If you go in the front door there are a few steps to climb. If you need flat entrances they are around back. The host took us to our seats and explained the buffet to us. It is only a buffet place. But you can order a take out as well. There were two tables of food and a dessert table. The salad bar seemed to never end. Everything was cut fresh with no limp vegetables or lettuce. Marilyn brought me coffee and Bev Tea. It was plenty hot and fresh. I absolutely love their coffee. I had two cups before I even finished my plate of food. Marilyn was very attentive to each table and came to ours often. After I finished my salad. I saw Carie filling a plate for someone. When she was done I asked her if she could get me a chicken breast. My joint pain and back pain had been extreme this week. Using the walker was even painful. Carie said, "Absolutely !" She returned quickly and with a smile. The staff is so kind. The manager Tommy came by our table to see how we were enjoying our meal. I let him know the salad bar was perfect. The chicken I enjoyed was tender and juicy. I also noticed the teamwork between the staff was easy and natural like a choreographed dance. Bev and I plan to return for the Easter Sunday Meal. We stopped at Captain George's Seafood Restaurant and it ended up being a great experience…read more It's about $50 for an all-you-can-eat buffet, which I'm usually hesitant about because I don't always eat enough to make it worth it--but this is a seafood buffet with crab legs (my favorite), so we decided to go for it. And it did not disappoint. The crab legs were the highlight--always stocked, served warm, and cooked really well. I tried a few other items that were just okay, nothing super standout, but for a buffet the quality of the crab legs alone made it worth it. We waited about 20 minutes in line to be seated, which wasn't bad, but just a heads up--there wasn't really anywhere to sit while waiting, so that could be a bit tough for anyone who needs accommodations. The desserts were also pretty good, and the place itself is huge. I loved the design details--everything has a nautical/boat theme, even the buffet stations and tables, which made it feel unique compared to other buffets. Service was great. We just had water, but staff constantly came around refilling drinks, clearing plates, and taking away crab leg shells, which made the whole experience smooth. Overall, we left full and very happy--definitely worth it if you're a crab leg fan!

There was a full house when he walked in but we had no problem being seated by the waitress who took our drink orders. The selection of the buffet is diverse and everything you would want in a good, traditional Southern style buffet with all the staples you would expect. I tried many items and some of the standout items included the: -Chicken Bog -succotash - fried chicken - chicken & dumplins - fat back - fried bonelesss pork chop (we actually had to ask for this because they only had grilled pork chops on the buffet but they kindly fried some up fresh and hot for us and they were sooooo good) As far as buffets go this one was definitely one of the better ones I've been to in a long time. The BBQ itself wasn't anything particularly noteworthy to me but like I said - if y0ou're looking for good souther fixins, you certainly won't leave hungry here.

I gave it only a four because again I hate seafood. So here is the deal walked in and young lady opened the door and was pleasant as could be, the hostess seating us funny and awesome and our waitress was the bomb (if people still say that) she never missed a beat. Side note the entire staff was on their game I saw three spills/drops and it took all of 5 seconds to have a staff member stop and get it cleaned up WOW. I watched them bias tables around us and they didn't clean them once they cleaned them TWICE - seriously who does that!!!! By the way the place has pretty cool decor and was clean. Now the food since it was our 35th I decided to go with the flow and try all the seafood (except scallops I draw a line) and well folks I'm not sure what it is supposed to taste like but I wasn't spitting it out (usually the case with seafood) I LIKED IT!!! Like Mikey I Really Liked it!!! (Again I hate seafood) so while I'll not comment on its finer points I'll just repeat I liked it, heck even and especially the peanut butter pie for desert. So ROCK ON CRABBY MIKE People can't go wrong here especially if you actually like seafood

We looked at the reviews first on Yelp, and they were pretty mixed, but we hoped for the best. On arrival we were greeted at the door and were seated promptly. We arrived at around 4:30 pm, and the place wasn't that full, but everything smelled pretty good. Too bad good smells doesn't equate to good food... Most of the food we ate wasn't very good. The sausage I tried was mealy, and couldn't get past the first bite. The fried shrimp were popcorn sized, and soggy? I didn't even try the snow crab because they looked very small, and were swimming in an unknown liquid. The "ribeye" steak was cut razor thin, and was cooked well beyond well done. At least the prime rib was medium rare, but didn't have much flavor. The best things I ate consisted of the pretty good gumbo, crispy Brussel sprouts, and fresh cucumbers. The bbq ribs weren't too bad either. The wife and daughter had the same opinion of the food. I'll mark this experience as a skip if you are in the North Myrtle Beach area. Especially when two adult meals and a child priced meal (with three drinks) comes to a total of $160.00 with tip. Yikes.

I had some business to attend to in South Myrtle Beach and as I finished up I started to get hungry…read morefor lunch. Luckily I saw a packed place on Mr. Joe White Avenue called Simply Southern Smokehouse. Place looked legit and had a full parking lot so I pulled in. There is only one way in and once you get in, the cashier is on the right with the $15 all you can eat buffet right next to it. The $15 also included all you can drink soft drinks, water and sweet tea. I paid my money and grabbed a plate and ran right up to the buffet. They start out light with vegetables and sides, working up to the main courses of fried chicken, fried fish, pulled pork, smoked chicken and some hot wings. After that, they had some mac & cheese, and then the desserts which was blueberry cobbler, peach cobbler, homemade banana pudding...and a couple of other things. I started off with some broad beans, stewed okra and tomatoes, smoked chicken and hot wings. I brought my plate and my silverware to an empty table, which was getting hard to find as the place was so packed and then went up to fetch me a glass of water to wash it down with. They serve Pepsi products and of course sweet tea but I was going to save my calories for dessert. The place was clean, well lit and the seating was well designed with booths along the wall and tables in the center... and plenty of room between the tables. Once seated I dug right in. The broad beans were excellent. Done right and full of flavor. The stewed tomatoes and okra, although cook correctly was a bit bland for my liking. The smoked chicken was excellent and I used a bit of the golden SC BBQ sauce on it...great...and homemade. The hot wings were the real deal meaty and moist with a nice kick. I finished the plate in about five minutes. Time for round two. On my second trip up, I put some collard greens, lima beans, a piece of fried chicken and a piece of fried fish on the fresh plate. As I sat down to eat, I put a bit of hot vinegar sauce on the collard greens and dug in. The collards were excellent and the homemade vinegar hot sauce gave it a bit of a kick and bite. The Lima beans were soft and loaded with flavor. I then moved on to the fried chicken, which was cooked correctly with the skin crispy and well battered and the meat moist on the inside. That said, it was bland. Given how well the beans were seasoned I was surprised. Same thing with the fish, but they had a real good house sauce for it which gave it a nice flavor and saved it, but overall both the fried chicken and the fried fish were bland. I then went up for a plate number three and realized I was not gonna be able to eat anymore mains, which was a shame since the pulled pork looked great... It will have to wait for the next time I come. I did, however leave a bit of room for dessert and I'm glad I did . The banana pudding was delicious with a full banana taste and 'Nilla wafers on top and bottom adding a bit of crunch. I only had enough room for one of the cobbler so I chose peach and it did not disappoint. Nice and warm with a sweet peach flavor and tasty crumbles. I wanted more but controlled myself. As I got up to leave, I placed five dollars on the table for the cleanup guy who was hustling and keeping the place neat and tidy. I then looked around and noticed this was a real local spot full of people from Myrtle Beach. You have families, elderly people, young people, construction workers and people from local businesses. For $15 it cannot be beat. Not only will I be back again but I plan on bringing some of my friends from up north who are going to love this place...plus I gotta try that pulled pork and Mac and cheese...if the fried chicken and fish have more seasoning, I'll up them to 5 stars.
