Absolutely phenomenal experience with German Car Specialists! Two days before Thanksgiving, my BMW X5 M50i started overheating and left me stranded on the side of the highway. I called GCS in a panic and they were incredibly kind and accommodating--they told me they'd stay open until 5pm and to just drop the car in the back if I could get it there after hours. They promised they'd take care of it first thing in the morning, and they delivered 100%. They diagnosed and fixed the overheating issue the very next day, did a full oil change, and even repaired a bad oil leak that the BMW dealership had caused (and never fixed properly). Everything was done quickly, the pricing was extremely fair (way less than the dealership), and the communication throughout was outstanding. I can't say enough good things about German Car Specialists on Tradesman Dr--they saved my holiday and earned a customer for life. I'll never take my BMW back to the dealership again. I guess I'll start off with my gripes! Every time I call this place the owner seems like he's in the worst mood ever and he knows everything and treats. The customer pretty much like shit and hangs up on them without even saying bye he's a fucking prick and I spent lots of money here and they did a decent job not the best but when I call to have any questions about the job, they done again the owner dismisses me and is completely unhelpful. I hate shops like this. It's already hard as hell to find a decent shop and then you have to deal with personalities in the shops and sometimes it's not worth it. read more

Best BMW mechanic in San Antonio!!! Took my daughter's X1 in for a coolant leak and turned out to be the oil housing. The cost of parts and labor are definitely not cheap (it's expected) however, their price was significantly less than taking the vehicle to the dealership. Although it wasn't cheap i know I got a deal compared taking it to the dealer. I had the car come in without the skid plate due to the coolant leak. But once I came to pick up the vehicle I brought the skid plate and they were more than happy to put it on for me. They also kept me updated with the progress of the work being done to the car as well as sending me photos. Will be coming back for any other issues! read more

I know pricing will dictate where a large number of folks will seek service and repair, and I will admit the quotes from this shop seem too good to be true...but they are honest, do what they say they will, and flat out fix vehicles. I was looking for a place to do some work on an exotic car (Audi R8). Doing the work myself was unfeasible and taking it to the dealer would have been a death sentence for my wallet. German Car Specialist came recommended by an online talk forum. I contacted them about the work I wanted done. Not only were they very reasonable and transparent with price, they even let me ship the parts to them directly. Saving me a double trip. Fast forward to drop off, left the car and keys with them in the early AM. The car was ready by early afternoon! Other shops quoted me a full day to 2 days to finish the work. German Car Specialist finished it in under 8 hours! It was a ton of work and very reasonably priced. They were the cheapest by at least a grand from what other shops quoted. Berk and his team are terrific. I own a Porsche Cayenne dealer wanted $320 for a oil change. $120 at GSM! I was also having a squeaking noise at low speeds while applying the brakes. Berks team took a look and recommend to save a bit of money waiting until brake pads were shot and then replacing rotors and pads. I liked that rather than just taking my money he was trying to do the right thing for my pocket book and not what would make him money. I elected to go ahead and replace all rotors and pads. I am gearing up for a roadtrip and needed to get everything checked off my endless to-do list. I came into the shop after a crazy day to discuss the issue with the plastic around my front light that kept coming off. I was previously told by BMW that it would cost about $800-900 to fix (this included the part and labor). I brought it in and the owner quoted me at $200. The owner took his time to check out my car and we scheduled something for 3 days later. He told me that my car was intact and in that particular area everything was fixable. I also had a loose part by the door from opening/closing which they fixed while they were checking out my light. The work was estimated for 3 hours but took 1.5 hours. After mentioning that I found them on Yelp, they gave me an additional discount bringing my total to $180. Not only were they efficient but they were reassuring. I am a female who is pretty 'gullible' when it comes to cars at times, and in this case, I felt safe with my choice. read more

I researched various BMW service centers and decided that German Car Specialist would be my best choice. I had them replace rod bearings in my 2006 M5. I drove from Houston to San Antonio to drop the car off and have this work done. Worth every mile I drove, fantastic service from the first phone call through pick up of my car. If you live in the San Antonio area there is simply no reason to go anywhere else to service or repair your BMW. The cost was a little more than 1/3 of what the dealer wanted and I am 100% confident they did the job correctly. Saved the parts and explained to me in detail what they did and why. I will be taking my car to them going forward for any major repair or service. It's all about trust in the auto repair business, a 2.5 hour drive is well worth it for this level of trust. Purchased my A7 from Cavender Audi in San Antonio and after several horrendous service experiences with them I was on a mission to find an alternative. I found the holy grail of auto repair at German Car Specialists (thanks Yelp!) Berk is professional, timely and super knowledgeable. Once I was driving home from Austin and my A/C stopped working, I called Berk and he said "bring it in, pretty sure I know what it is". And he did! he fixed it the same day. He has done my brakes, corrected a fuel pump replacement (that Cavender screwed up) and most recently an alignment and new motor mounts. Prices are reasonable and like I said, he knows his stuff! Dishonest, do not trust them! Took my Audi in for a clutch change and they tried to rip me off by telling me that I also had to replace the starter(I never had any starter problems before), because the clutch dust fell onto the starter and that caused it to break. I did not believe their fairy tale and just refused to change it, went to the store, called the owner out on his bs, he got angry and told me that they will see what they can do. The next morning they call me and tell me that my car is ready. The receptionist explained in a frustrated voice, the kind of voice a little kid has when he does not get things to go his way, that they just cleaned the dust off the starter to get it to work. Lol hooookay. Never took my cars there again and do not recommend for you to either, unless you want to hear some bs story and pay for some "repairs" that you do not need! read more

My air oil separator was failing. The dealership gave me an estimate that I did not think was reasonable and so I looked for an alternative. I found German Car Specialists to be highly rated and seemed to have a bit of experience in repairs of my particular make. They ended up completing repairs for half of the dealership quote. My nephew started UTSA this year as a freshman and I helped him out buying an Audi A4 to get around. It is a 2012 so we could expect some maintenance needs. I was shocked recently when he told me he needed a water pump replacement after taking the car in to the Audi dealership. So glad I found Berk and his team to service my Cayenne GTS and 911 Turbo. The service is great and the prices are very fair - especially compared to the local Porsche dealer, where the prices are crazy high for everything because they have no other dealerships around to compete with. In response, I do know what slippage of a transmission means. My car daily would jerk in between shifting gears and wouldn't accelerate quickly, you do have to drive it fast for a few minutes to see it won't accelerate. Ancira Volkswagen found the problem ( Valve Body being replaced) and is getting my business instead.
