could learn to use it and fish some faster sections using it. He taught us so much about the Euro rod and techniques to use with it. My girlfriend caught the biggest German Brown of her life! I know for a fact he used his own personal flies even though we got 24 flies included with the trip. Really appreciate him. The one drawback of the trip was they forgot to pack the meat for our sandwiches! Fortunately chase brought a ton of pasta and was kind enough to share it with us! Would never book anywhere else other than Three Rivers if i return to Idaho for another run on the snake. Will double check for the meat next time though!

My brother in law (thanks Tate!) took me for the day to float the river and learn to fly fish. Upon our arrival we met with guide Chad who gave me a quick lesson on the lawn out front of the fishing shop. This 10 minute lesson was so effective that it set the tone for the rest of the day. The fishing shop is beautiful with couches, a fireplace... and more flies (artificial fishing flies) than your local dump. I purchased my fishing license and we were off. Chad ( and as I can assume all of the guides ) made me feel like a pro even though it was my first time out on the river. We got a TON of bites and it was clear that this ranch is located in the heart of trout country. It is important to note that I was there as a family friend for the day, and did not experience the full overnight cabin experience.... and I am truly sad I didn't get to see this ranch's full potential. The cabins were beautiful and surrounded a common clubhouse with a full kitchen (and chefs of course) full bar, old style piano, and the feeling of good 'ol fun. I can imagine how relaxing it would be to come back from a full day of fishing to have a nice dinner and a drink while relaxing in the clubhouse. A night of quiet cabin sleep, and then back on the river with a guide the next morning. A MUST for any fisherman (or woman) in the area. Make the trip, stay the night and prepare to mount up some amazing memories.

We evaluated over 100 ranches and determined that we were interested in a full service guest ranch close to Yellowstone National Park. We then narrowed our list down to three and Crossed Sabres came out on top. Our phone conversation with Owner Kenny Long sealed the decision for us. Our trip was everything we had hoped it would be and more. We rode horses into the surrounding Absoroka Mountains every day, we did a full day tour of Yellowstone, we learned how to fly fish and how to squared dance, we shot skeet, and I white-water rafted. We even traveled into Cody one evening for the rodeo. All of that was awesome. But it was the people who made it special. Kenny, Laura, and Garrett Long do a great job with their ranch and they have a wonderful crew of wranglers and staff that made our stay so enjoyable. The food and the service was top notch. The other guests were amazing and we made some great friends. It was without a doubt one of our best vacations ever! We highly recommend Crossed Sabres Ranch!!!

What sets this ranch apart from others I have been to Is the variety of activities available both on the ranch and off . We loved the all inclusive nature of unlimited horse back riding, fly fishing . BB gun shooting , hiking , and down time just playing games ( fooseball , Pool, chess etc) at the ranch. We equally enjoyed all the included outings off site - the full day trip to Yellowstone, an afternoon of white water rafting, rodeo in Cody. Loved the variety of riding trails and customization of each ride to each riders level. Ranch is small enough that our kids could explore and meander about with little supervision. The independence they were given at the ranch can't be duplicated in our big urban city and was a priceless experience for them to have. Amazingly refreshing for the whole family to be in a place where there is no cell / internet service ( except for in an emergency situation - it's available in the lodge but none of the guests seemed to use it ). We unplugged and bonded, read, relaxed, took part in everything and enjoyed our week at the ranch immensely. Tips: bring a warm parka jacket ( was cold even mid June), despite the forecast saying it was a high of 70, most days felt very cold in the mornings warming up by late afternoon, bring a raincoat, bring a long sleeve swim shirt and or other fast drying clothes for the rafting trip ( you will get wet). Bring a cute western outfit or 2 for the square dance night and final dinner. Come with a good, down to earth attitude ( this isn't the four seasons) and be ready to mingle- this is a very social place. Be aware the overall staff employed is young and inexperienced and green ( many 18-20 years old) so you might not have a typical 5 star service experience at all time. For the most part though. the staff was kind and friendly and accommodating. Additional shout outs to Jayden ( aka skippy) who DOES provide a five star service experience with every interaction and Garett who my kids loved playing pool and bags with and Mary whose food was consistently very good. Overall, a big 5 star experience and memories made that will last a lifetime for us and our children. Highly recommend!!!
