So a plane I was buying was brought to GA Avionics to repair its AI. They were told that if the unit was pulled out a bit it "SEEMED TO FUNCTION". It was "assumed" that there might be a kink in the vacuum line. They (GA) said they found a kink and bad connector and made the repairs. The unit was never bench tested. Right after I paid the owner for the plane the unit quit, acting exactly the same way. I contacted GA and asked them what it would cost to get a rebuilt unit. They said $3100 with a 6 month warranty, so I asked if that was installed. I was told "no", then asked if I would get any money back for my old unit, "no". Finally I asked if they would offer some credit for all the money already wasted on "repairs", again "no". I told them forget it I would just deal with it. I since obtained a fully rebuilt (yellow tagged) unit with a 1 year warranty for $1495. The only reason I gave them 2 stars was because they were nice to me while screwing me. read more
