Had my 2025 Lexus GX 550 painted here over a scratch on the rear passenger door. John Ringham handled all customer service interactions with me. Compared to two other shops I got quotes from, John's quote was the lowest price. He also did a great job of keeping me updated throughout the repair. The final paint job was completely flawless. On a separate note, my car has a 360 degree surround view camera system, and one of the cameras is mounted on the side mirror, which needed to be removed during paint blending and reattached afterwards. This meant that German Auto Body needed to take the car to the dealership (Lexus Stevens Creek) for calibration to correctly line up the image from the reinstalled mirror camera to the whole image captured by the three other cameras. The dealership's calibrations did not correctly line up the final image (I have my doubts if they even ran the calibrations at all, as the image looked identical before and after), but they still charged for the calibrations (gave a typical BS answer that everything was "in spec"). However German Auto Body agreed that the calibrations did nothing and therefore they chose to absorb the cost of the calibrations from the dealer and did not charge me. John and tech Jose were able to work with me to mechanically (manually) adjust the side mirror to line up the 360 view image. I greatly appreciated the efforts that went into resolving this. Base on my experience, I believe that German Auto Body is an honest, customer service oriented, and skilled body shop. Would highly recommend them. This would be my go to shop if I ever needed future auto body repairs. read more

Amazing team at German Auto Body. My car was broken into and had multiple deep scratches in the paint and on the interior trims. The paint is immaculate and looks like it did when I received the car brand new, you can't tell where it was damaged. They helped with the insurance process and made it extremely streamlined. I would not trust any other shop to touch my vehicle. Oh how I wish they offered detailing services! I would be first in line :) Money well spent. You cannot put a price on professionalism and expertise. I have gone to them to get a quote for even small rock chips, the girls in the front have never made me feel unwelcome or crazy for noticing such small marks on my car. I plan to go to them when my car hits its 5 year mark to get a complete touchup if needed. Recently I needed some work done on one of my newer high-end vehicles. German Auto Body and one other local body shop was recommended by my dealer as the "certified" shops that would guarantee bringing my vehicle back to manufacturer's standards. Not knowing any bettery, I originally started out with the other place that was recommended. That however quickly turned out to be a big mistake. That other shop constantly irked me from the time of the initial estimate. Given this, I decided to jump ship from that other place and brought my vehicle over to German Auto Body instead. This review has been long overdue. Back in 2023 John helped me install a new rear deck lid on my car. The color wasn't quite right coming back from the paint shop and was a shade off. When I brought the car back he quickly went to work on fixing the color. The second time I picked up the car, my OCD kicked in and I still felt the color was still a little "off." John was very patient and accommodating, and quickly went back to work on sending the car back to the paint shop to correct. He personally visited the paint shop before calling me back for a third time to ensure the color was correct. When I came back a third time the color looked great and spot on. I went in initially, after buying a used car, to get some scratches buffed out on the driver side door. I was told the prior owner must have had a small dog, as the scratches matched the results of an over excited dog barking at another person. They did not even charge me. But then afterwards, I was merging onto the highway and another car did not give me space, I went into the dirt trying to avoid a collision, but contact happened. The other driver swerved over lanes and left me behind, and I did not want to encounter a chase, against several other merging lanes. It took a long time to have the body shop to confirm they could repair the damage, I own Subaru Legacy, parts seem to be few. But needless to say the rear bumper and rear wheel were eventually repaired. I definately recommend them! read more

Recently, my black window trim was becoming an eye sore. I have suspicions that it was damaged over time by a car detail shop but no proof. I have a friend at a body shop in Vancouver and he explained that they frequently interview the customer to find out how much of a mismatch the customer will accept. John at German body shop simply explained that they would get it right and they did. Not only was the color a perfect match, they also nailed the surface texture of the paint. Lexus paint has a slight texture because the factory applies a thicker coating than necessary for durability. What was originally thought to be Minor Cosmetic Damage to the rear bumper ended up having to replace my whole lift gate, etc. From Day one when I called the Shop Chris helped me out. I don't know where to start, I only have good things to say about John the owner and his business German Auto Body. My car had a custom bumper that was in a collision, John and his team was the ONLY body shop in the area willing to take on the project to replace it. During the time of going back and forth with insurance, Diana and Alexis the receptionist were very helpful on keeping me informed. 2-3 weeks later I go to pick up my car and i was in shock of how good it came out! After getting a competitive quote, I showed up at the shop to talk to John in person. He was very patient with my questions as mentioned by few others ( and I can be a pain in the neck with my notorious attention to details) in addressing them. I have a 2 days old brand new car that is in need of some plastic parts to be painted Gloss black and I want to make sure the shop that will do the job can remove and reinstall the parts back in original condition and can ensure no damage (scratches, dings etc) to any other part of the vehicle while doing the work. Updated review from March 2022. Previous review was removed so I'll keep it simple. Owner made me feel very uncomfortable. It took over 3 months to repair my car. I was the only person in the car when I was rear ended however all seat belts had to be replaced? Continued to charge my insurance company for questionable repairs. the length of time it took and amount charged didn't quit make sense. Friends and family used him previously for years and agree things have changed. Customer service and owner were unkind. I wish more people understood that kindness can go a very long way especially when something bad happens and trust is put in someone's services. read more

A month ago, the car was taken to a respected Santa Clara body shop. They took one look at the German Auto Body repair and asked, "Who did this work?" It was that bad. Our car was involved in an accident that required replacement of the radiator support. In a $9000 repair, German Auto Body replaced the radiator support. Fun fact: That job requires welding the new support into place, and if the weld fails the car is structurally unsound and unsafe. The manager of that body shop informed me that German Auto Body welded in this radiator support incompetently and that the weld was not primed or painted to prevent corrosion -- which will lead to failure. I asked how much it would cost to fix German Auto Body's work -- I received a written estimate that the cost will equal almost $5000. Attached is a photo of the rusted weld (look in the center of the photo). Needless to say, I am disgusted. Also, today, I am paying $300 to pay for the defective light German Auto Body sold us. I've known the owner of this shop for years and had sent business his way "back when." I don't have a bad thing to say about him personally, but I do say, his shop really did an unprofessional and shoddy job in multiple areas. And , given the repeated breaking of trust and professionalism, I would not even ask for them to touch another car of mine. read more

Just got a Mercedes CL back from John who did a full front end, air bags, and rear bumper. WOW! I wrecked my partners car, the value wasn't high enough to repair so insurance totaled it. I couldn't find a good replacement so I took the car to John and his crew to evaluate. After a long look John gave me a solid estimate - which was spot on. The estimate and repair ended up about $10,000 more than insurance paid but like I said "not my car" - I just got it fixed and stopped whining :-(. I could not have asked for better repair and craftsmanship! I've already had 3 people ask me if I wanted to sell it, she's just so beautiful, and they are stunned when I explain it's over 10 years old. It took a lot longer than i hoped, it was more expensive than i would've preferred, but i cannot complain about the quality of the repair and the value of great craftsmanship. John's folks weren't perfect, the first time i went pickup the car they had not completed the rear bumper, when I called to say 'hey what about my bumper', they were so apologetic and dealt with the issue like real pros! I want to thank the owner, John for taking the time and meeting with me during our estimate consultation - he is very knowledgeable and clearly cares about his customers. The collision repair was completed in 2 weeks (as promised) and I am really happy with the paint job. They repainted the entire hood and the new paint looks better than the factory paint. Black paint is extremely hard to work with and I was really worried that it would look noticeably repainted but it looks absolutely perfect (no bubbles, blemishes, imperfections). When I came to pick up my car it was washed and cleaned inside and out. They even cleaned and organized by trunk, threw out my broken Mercedes star and washed underneath the hood. I am really impressed and would recommend this body shop to anyone looking for stellar paint job and collision repair.
