George's pizza, what a place. The kind of place one might expect in Hyde Park, given the voluminous student population. It's two seconds walk from the Brude, and open late, to serve reprobates like me a serving of something greasy late night.
We bombarded the man, entering en masse, with several greedy orders. He dealt with it beautifully; he served us with the patience one must acquire working the late shift on a Saturday. I gunned for the chicken and chips, and he countered with: "you can get two pieces of chicken, chips and a drink for £2.50." I'm sure it was that little. I'm almost 99% positive. I took the deal.
To my surprise, two gargantuan portions of chicken accompanied my chips. Not tiny, not average, not generous. Truly massive. This, if for nowt else, is the reason to come back and see George. He'll do you a deal, an unbelievable deal, smile as he serves you, and put up with your lack of balance and sentence structure. I really like George. He can stay.
How was the food? Just as you can imagine. Greasy, but well cooked. Tasty, but terrible for your arteries. Cheap, but you'll be back for more. This has to be one of the better in the area. read more
