Although I did sign up with Evo because of the services they offered, this misinformation gave me pause. After speaking with Alana, I was reminded how much I am valued and I value being able to reach a real person immediately when I call. It's also great having a local office I can visit in person. She also assured me that Recon plans to remain family-owned long-term and was willing to match the services at my current rate. That level of accessibility and transparency is important to me, and it makes a difference in who I choose to do business with. The Recon main management claimed not to know who the sales agent was, but in Recon's name, he unlawfully represented the contract, lied about the need for treating earwigs, bullied and coerced me to sign paperwork that I understood to be for a ONE TIME REPAIR to the eaves. It's the "Gotcha' Game" shake down where the paperwork was then used to tie me to services I never wanted. I already have a wonderful pest control service and I repeatedly made it clear that Recon was NOT to trespass on my property for the purposes of spraying toxic chemicals in the yard. I had a "NO SOLICITATION " sign on my door, but at the time, this sales person misrepresented himself by saying my son had sent him. My son, being in the trades, often swaps services with other tradespeople, so I felt I had to tread lightly. Well, I later discovered that salesperson used my name, opened a false contract in my name to substitute for the year-service agreement my son had accepted--except that sales person couldn't coerce my son into signing anything or giving his credit card to keep on file. . . . so he used my information. Worse yet--Recon extracted payments through withdrawals using a router number on a check. They did not have any legal authority to deduct automatice payments from my checking account. They didn't even have legal authority to trespass in the first place. They were forbidden to apply ANY chemicals to my yard, so by claiming to have done so is admitting to more trespassing and vandalism. If they so much as park along the curb of my house, I'm going to call the police--and you should, too.

It's now the middle of July, and he still hasn't re-scheduled with us. It's also difficult to get him to schedule according to my schedule. I understand he's busy, but without a bit of accommodation, he won't have a customer anymore. We have to meet to exchange keys, but the tenants need a 24-hour notice that he's coming. I can't do that when he calls me the day before and says I'll be there tomorrow. I do wish this could be worked out.

Honest company - Travis was great!…read more The first company I called came out to give me an estimate for bat exclusion in my covered porch ceiling (exposed rafters because all plaster had been taken down and we needed to put up the beadboard ceiling). Although I had seen bat droppings for a couple of years, I was not that concerned because we didn't use the porch as it was in the remodeling process. I never saw any bats and I tried to look at dawn and dusk to see them. The estimate the first company gave me was for $2,033 and the $50 I paid to have them come out would be included in that if I proceeded. They said that would cover the porch ceiling and they noticed a 3rd floor dormer (from walking around outside the house) that might have bats. Our third floor is completely finished and we have no attic. I had a second estimate a week later and Travis from Heartland came out. He was Great!!!! We checked with flashlights and realized there were no openings into the house and he said the bats were likely roosting in the rafters in between feedings in the middle of the night. He said it was too cold for them to stay in the rafters or even the soffit overhang with the low temperatures and to install the beadboard ceiling to seal things up. The third floor dormer was caulked and painted also - no openings there. Travis said he wouldn't give me an estimate as there was nothing to be done! He was very kind and honest and answered all of my questions. He saved me $2,033 and I wish I had called him first.

I continued hearing sounds and decided to call in a second opinion of a company who had a wider portfolio of services that could potentially identify the issue. This second company (Envision wildlife and pest) immediately latched on to the idea of bats since I had already had the inspection completed by Heartland Humane and spent less than 10 minutes on my property trying to convince me that I needed to spend $1400 to do bat exclusion because they found entry points and droppings on my roof. He event went as far as telling me the bats could come out of the attic through my bathroom vents and if they made contact with me, I can guarantee I've been bitten and should seek treatment for rabies... naturally I was extremely terrified to continue staying at my house. I felt uneasy about the whole situation since the second company tried to pressure me into treatment so quickly and I decided to call Heartland Humane back to reinspect and make sure that nothing was missed in the initial inspection. They came out and reassured me that I DO NOT have a bat problem by re-inspecting the roof and attic. The owner could tell I was very uneasy about the whole situation and went out of his way to install an exit tube on the roof in case I was dealing with a one off issue even though he saw literally no signs of this being necessary, just to ease my mind and make me feel comfortable in my own home. I am so grateful to have come across a company who isn't after scamming consumers out of thousands of dollars for an issue that doesn't exist. Had I needed to do exclusion on my house services would have been roughly $600 - 800 going through these folks. Save your money and go with a reputable company who does the right thing.
