First off, there are a lot of international students that go here. Don't get me wrong, there is a fair share of Aussies as well but you will meet a lot of people from different countries.
As an exchange student who was only here for one semester, it was an okay experience (hence the 3 stars). I took marketing 100 (principles of marketing), environmental science 201 (australian values and ethics), finance (BAFN) 200 (principles of finance), and legal 101 (intro to australian business law). The lecturers I had were pretty awesome. They definitely knew what they were talking about. On the other hand, did they make sure we understood the concepts? not really. They basically just went by the book and lectures started becoming pointless to attend.
The tutors I had were pretty interesting to say the least. They were at times the same as the lecturer (in 2 of my classes they were the same person) but they basically reinforced what was stated in class.
Overall, for the amount of learning I did, I'd give them a 3-star. I have the Australian Consumer Law stuck in my head forever.
Campus Life: didn't really experience much of it. There were a few clubs that were introduced the first day but I never bothered to follow up on them because they didn't interest me so not much to say about that.
Campus Scenery: It's just one main building and then multiple classrooms scattered around the block/around Pacific Highway. Nothing special there. There is a designated smoking area though.
The library: I spent a lot of time in this place. They have a lot of resources available for students and a lot of space for students to study. They have a decent amount of books as well for research (although I never used those). The only complaints I have about the library was that they turned up the air conditioning way too high and I would get goosebumps while studying in the basement. BRRRR. and there are very limited amounts of electrical plugs so you have to find the right spot if you want to charge something. Also, they say no eating but no one really cares. The front desk helps students with check out and they do lend out high-demand text books for 1,3,7 days and ipads as well as charger for the iphone 4 (for now, they are working to get iphone 5 chargers). There are a large amount of computers for students who need it. I like how you can reserve a computer online beforehand so you know whether there is space or not.
Overall, I'd still give the library 3 stars because of the temperature and lack of electrical outlets.
Overall, not a bad uni. 3-stars! woohoo! read more
