Extremely negative experience with the person I spoke and later texted with concerning tree removal. I had been hoping to get an estimate, but before they would come out and take a look, I was told to contact my neighborhood board first and foremost. Then I could call him back. I've had many trees removed and never heard of such a protocol. I found the person to be unprofessional and dishonest. Maybe he has a deal with the neighborhood - I don't know. Sketchy. I met with Peter Stevens the owner of Georgetown Tree Services on Wednesday afternoon. He listened to what my needs were as well as offered suggestions that were right on point. He and his crew showed up Friday morning with a crew of eight. They operated as a well fine tuned machine. They removed the trees requested as well as trimmed all limbs close to my roof that would allow leaves to bunch up and if left untouched would have created damage to my roof. If your having a tree come down that COULD end up falling on your house or your neighbors, you need to call Peter, who knows what he is doing, is bonded and has mega equipment plus a pretty tight crew. I was surprised how fast they worked. They took down 4 huge pines that threatened my neighbors house but were on my property in Hagley Estates (Pawleys Island). I had an unfortunate experience on the morning hurricane Ian was due to hit Pawleys Island. I was in my house when I heard what sounded like a freight train. Upon inspection and sheer panic, I discovered that a huge pine tree had landed on my house and went through to the attic area above my garage. The fire company responded immediately and tarped the gaping hole as best they could before the torrential rain came. I called Georgetown Tree Service and spoke with Peter. He responded immediately to assess the damage. He was calm and reassured me that everything would be okay. In two days (I had to have approval from my insurance company to remove the tree to mitigate further damage) he and his crew arrived to extricate the tree. His brightly uniformed crew arrived on time and never stopped working for over four hours. Georgetown Tree Service has a fleet of equipment that is top of the line. The machines and the skilled operators we (the neighborhood) watched that day were truly unbelievable. I have never seen anything like it. Peter watched over every aspect and detail of the operation. At the same time, he was compassionate and considerate enough to reassure me that I could get through all of the work that was ahead of me in regard to insurance, estimates, roofers, and contractors. Once there was rain in the forecast, I reached out to Peter to ask if he knew of anyone who could put a larger tarp on the exposed hole in the roof. Within five minutes, he called and gave me a number of someone who could do the work. They arrived within a half an hour and sealed off the hole. If you are needing any type of tree service (removal, trimming, risk assessment, etc.) I highly recommend Georgetown Tree Services -- hands down the best, fastest, cleanest tree service I have ever used. I have been in this house for 21 years and have had 5 prior companies take trees down, and nothing compares to Georgetown Tree Services. I called just for a quote, assuming they would be too expensive since I knew the owner is a certified Arborist, and their equipment is all new and top-notch. I was surprised when the owner came by the next day to give me a quote, which was very reasonable. Our HOA gave me a quick approval as they are familiar with this company and knew that they would be very careful of a Live Oak tree directly next to the huge tree that needed removal. They arrived on time, all in uniforms, coned off the street, and everyone went about their respective jobs - within 30 minutes the first tree was down and in the chipper. The second tree was tricky because of it's size and proximity to 2 houses and a large Live Oak. They were able to bring the equipment in easily through a very small space so as not to drive on the neighbor's property. No damage was done to either property from the equipment or limbs coming down. The owner stayed and worked with the crew throughout. During this time they had a couple fellas standing in front and back of the coned areas directing the traffic. They put the branches and logs through the brush chipper as they came down, and everyone helped clean up afterward. They cleaned everything up to our satisfaction and were on their way in less than 3 hours.
