I brought my one week old son to Shine Pediatrics for a well child Check. My son's bilirubin was trending up, and he was jaundiced. His provider at the time, Natalie, seemed so knowledgeable, and even arranged home phototherapy for us, so we were grateful. My goal was to breast-feed our son, and that's what I was doing at the time. however, she was concerned that he was burning too many calories at the breast. During the appointment, she asked me "What's your goal with feeding him?" I told her that I wanted to breast-feed. She asked me if I plan to go back to work. I said yes, I work full-time. She replied " you should be realistic with how you're going to feed him. There is no shame in exclusively pumping. that's what I did." looking back at my experience, that was the wrong thing to tell a freshly postpartum and vulnerable new mom. At the time, I just wanted to listen to my son's pediatrician because she was the expert and I was just a new mom. But that appointment made me feel discouraged to breastfeed. Also, I didn't think there was shame in exclusively pumping? But if I wanted to breastfeed my son, she should have been more supportive of that. I am so confused because pediatric providers should encourage breast-feeding. There are so many benefits to it, not just for baby, but for the mom as well. I realize I shouldn't have given up so early in my breastfeeding journey. So now here I am five months postpartum, working with a lactation consultant to get my son to latch again. I asked my husband how he felt about that appointment. He too agreed that Natalie spoke to us in a cold way, kind of like we were stupid. After a follow up appointment with her, we arranged to see another pediatrician for our son. I am a registered nurse. I make it a part of my practice to also listen to patient's family members and provide education and support. Natalie needed to remember that our son wasn't her only patient, but his parents as well. Especially his mom.

Utterly incompetent and completely disrespectful -- especially Jeanne…read more This was one of the most unprofessional experiences I've ever had with a medical provider. We scheduled an appointment for our son over a month in advance, only to have it canceled by the office. We rescheduled, assuming -- reasonably -- that the provider would review his file and determine suitability before putting us back on the calendar. Instead, on the morning of the rescheduled appointment, Jeanne decided to finally review our son's file and then announced she was "not comfortable" providing care. After weeks of waiting. After two scheduled appointments. After no prior warning whatsoever. Yes, they did provide a referral -- but that does not excuse wasting a family's time for over a month or pulling out at the last possible moment. Referring someone elsewhere is meaningless when it comes after repeated cancellations and zero upfront diligence. Mental health care, especially for a child, is not something families can afford to have handled this casually. If a provider cannot determine whether they can treat a patient until the literal day of the appointment, that is not a minor oversight -- it is a fundamental failure of professional responsibility. This was lazy intake, poor judgment, and blatant disregard for the urgency of pediatric mental health care. Families deserve better than last-minute rejections and reactive damage control. I would strongly advise others to avoid this practice unless they're comfortable having their time wasted and their child treated like an afterthought.

Any questions/scheduling needs are addressed quickly, their billing is very transparent/affordable and my appointments are always on time. Dr. Scott Greenspahn is very knowledgeable and has helped push me to make progress with both mental and physical health in ways that I am comfortable with. He collaborates to make individualized plans with his patients and checks in on the progress that was made every single visit. He also is fun to talk to and has a great sense a humor. What more could you ask for a doctor?! I moved to Washington a couple of years ago and knew nothing about navigating medical care in a new state. Prior to finding Coho, I called SO many different practices and either did not receive a call back, was overcharged, or was seen by a doctor who did not spend any time getting to know me/didn't care about my overall health. I was frustrated and close to giving up before I found Coho. This practice provided a completely different experience and my opinion is that this is the way health care should be handled by all medial professionals. I would recommend this practice to all of my friends, family, and anyone who is looking for a doctor that actually cares.
