As someone who grew up with my grandma I always liked helping older people. When I was 16 my sister got me a job at an aged cared home in Melbourne. I purely got the job because my sister was a manager. Fast forward a decade and I went to get a managerial job and I was told I needed to get a qualification. This was such a joke as I have more experience than any of the kids who were graduating university or tafe. I was really annoyed and thought my career was at a stand still.
One night while out with some old friends, they told me about this thing called RPL. I'd never heard of it before. Anyway, I googled it and found that get qualifed Australia was the industry leader.
I called up and spoke to one of the staff and they told em that because of my background and experience that I had I could easily get RPL for a diploma of aged care. I got that and also got RPL for the advanced diploma of disability.
After handing in my resume and the staff their speaking to my previous manager, they gathered evidence and I was fully qualified in just under 4 weeks. I've never dealt with any other agency, and the truth is, I wouldn't want to. If I was to do RPL for anything else, I'd certainly go through GQ Australia and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to NOT go back to uni or tafe to get qualified.
The *only* downside to dealing with them was that I had to make a few calls to ensure my paperwork had gone through. As it turns out though, I'd given them my old mobile phone number so it was kinda my fault.
