Edit: Received this…read morecompliment from the owner, calling my review phony and re-assuring me how great his food is: "All we have to say to this phony review is "Voted best burger in WNY by Yelp 2014". It's pb&bj=WTF" Not a good way to respond to criticism in my opinion, so I'm adding it to the review and also lowering from 2 stars to 1 star based on the accusation that my 100% honest review was "phony". Actually should have been a 3 originally because I almost never rate family-owned businesses less than 3 out of common courtesy. Having said that most family businesses don't come out and call me a liar. Also based on that response, I definitely won't be giving it the benefit of the doubt and giving it another try, regardless of how much some of my friends, or the people of WNY, or the owner himself, loves the food here. ***** I had a seizure when I tried this food. My friend suggested they change their name to Foaming Buffalo because one taste and I was foaming at the mouth in disgust. But seriously, no. I really, really, really don't like this place. I had half a burger - which compared to Vizzi's or Ruzzine's or Mooney's (or even a Big Mac) was very disappointing. I had my own order of "Buffalo Poutine" because it sounded so exciting! And it was so damn expensive too grr. So Buffalo Poutine is basically... really bad french fries that taste like frozen oven fries. Really bad crumbly bleu cheese on top of them. That tastes awful. And then some very sharp tasting Frank's Hot Sauce poured all over them. The end. I couldn't taste any butter in the sauce at all. It tasted (a) awful, (b) lazy, and (c) how much did I pay for this omg? And so because of the price and the very high rating from everyone else and how thoroughly disappointed I was, I have to give them an awful rating. I've said this again and again but Buffalo food trucks are reeeeally not that good in the main and they're also very overrated (Lloyd's, I'm looking squarely at you). I'm not one of those people who thinks that food trucks are automatically a lower standard than restaurants. I LOVE food trucks. Nobody loves them more, I might even say. My 2nd fave place to eat in Seattle and in San Diego: food trucks. A Taco Bus and German Mariscos Taco Truck more specifically. And Tazo Nazo in Columbus. Omg one of the best ever. And then there's the Halal Carts, especially Sammy's, and Biryani Cart, all in NYC. Some of my fave places in Rochester and Philly are trucks. My fave in Pitt? India On Wheels food truck! Cleveland? SETI's baby! I am used to getting incredible food from trucks. So I have the same standards for trucks as I do from non-trucks. And I like dirt-cheap regular places and dirt-cheap trucks, it's not about how fancy it is. But no. It didn't do it for me. At all. I might even say that for all I care, this truck should go Roaming from Buffalo and stay Roaming. PS The star attractions here are a Bison Burger (I can never bring myself to eat Bison meat or pay $8 for another bad burger from here), and a WTF burger (which is a PB & J burger - edit - the owner is annoyed that I said PB & J instad of PB & BJ. Sincere apologies). Let me just make this clear. I think PB & J is awful, I think the fact that it's a legitimate sandwich and/or meal here is awful, and every time I see it on a menu I roll my eyes. Why not serve "Kraft Mac N Cheese" burgers then? How about a "Brownie" burger? (More awful American things I can't stand). So you get the idea. No, I'm not going to try their 2 specialty burgers because then I'd probably end up lowering it to a 1. The regular burger gets a 3, the poutine gets a 2, and the fact that it's so overpriced and overrated evens out to a 2 overall.

After finally getting a chance to come back here to try their Bison burger, this review gets an…read moreoverdue update. You ever crave a perfect burger from a truck? Roaming Buffalo has the solution. Not only do they grill a perfect cow, but the BISON burger they sometimes have is mouth-shatteringly delicious. It's lean, scrumptious and even a bit healthier. Sure, you pay a premium price for it, but at $8 -- it's still a steal. The husband and wife owners who run this truck are great people as well. Valerie, who takes care of the orders is really friendly and her energy gets you excited for the food. Christopher, the chef -- is a true burger maestro. Their PB & Bacon Jam takes them 8+ hours to prepare and he put some of it on the bison burger, along with some tomatoes, onions and lettuce. The tomatoes I tasted were very flavorful and the other vegetables tasted very fresh. The PB & Bacon Jam is a great condiment for the burger, but only if it's cooked medium rare, otherwise it tastes a bit too dry for me. If you haven't had a chance to get a burger from here, you're missing out. Roaming Buffalo does it right.

Loose Cannon and Adrian were amazing to work with! I had a dream of having a late night food truck…read moreat my wedding reception and Adrian made that a reality in such an easy and flawless way. He made us a specialized menu that was so delectable that when the DJ announced it I watched a guest RUN out of the room to get food and then GO BACK again later in the night. In fact, multiple people thought the food was so good that they ordered twice (the truffle fry poutine was especially popular). Adrian was super flexible and accommodating and stayed late so all my guests and the wedding party could be fed even though he had an early morning food truck festival the very next day. It was honestly incredible and so easy. If you're thinking about a food truck, go with Loose Cannon!

Yesterday was a bad time for…read moreme because I thought it would be a good idea to eat at 3 separate food trucks (it's the day after and I still feel too full to move). Maybe the biggest problem with what I did was stop last at the Loose Cannon Food Truck. This food truck is next level to say the least, why you ask? Because you get chicken, mashed potatoes, and gravy inside of a friggin' waffle cone.....sorry, i started drooling. I'm baffled as to how nobody was in line for this truck because I was able to order and start eating this beautiful cone in under 4 minutes. I fell in love with this thing after the first bite. The large juicy chicken chunks on the top are delicious and it only gets better from there. The cone starts to get soft and when you mix that was those yummy mashed potatoes, well, you find heaven in food form. I highly recommend anyone coming to food truck Tuesday's or anyone who visits there site and finds out where this truck is (I might start doing this regularly) comes and checks this innovative truck out, you won't regret it!

I never complain but when your standing in line a long time like you do at food truck Tuesday this can get annoying quick. Well last week I thought I'd try again, I looked up their items online to see what they looked like and decided the pineapple red curry chicken on jasmine rice looked amazing! I ordered and they said about 15 minutes, not bad I had stood inline over 1/2 an hour. Well they were taking so many orders and putting them on a pile and then they put them in front of the cooks backwards so now I waited over another 1/2 an hour and food trucks were ending and being told by security they had to stop taking orders. By the time I finally got my dish it looked like soup - I asked the lady and she says well yeah it's kind of a soup...everyone in line around me said that is not how it looks and they ran out of rice a while ago but we're still charging people full price including the 20 that ordered after me. So disappointing- it wasn't good at all. Hoping to find a good Thai restaurant in the future.

Serving up everything from different rolls, Thai wraps to traditional Pud Thai (at around $6), they are filling an ethnic food niche that a lot of food trucks have forgot about. I tried the Pud Thai here at Food Truck Tuesday's @ Larkin Square and remember that the noodles were cooked well with tender fresh pieces of chicken. Love this new addition to the Buffalo food truck scene and can't wait to try more from them!

No sir, umbrellas abounded, as folks meandered from truck to truck, sniffing the air for answers to what's cookin', tempting them to certain trucks. It rather smelled like the fair, in a GOOD way, food scents wafting by, mingling with each other as giddy people paid no attention to each other or even their cell phones in an effort to decide which truck to order from. BBQ? Vietnamese? Sweets? Mexican??!! Greek? Oh boy, what fragrant air filled the Eastern Hills Mall parking lot on Transit Road this day. What a concept! If only the trucks lined up like this, like a train, one after the other, once a month instead of annually. Boy, it was our lucky day! We just happened to stumble upon the line up. I knew I must try the Black Market Food Truck, for they served the most awesome food at the Yelp Elite International Institute event recently and I knew I'd find my way to them once again. Today I tried the corn and black bean hummus, and it was delectable with a bite, and beautifully presented, and from a TRUCK! Little slanted slices of crispy dipping bread was alongside the cupful of hummus. Mister ditched the umbrella and hoofed it quickly to Lloyd's and oh my, was that burrito nummy! He ordered the one with braised beef and it was so flavorful, just like home cooked beef, and I seldom eat beef. Rolled in a 12" tortilla, with rice, black beans, a jack/cheddar cheese blend, finely shredded cabbage, chimichurri, and salsa roja it was perfectly spicy and delicious, a plentiful portion of goodness. And for $6.50? Hands down the best burrito I've tasted. We splurged on a Mexican Coca-Cola, super yum taste from childhood, before "corn syrup" took over the real sugar ingredient around these parts. In this inclement weather, not one server had a scowl, all were cheerful and happily serving it up from high upon their truck-turned-order-window. Kudos to all who work the food trucks, may you prosper with such ingenuity and hard work. As in many of my posts, give these non-chain folks the business, they have way more at stake than a fast food joint. Reward them with your patronage! Follow them on their websites and spread the word; give your fellow residents, friends and neighbors the chance to thrive. And Eastern Hills Mall, hellooooo, you folks have done so much for the community since new management took over. How about bringing in the trucks on certain Saturdays, monthly, at least? Pretty please?!

So as not to overestimate, when calculating Maths, I usually think it's better to "Round Down", but…read morethis food truck festival believes otherwise. I'm sure they'd love me to "Round Up" to a 4, but I can't. Larkin Square has the same issues (massively overpriced with really low standards), but their selection is magnificent (40 to 50 per Tuesday), and they have the influx of Rochester trucks to improve the quality - the Buffalo ones are awful for the most part. I must have spent a good $50 just trying to sample 6 or 7 of these food trucks, which I think is preposterous. Almost everything I ate was average or just really, really bad. The Black Market Food Truck was one enjoyable exception. I wrote reviews of most of these trucks, and then was sent abuse by the owner of my least fave of the trucks I tried - Roaming Buffalo. Plus it was outside and we all got soaking wet as well as ripped off. Despite all the negativity I associate with this event, it's still a bunch of locals trying to get by, and it's still a food truck rodeo in a town that didn't have food trucks for a long time. So I'll give it a 3. But the standard needs to go way up and the prices need to go down, in order for me to ever give food trucks my repeated business in this city.
