This is a nice visitor center. It it spacious and clean. The pamphlets for each area are organized and the slots are well stocked. The restrooms are clean and there are plenty of stalls. This is a fantastic state welcome center and should be a must stop for those traveling through this area. It was so wonderful it almost earned a five star review, but will later explain why I had to make a deduction. When crossing from South Carolina into Georgia on I -20W you will see the sign within a half mile, or so for the combo Georgia Welcome Center/Rest Area. This stop accommodates cars, campers and tractor trailers. Cars in the front and everyone else to the back. The center appears new, but is actually a recent renovation that they painstaking seemed to think of everything that a road warrior could want. When pulling up to the building you will get a clue as to why I believe this welcome center earns so much praise. It's exterior is all brick, very modern and large! A walk through the doors confirms my suspicion of just how spacious the interior is with an atrium. Beautiful brick floors, wooden rocking chairs and tons of visitor info are a real welcome sight to travelers. As you walk in the front door bench seating for a screening of a state film greets you. If one wishes to learn more about the state this is a great way to do so if time allows, it's only around 8-10 minutes. In the center there is a huge display in a glass case. "Flavor of Georgia Winery 2014" it has some neat items like a copper kettle and wine barrel along with other items of interest. Also in the center broken down down by region of the state are different brochures attractively displayed. To the right are restrooms and a lot of them. Two Men's, two Women's and two family rooms that are incredibly CLEAN!!! A restroom attendant controls them every hour they are open. A decent size vending area is across from the facilities and inside which is a bonus. A couple of the machines were either out of the drinks I wanted, or not working on the day of my visit. There is also an ATM located in this area too. The center's counter where you can get personal attention from staff is in the back left. The two women working the counter the day that I visited were super and I loved talking with them about the state. They are knowledgeable about the state and road directions. If they do not know they will look it up as they did for me. They gave my son a GA state pin for his shirt too. There is also a children's activity area in the back The outside area has small shelters to eat and looks very picturesque with sidewalks and lamp post. Of course this area is pet friendly too. There are garbage cans around, but unfortunately trash was observed around this area. It always shocks me when people throw trash around thinking someone else will pick it up. The parking lot is very large and can take in a lot of travelers on any given day. The main area where vehicular parking is had a lot of debris on the ground which is why I deducted a star from my review. They have an attendant inside, but unsure who keeps track of the outside. If it's the same person than they need to patrol the grounds more often. A solution to this problem is more trash cans, they have them by the building, but none in the long island area where cars park. I would not hesitate for a moment stopping right back here on a return trip. They have all the amenities that a traveler could possibly want in spades. I recommend state welcome centers to anyone on the road. This one earns the distinction of almost being perfect in my book, if they can stay on top of the debris. I hope someone follows up with a review this Summer that upgrades it to a full five stars... YES it's that good. read more

CLEAN, CLEAN,CLEAN!!! This place was beautiful. I was surprised because I had never been in a welcome center rest stop. I have to say it was clean from the front door to the back door. They have a vending area with a variety of things to choose from. They have lotto machines in there if your feeling lucky. The temperature in there was perfect not to cold or hot. The bathroom was SUPER clean (no tissue on the floor, not smelly, no pee on the seat, and no water all over the sink area). When I'm going thru that part of GA again I'll definitely stop here .No more pulling off the interstate and going to a convenient store for rest stops anymore. They sold me!! read more

The Georgia Visitor Information Center on Interstate 20 in Augusta is a well maintained visitor center and rest area that is conveniently located when you need it and easy to get in and out of. Beautiful visitors center ~ lots to see, with nice rocking chairs to sit a spell, and read up on all the fun things to do in Georgia! Vending machines, coffee machine too! Nice picnic tables, and benches outside to relax. Plenty of Parking for big rigs too. Extremely CLEAN restrooms. Stop by and see all the adventures the Peach State has to offer. read more

With Georgia on our minds, we made a stop at the Visitor Information Center. Ample amount of parking and plenty of open space to stretch one's legs or walk your four legged friend. A larger picnic shelter and a few smaller ones, shaded benches lining walking paths, vending services and visitor information inside. Large open interior with vaulted ceilings and plenty of windows make it bright and inviting. Nicely decorated for the season with some local art on display. Then came the bathrooms, which showed little to none in regards to being serviced. First stall was empty of toilet paper with dispenser broken open, second stall was unusable and clearly in need of attention and last was taped off and out of service. Both hand dryers were broken and no need to report them as someone noted in guestbook outside the bathrooms in circled, bold letters. Dirty floors. Clean up your act, well, at least your bathrooms, Georgia. Some construction going on outdoors too. read more

How many times has this happened to you? You are on the road on your way from SC passing into GA and you gotta pee, but don't have time to get off an exit and pull into a convenience store? Well not to worry! The Georgia Information Welcome Center has you covered! No pulling off a pesky exit to only have to sit in traffic or be stopped by one of those long traffic lights while trying to get to a place that has a restroom; I mean you gotta go so you don't have time for that. Pull right off the road your first exit as you cross into GA and enjoy the convenience of the Georgia Information Welcome Center's bathroom; plenty of parking and no traffic to fight with to get in there. Your bladder will thank you! While you are here you might as well check out some of the pamphlets of information about different attractions, cities, hotels, festivals, etc that the state of GA has to offer. Feel free to take one. They make excellent restroom reading material. Well you are here and you are feeling lucky, so why not try you luck at the GA Lottery. That's right, the rest area offers a lottery machine filled full of lucky tickets for you to scratch! And if you got the munchies you can grab a soda and a bag of chips out of the vending machines at the welcome center. Clean, convenient, and friendly. We're glad Georgia is on your mind! read more

This place is super convenient and clean. Get place to stop and have a picnic. The kids can play with a frisbee or ball. There is a cute display inside filled with history and fun facts. They have vending machines for snacks. read more

GA welcome center is very nice: big, spacious, appealing to the eyes, but not very helpful. They are only getting 3stars because the building is nice. We were encouraged to check rates online and research. Why do welcome centers exist if all they have to offer are nice bathrooms and brochures?! I would've enjoyed a more personable approach....what if I were a complete stranger to GA? The welcome center has what you may need to find things on your own. It also has a few snacks, clean bathrooms, picnic/dog walking areas and a well lit parking lot....other than that, you're on your own. Happy exploring! read more

Beautiful facility, but who ever approved the operational details should be eliminated. I was traveling with my 90 year old mother and needed a break. We arrived at 5:25 PM. Followed the "car" parking directions. Found a handicap parking space up front. The entrance was beautiful, but we had to walk through the entire welcome center to get to the restrooms in the rear of the facility. When we came out of the restrooms the gate to the welcome center was closed and locked up tighter than a prison. Our primary route to exit and get back to out car was closed. I asked a cleaning lady why and how were we to get back to the front. She said that they close the welcome center at 5:30, and we would need to walk around the outside, at night and in the rain. We were forced to walk out and all the way around the huge building (which is a hike for a 90 year old). Finally making it back to our car, there were numerous others parking in the "car" parking area and walking up to a locked front door. Everyone was perplexed. Some were walking away. I mentioned to several the requirement to walk around to the back. What a crock! Absolutely unacceptable in my opinion. We could have and should have stopped at a McDonalds. read more
