I called monday to get my 99 prelude inspected he told me Saturday I show up says its going to be a couple hours I call around to get a ride he then explains to me he can inspect it anymore since it's got an "exhaust leak" and has an engine light even though in RI if your car is 25 years old it can pass with an engine light on. DO NOT GET YOUR VEHICLE REPAIRED AT GEORGES. I had brought in my vehicle for an oil leak. They claimed this is all it was, and two days after, I received a call saying the bill would be $220. The next morning when I drove the car 25 minutes to work, oil was still leaking, smoke was coming from the hood, and my check engine light was on. When I called, I stayed calm, and told them the problem. I was answered by an employee who kept trying to overtalk me, and stated that "we'll take a look at it but it is what it is". When I brought my vehicle in for a specific repair, I did not expect the issue to persist and have additional problems on top of this. ONCE AGAIN, DO NOT COME HERE. read more

This was my first visit at George's Gas and I AM SO LUCKY TO HAVE FOUND THIS PLACE. I'm a law school student, so I finally had to change my vehicle documents to reflect that I now live in Rhode Island. One reqt. is obviously an inspection. I called up George because it was the only place that was open after 5pm, which is the most ideal time for a student like me. He was so professional and super friendly on the phone and told me to come into the shop in 15 minutes. I am honestly grateful for George and his colleague, Nuno. Both of them were super nice and George was able to inspect my car and help me put on my front and back plates in less than 12 mins... George is literally an ANGEL SENT FROM HEAVEN. I was quoted $675 for my repairs on Monday and on Friday I was charged $1200. I had to call for updates during the week since I was not contacted. Folks are busy, I get it, but when I spoke to the owner last night there was no mention of the cost being nearly twice what I was quoted. When I approached him after noticing the receipt, he was very defensive and kept asking "what do you want me to do". Simply let me know, because that is a lot of money to me and I wouldn't have had the repairs done on the car. I am proud to say I had my brakes fixed at George's Gas. I originally thought I had a bearing problem, turned out it was a simple as a brake job. George uses fantastic parts from Napa and charges a very fair labor rate. I have had my RI state inspections and a couple oil changes done here, however, I trust him to be a fair and honest mechanic and business owner. He is generous to the community and a fair businessman. Came here for an oil change one lonely Saturday. It's a small family owned establishment with van seats to sit on while you wait. The owner, George (surprise!), is very friendly and helpful. He didn't judge me for waiting until the light came on in my car to tell me I needed an oil change. He was also upfront with the cost (my car needs synthetic oil, which costs a whole lot more than the $29.99 special at JiffyLube). These folks are friendly and professional service, and highly recommended! read more

I found out that a guy went to get his inspection sticker . George was adamant about the guy getting tires a George's so George told the guy .if he didn't get the tires there . George would remove the sticker out of the window .what a jerk .I would never do business with him .he rips people off .the reason no one will do anything about it. George had the town paid off so he gets away with it .but soon he'll get his karma .I've spoken to people who had their cars fixed there .they had a horrible experience .they are afraid to speak up .but me I have balls .I care about people unlike George who is a rip-off and I will post the truth about him read more

My wife & I were faced with a disaster that was left to us unknown from a previous car dealership. George took the time to assist us with taking the time out of his day to call the Rhode Island DMV and wait on hold for quite some time to get to the bottom of the issue for us. By far the best customer service we have received from a garage. He told us to leave the car with him and he would figure it all out for us, then confirmed he would have it all resolved before we returned the next day. He basically did all of the work to accommodate us and with that said ABOVE & BEYOND. He actually cares about his customer clientele and providing the best customer service that he can. He definitely exceeded our standards and completely satisfied all of our troubles. Great man, great business! I highly recommend this garage for any service, or repairs. George sold a vehicle to me for my younger sister, who is in her mid-twenties and desperate at the time. I wrote the check for the vehicle. He had assured her it was in very good condition. He told her if anything did come up, he would work on it for free. I understand that there are inherit risks with older vehicles, but with this assurance and even the nice gesture of volunteer labor if anything else came up that made it seem like this was an ok purchase when the need for a vehicle was urgent. When she talked to him about the check engine light coming on in early November, he chalked it up to "a loose fuel cap or something" after looking at it. A few days later, she asked about the heater not working, and he said he'd look at it when she was around but did not give her any impression that it was anything urgent. A day after that, it overheated. He charged her $400 to fix it (oh, and told her he was taking $50 off for labor-not sure what happened to the freebie previously promised), and then she drove it 20 miles and it broke down again. He refused to look at it again because in the meantime, I had called him and "was rude to him" and he didn't appreciate my attitude because I did ask some questions about how this had happened when he had recently assured her the vehicle was in good condition, as well as just assured her the check engine light being on was nothing to worry about. He told her it wasn't leaking now, so it's ok and she drove 5 miles to a gas station before breaking down again. Now we are over $3800 in to a vehicle that won't run, that did run for only 2 months. From someone who made a big deal about the good condition of it and how he would stand by it. When I spoke with him, he claimed it wasn't his vehicle and therefore had no responsibility for it, but I most definitely wrote a check to him, and he was the one that assured her it was in good condition, and that he would work on it for free if anything went wrong. It's pretty difficult to not make an assumption that he didn't take full advantage of someone whom he thought he could. Pretty disappointing. read more
