The perfect place to stay if you want to feel like a New Orleans Local…read more Situated just two blocks away from the French Quarter and just steps away from the hot jazz clubs in the Faubourg Mariginy, this historic 135 year old home is located in a safe and trendy neighborhood and has all the amenities and rooms you can ask for--free WiFi (so you can browse the net for hotspots to visit in New Orleans), Cable TV (even though all the entertainment can be found right outside your doors), Formal Dining Room (to enjoy those Cajun cooked meals), Massive Modern fully-equipped Kitchen with a dishwasher (to cook all those Cajun meals), large open patio complete with fountain and palm trees for shade (perfect for an outside meal), and much much more! There is also a detached bathroom with a claw foot bathtub and a toilet with an elevated cistern and chain (so-classic!), and well maintained hardwood floors that run throughout the entire house. This place is PERFECT for a fun family vacation. It can accommodate a group of 10 for a fraction of the price than you would pay for a hotel in New Orleans. All the bedrooms and bathrooms come complete with linens and towels. What's also great about this home is that it's located in a central location--just outside of the busy touristy area, yet close enough to walk around to all the sites the French Quarter has to offer. There is also a great Restaurant open 24 hours (5 days a week) right next door, in case you want a late night or early morning meal. You pretty much have everything you need at The Bouligny House. Overall, this is a PERFECT place to call your Home away from Home. I will most certainly be coming back to stay here during my next trip to New Orleans. First of all it's beautiful (we had both the big house and the apartment), but the location is incredible. It is 2 blocks off Bourbon but is so quiet you would never know it. About a 10 minute walk to the French Market and 3 blocks to Frenchman Street. There is a nice restaurant 1/2 block away, Horn's, and Port of Call (WOW!) about 3 blocks away if you just want to chill at least one night. We were there for 10 nights and didn't want to leave. We cannot recommend Bouligny House highly enough. If we could give it 10 stars, we would. Before we left, everyone said "We want to return for next St. Patrick's Day". I 100% wish we had stayed at the St Philip the entire trip. It's quiet and very accessible by foot to every corner of the French Quarter. Our room was 3x the size of our Frenchmen room for the same price, and I was surprised that we actually utilized the kitchenette (which is well stocked with utensils and dishware etc, plus the coffee maker in the room is a plus). The hotel itself is silent which can be hard to find, and I was surprised how much I valued the quiet after 2 nights of Frenchmen street. The only drawback is a lack of parking. There is a lot on Elysian Field (6/7 blocks away) that the desk clerk recommended that's only $20/24 hours but you do need to walk back and put more money in the meter daily, which in the middle of summer in the middle of the day can be an arduous task - to maximize your $20, stay as close to the same time as when you first check the car in (first payment at 3pm, the 24 hrs expires at 3pm the next day). I did see plenty of parking tickets on windshields and a car with a boot all over so, parking laws are definitely enforced. Just as an aside, most hotels with parking or a valet service run $30+/nightly plus you have to tip the driver so $20 is a steal. All in all, the St Philip is a unique, affordable, very comfortable hotel in the heart of the action.

It is tastefully furnished, pristine, and has the feel of a luxury hotel. Everything from the impeccable interior design to the beautiful walled-in-courtyard seemed designed for our every comfort and ease. We felt like we truly had found the best of homes in New Orleans when we stayed here during Mardi Gras of 2016. The space is close to the action (near many excellent restaurants, coffee shops and retail spaces in the Bywater itself, and within easy walking distance or a short cab or Uber ride to the French Quarter). But at the end of a long day of exploring and revelry, I cannot express enough how wonderful it was to come home to this clean, well-lit space where we could relax in comfort. As spectacular as the cottage is, it is also spectacularly managed. It was very easy to book, and the owner has provided an incredibly detailed property overview and recommendations about area eateries, bars, and other attractions that is very useful. He had thought of everything we could have needed. We have been to New Orleans many times, and this is our first choice for lodging in the city. It is by far the most beautiful and best-run vacation rental that we have ever used and we plan on returning again and again!

We booked a 2-day guided trip for four to catch redfish. We were disappointed, to say the least…read more We all know how to fish, so were not expecting a lot of help with equipment or baiting hooks. However, having fished charters in Florida, Alaska, and Hawaii, this is the first time we have ever had to compete with our guide to catch fish. Never before have we even been with a guide who actively fished, but instead took care of his guests and kept them on the fish. The Captain stood in the prime angler's spot on the front deck next to the trolling motor - he had a remote, but chose not to use it, for what ever reason. His line was always the first one in the water, and he fished virtually every new area ahead of any of those of us paying for the trip. He did, reluctantly, put his gear aside for a quick reset if one of us asked for help, or to net a fish for us. Otherwise, it was as if he was going fishing, and we just rode out on the boat with him. He never put us in any area where there was a lot of activity; we would fish a non-productive area until we would finally all sit down and wait for him to look for another spot. We did catch some fish, but not much compared to the photos on their website of other groups with their captains on those same dates. Also, he did not dress the flounder properly that we caught, and the restaurant couldn't cook it for us. The second day, we just gave him the fish we did catch; I think he caught about 5 himself, and the rest of us caught about that many. With a paid trip for four, one of us had to sit out since the Captain kept fishing ahead of us. I was offered minimal compensation not to post this review. I told the owner I would not post it if they wanted to refund 1 full day of guided fishing as we had paid for two. They declined, so here it is.
