Quality is always present at Brio and staff have always had a 'can do' attitude.

They serve reasonably priced drinks and have a decent range of beers and a thoughtful cocktail menu. They have a picture of a weird prince in the back room that looks a bit like George Osborne. The mojito was delicious and had a limoncello foam on it. Very refreshing. The antipasti was truly the highlight of the meal. The meat and cheese was delicious and the bread and onion chutney was perfect with them. If we visit again we would definitely would do more of the antipasti. The Nonna's meatballs were served in a bread bowl. These were ok, but didn't blow us away. However, the bread bowl was perfect for getting extra sauce from the other dishes. The Porchetta Crostone was a highlight of the meal. Very flavorful, the bread was crispy and it was a good mix of sweet and salty. This would be something we'd order again as well. The Sicilian Paccheri was a pistachio pesto pasta and was cooked al dente and was a very tasty pasta: they were generous with the sauce too so we dipped the bread from the Nonna's meatballs in the sauce as well. It wasn't too busy while we were there and we were amongst the last customers there for the evening. The staff was friendly and they were able to bring out our food pretty quickly. The restaurant would be good for date nights, meet ups and small or large groups. While we were there a group of about ten was wrapping up and seemed to have an amazing time as well.

My friends ordered the prawn linguine and the haddock risotto. My friend that had the prawn pasta dish was raving about it, and was still talking about it the next day! I was very disappointed with my risotto. The presentation was terrible and considering it was a mushroom dish, there was more pancetta than mushroom! It was also quite dry as opposed to creamy like a risotto should be. I would not recommend the dish. Two diet cokes ordered, and fairly quickly, the food was brought out. I spotted the waiter being a little over friendly with my companion (poor her), and hoped he might leave off so that we could at least get to eating our fare. Oh dear. Oh dear. I'm not one to complain, I find it hard to waste food - especially when there's an overfamiliar waiter lingering - but I actually had to deposit a mouthful of one bite into my napkin. Well, without taking a leap every once in a while, you'll never discover new things - and I'm glad I risked it. This little Italian place seems, from my initial experience, well worth a dabble. For starters, the menu is varied beyond the usual doughy slop. Every pizza proudly states that it's mozzarella cheese, which immediately piqued my interest. Had I mustered a little more courage to try something different, I'd have gone for the Estiva Pizza: Mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, feta cheese, spinach, olives, onions & garlic. Sounds divine, right? Yes. But, having just gotten back from a festival, vegetables were on the agenda -so I took the veggie pizza. (I know, the ridiculous notion that because it's a vegetable pizza, it's healthy. Don't judge, I am lazy and I was broken.) I also ordered a Lemon Sorbet, from the beverages section, which on arrival was in fact some kind of ice cream actually inside a frozen lemon. I've yet to try it (mostly as I'd forgotten it existed until now) but I'm excited. It looks like it'll be a real mouth pleaser. As for the pizza, well. The only real complaint I had was that the tomato sauce was spread a little thin, and I'd have like a bit more. Perhaps it's not the way it's done. Top tip - order a garlic mayo for dipping the crust. You know this makes sense. On second glance, the menu looks promising for an actual visit, rather than a cheeky just eaty. Plenty of exciting pastas, pizzas and specials -and they even do a range of paninis - presumably for the nearby students at lunch. Don't miss this wee hotspot as it seems, at first try, a bit of a win.
