This was a recommendation from multiple of my friend's coworkers so we stopped in on a Saturday night. The line was almost out the door - I didn't feel like they had a great system for seating people. You don't put your name in so you're essentially just waiting for them to ask how many are in your party. Don't stand to the right side of the main hallway, because that's the carryout pickup line. We got seated fairly quickly considering the line which was awesome! We sat in the coffee shop on the other side of the hallway - cool to see businesses sharing space! Service was attentive and it took about 15-20 minutes to get our pizza. We got the Greek pizza with roasted red pepper, red onion, and feta. It was really good - crisp crust, plenty of cheese and came out hot. Are there lots of Greek people in this town?? They're nailing it. Would definitely return and try some other flavors! read more

We visited on a Monday night. The pizza was average. The crust was dry. We were limited to pizza because on Mondays they run a temporary menu. This change was not communicated in anything prior to our visit. There was one point where I asked the family if they wanted to pay for our drinks and go somewhere else. The service was adequate but the waitress who helped us was visibly shocked that this was the first time we've been to the restaurant. The ambiance was nice. The food and the service didn't match the experience. When we checked out the lady running the cash register lacked any decorum of politeness. Overall we're disappointed with the experience, the food and the service. We wouldn't go back. There are other places better in nearby communities. After our second trip in as many months, I can confidently say we will be regulars when visiting Pella. You can get seated pretty quickly even in the busiest nights. The wait staff is attentive and so energetic! Our crew can drink a lot of water and we were never empty! Love the house dressing, will always order a salad. I was a little disappointed though as they were just fries with Feta cheese with tzatziki on the side. My oh my, what a pleasant surprise. We were in the mood to try something different and this place kept popping up in conversations. We ordered 2 x small pizzas. 1 with pepperoni and the chicken pesto. First of THE CRUST. I am not sure how to describe this to you. At first, it appears to be doughy. It most definitely is Not. It is light and buttery. It brings you the same kind of happiness that the perfect buttery biscuit brings. I have not experienced any other dough like this. I had to force myself to stop eating it. Once I learned it wasn't an option, I thought, yay for me, I will have another slice. They have seating space inside that seems endless and quaint patio seating along the sidewalk. We visited George's tonight for my mom's birthday. First impressions were good- it's a cute pizza place on the square. They found us a table for 7 upstairs, which was pretty dead for a Friday night, despite all the people downstairs. Staff was attentive and friendly, restaurant was clean. The menu offers virtually no options for food allergy patrons, but they offer salads with a large variety of dressings. I would not chance trying to order special to fit a Celiac diet though. I ordered a side salad for $2.50, and an iced tea for $1.95. The salad is *literally* just lettuce and dressing. No tomatoes, onions, eggs, croutons... nada. Just iceberg lettuce, a side of dressing, and whatever you can find on the table to add more flavor. I didn't even have to special order, everyone's salads were the same. The tea was super fresh and had a lemon though, which is refreshing as a lot of places don't remember to keep their tea fresh. My husband got the Texas Burger for $9.25, without cheese and butter. The bun was giant, the patty was small and tasted frozen. He forgot the burger even had bacon and BBQ sauce, because he couldn't taste it. The burger wasn't seasoned. Not sure if they normally butter and toast buns and just didn't for him, but they definitely don't season the meat. It came with fries, which tasted like Ore Ida frozen fries. After adding seasoning (salt and pepper), they were the most flavorful thing on his plate. Overall, the patrons seemed generally happy and almost everyone ordered pizza. Because they have no options for special diets, we couldn't order their obvious mainstay. Overall, it kind of felt like their pizza is naturally good, and they just sort of offer everything else to fill up a couple pages of a menu. read more

I'm a huge fan of pizza places in college towns, and this is one that hits the spot. George's has a friendly staff, delicious pizza (made even more delicious if you dip it in Ranch dressing -- YUM!), and is affordable. Bonus soft serve cones at the exit, so you can indulge your sweet tooth after you've gotten your pizza fix. We got meat lover's when I was here most recently, and it was super tasty. Not too much sauce, crust just the right thickness and consistency (doughy, but not big and filling), and melty cheese that got crispy and bubbly right where it met the crust. The pizza is served bubbling hot, but you can't help yourself from taking a bite, burning your mouth, and taking another bite - it's that good. The super friendly staff rolled with a short-notice order change, suggested exactly the right amount of pizzas for our party, and even asked thoughtful questions to make sure they kept our folks with dietary restrictions safe and helped me carry all of our food out. I have eaten at George's Pizza for 12 years now, whenever I would make the 2 hour trip to see the sites, and always ate here, even though it meant hanging around until it opened. July 30th, 2018 changed all of that. They have moved across the street and apparently left behind the cooks, recipes and good attitudes, along with hand tossed pizza dough. Friend is from Pella and remembered when George was alive, said place changed after his death, but this was the worst she had had, teriyaki steak sauced up but no taste under that, and meat tough to boot. The 2 pizzas I ordered, the 1/2 and 1/2 for granddaughters, and the George's for myself, were little more than something to chew on. Nothing like I have had before there, crust tasted store bought from box, toppings were just there. Kids didn't even like theirs at all. Over $50 dollars for a meal, that I had to send granddaughter to get refill on drink, and then we got to register to be treated badly by the cashier as well. Friend's husband had said place was horrible last time he was there, and woman in store had said she had not eaten there for 2 years because food was bad, but that she had tried it again for some reason and the food was good that time, guessing she got there on good cook's night? Save your money and go to BK, Culver's, Applebee's or the Chinese place. read more

The pesto chicken pizza was very good with a crispy crust and tons of chicken, feta, kalamata olives, and tomatoes. Which the pizzas are good sized and reasonably priced!! The booths were a bit cramped which made it awkward to sit across from someone and made it impossible not to kick them whenever you moved. But overall it was pretty good. Went to George's Pizza last night. It's a really nice restaurant, I could almost classify it as "fancy." The sausage and pepperoni pizza was cooked well and had a good balance of sausage, pepperoni, sauce, cheese and bread. The beef pizza was pretty good as well. The one thing I didn't understand was our waiter didn't come to see if we wanted more water until the pizzas were finished, so that didn't make it as enjoyable.
