I called this company for a quote a year ago and found they were 2,000 to high on my geothermal furnace replacement. But still wanting to keep my business local I gave this firm another shot on a service call. I was quoted 195 and gave the staff the details of what I wanted, was told that the "qualified" Tech was out of town and I agreed to wait 2 days heating only with a fireplace. When called by the tech before his arrival I was told the call would be 795 to 1500 range. I was blindsided and the worst part was his attitude just saying it is what it is. So what I requested was a flush cart check and for some reason he thinks that makes this a golden service call. I can purchase a flush cart for 2500 or could build my own which I have considered. And just to make sure I was not being to cheap, I found another firm that would drive in from some distance for 250. Geothermal Specialist has some strange pricing policies and I would not recommend them. read more

If a zero star was possible, this would be a zero. Geothermal Specialists contacted us in January 2018 to schedule an appointment for a Comfort Care Maintenance service that they recommended to us. Since we had previously used this company to provide repair service on our Geothermal Unit, we agreed to schedule the appointment. A technician was sent to our home on 3/6/18 and completed the $195 service . Minutes after the tech left, my husband noticed that the Geothermal unit was now leaking. He called the tech back to our house and after examining the leak, the tech explained that a chemical he flushed through the unit as a part of the maintenance process created the leak as the unit was very old and the chemicals were too harsh. He then recommended that we purchase a new unit ($11,000) to replace the old one, but if we were unable to do that, they could repair the leak for approx. $700 but it would be a week before someone could return to do it. We asked to speak with the owner, since this seemed unfair as their company encouraged and mislead us into receiving the service, and now the service had caused a leak that they were now asking us to pay an additional $700 to repair. On 3/6/18 we spent the night without heat, on 3/7/18 we called another company to repair the unit. The company that repaired the unit on 3/7/18 only charged us $250, compared to the $700 Geothermal Services wanted to charge to fix a leak they caused. The reader can do the math on that. After contacting the main office to request a refund for the $195 comfort care maintenance service, Steve, the owner of Geothermal Specialists called me at 5 pm on 3/7/18 and would not take any accountability for the fact that their maintenance service initiated the leak on our unit. He then said he would issue a $195 refund, ONLY IF we agreed to sever ties with their company, call someone else to repair the leak they caused, and not share any negative feedback about their company online/ or otherwise. We of course didn't agree to that for a number of reasons, which should be obvious to most people. He then said he would no longer issue a refund since we could not agree to the terms he outlined. I filed a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's consumer protection office and the Better Business Bureau, both complaints are currently being investigated. I was not at all surprised to discover that this was not the first complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau on Geothermal Specialists. We have never had to leave negative feedback on any company we have ever done business with, but this was the worst experience we've ever had with any company. After using this company's repair services for over 1 year, paying in full for each service, even if we felt the prices were inflated, we were very disappointed by the carelessness of the service provided and the failed attempt by the owner Steve to intimidate us as if we have done something wrong. Which is why we made it a priority to share the long details of this experience, so the public can be informed. read more

Steve came out to our home to do an annual cleaning on our Geothermal system. This is the first time I used them, and loved the service. He was very knowledgeable about the system, and answered all our questions. I will definitely use them again :) read more

As a general service manager of a large company I know what quality service is and I understand good reviews and compliments are rarely given when work is performed properly but poor reviews are always given when performed work is subpar. I called the owner Steve and he walked me through a few basic checks to save me a service call but the issue was above what I could do, Steve came out same day at 10pm due to the temp in my house was climbing. With in 15 mins identified the problem of a failed compositor, made the repair and had my system up and working. This is what happens when you call a specialist opposed to the " other guy" because quality and experience matters. This company and the owner are top notch and I would recommend them to anyone that's has a geothermal system. Thanks Steve! Me and my family appreciate you and what you do. read more

The technician is very knowledgeable. He seems to know the ins and outs of geothermal systems. He was easy to communicate with and he made me comfortable with his explanations. To my knowledge, these guys have the most experience with these specialized units. read more

My husband and I have been dealling with this company for at least 4 years.. The only good thing about this company is the sevice tech Tom, he is freindly, returns calls, etc.. However the 4 years we have used GEOTHERMAL SPECIALIST!!!!!!! I am now finding out that this in my opinion is not a very honest or reliable company in regards to servicing ones equipment..Over the years we have had many service calls and repairs done to our unit (which is not a brand new unit but, should not be desposable for the cost) ...We have paid over a couple thousand dollars in repairs and service calls, it adds up. That last call was made sometime in June, Tom came out looked at our unit and said it needed freon, our unit was working randomly, but freezing up.. I am not even going to go into all the problems we had during the winter months!!! Anyway he put freon in the unit charged us another $200 and it worked for about a day, then just stop working all together!!!!!!At this point I am livid and so is my husband and he never gets too upset over anything. I called again long story short we were told we needed an entire new unit over $11,000..WHAT!!!!!! I decided to call another company Geathermal Specialist likes to make the customer feel like it is an elite company and there are not many companys that deal with these types of units..That is a lie I soon found out. The first company I called came out looked at the unit found the leak which was causing th problem within 10 minutes changed the filter added freon AGAIN!!!! and did some other stuff..DONE FIXED!!!! 200 dollars..has worked perfectly since..The company that looked at our unit said they do not like to think that this was done purposly by Geo theramal, but in his over 30 years experience that it kind of looked like it..Geo told us the leak could not easily be found and all kinds of other bull and that is why they recommended a new unit.. The leak was not only found, but it was a leak in a hose outside the unit I may not know a lot about geo thearmal, but who does???, but I listen and ask questions and this company fixed it for 200$ they did not make a huge profit off of us..Why were we told we needed a new $11,000 dollar unit when it was fixed for 200$ why did geathearmal not fix it??? DO NOT use this company.. We were looking into refinancing our home to be able to pay for this what a joke and the stress it caused us!!!! Buyer beware or consumer beware of this company look around especially if you are told you need a new unit by this company I am so glad we did!!!! Oh and you would not believe how many times the sales rep called us and all the stuff they were going to do for us they were going to give us the 200 dollars back from the last service call which made the unit completely stop working and even let us borrow a unit of theirs until the new one came in, because evidently this unit takes 2 weeks to come in. The other company before they came out to look at ours, just incase we did need a new unit. looked and found a unit maybe not the same brand for less than half the price and it was in stock ready to purchase. We never got our 200 dollars back, so this last problem really did end up costing around 400$.. Very disappointed.. read more
