Got a call while at work on Wednesday, which was not acceptable since I'd already told them on Monday I'd be working Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday at a job that I really couldn't take calls at. Did call them back at earliest convenience on Wednesday, which I immediately apologized for since I realized it was almost 6 pm. Thursday morning as I'm going out the door at 7:03, they call again. I tell them earliest is 4 that day or Friday. Person on phone said 4 pm was too late so they said they'd see me Friday. Later Thursday, at 11:41 they again called wanting to come by. I went ahead & answered! They said they wanted to come by later that day,. I again informed them "they can't come over on that day unless its after 4." They said that was too late! I then asked, why are you calling again since they had already called at 7 am & we had made arrangements for Friday, but no set time. Again arrangements made for Friday with no set time. Was at house all day Friday, yet no one showed. Not sure what is up with this company but if this is how they handle business, not sure I want them fixing things in my home.

Came back without calling only to find out the roof was to icy to work on. Finally after about 2 weeks returned to finish the job Work was gone and looks very good and he cleaned up very good when he finished each day We felt they were some what disorganized from bidding the job, to having to wait for all materials to arrive, to not having enough men for the job, and we felt we were somewhat overcharged Live and Learn

I called Ace Handyman Services to have a subfloor replaced. I told them the dimensions, and I asked…read morefor a time quote. They literally laughed at me because I was requesting a handyman for pulling about 40 sq ft of subfloor from a bathroom where I already had the vanity removed. Told me that it would be a 4 hour package and should not take more than a couple of hours. Booked the appointment. Handyman arrived 15+ minutes late with no apology or even acknowledgment of it. Then, the handyman sat talking on his phone headset taking his leisurely time the entire first few hours. 3.25 hours in, he had not even finished pulling the subfloor. At 11:30, he said that he would be able to finish pulling the subfloor but not get the new subfloor in but that he did not have an afternoon appointment, so I could pay for more time. I told him that I had no interest in paying for more time when the company told me that there was no way it would take more than four hours. He also failed to acknowledge his late arrival. Then, he realized he could not milk the job for the rest of the day and began to work with a purpose. However, once he started to work with a purpose, he put a hole through the ceiling in the room below. He never even acknowledged it. Instead, that was the first piece of new subfloor that he cut to cover it up. No apology. No acknowledgement of it. No offer to fix it. The handyman did end up finishing the job. In about 6.3 hours. He honored the four-hour price. But, I can't get past the fact that he showed up late, tried to milk the job, sat talking on the phone for most of the day, and then did not even acknowledge the hole that he put in the ceiling below. The next day, I realized that he had cut holes through my metal sawhorses, which I had allowed him to use, and did not even acknowledge it or notify me. When I called the company to complain, they offer a "written guarantee" of satisfaction, I was told that the owner would call me back in a couple of days. A week later, with no call from the owner, I called them again, and I was told that they spoke to the handyman and he claimed that he had offered to fix the ceiling and that we had declined. Then, the general manager told me that my fiancee was a liar and that he believed his craftsman. When I investigated further, it turns out that Ace Handyman Services was not even licensed to do business in South Dakota, even though they claim on their website that they are fully licensed and insured. When I told them of this, they told me that I did not know how to properly look this up--then, a week later, they magically were suddenly licensed. Avoid Ace Handyman at all costs. For $90 per hour, you can find much better contractors that will do the job right and without trying to overcharge you. Find an honest, local handyman instead.

We allowed him to remove gates from another property we owned to be used in this project. He took 3 gates worth over $200 and never installed those gates for us, being a no-show or claiming an emergency over 5 times. Then he wanted to charge us more than the original contract. We fired him for breach of contract and he still refused to issue us the $40 refund requested, even after we said he could keep the $200 gates. We had to dispute it with our credit card company. We were very kind to him and did not deserve this treatment.

She paid him half down (3,400) of her hard earned money, and was to pay the balance on completion. My sister was working with this man and he began making excuses why he was delayed and now has completely ghosted her. Take the down payment and run? He is now unresponsive and she will never see her money. Take advantage of my 81 year old mother with dementia? This is the absolute lowest form of predatory contracting I've ever witnessed. Don't give this fly by night your business folks, don't give him a penny, you'll just be throwing your money away. In my opinion, If you'll take advantage of the elderly you should be in jail.
