There is private street parking in front of the B&B and also a side door for when you stumble back home later that night. Upon entering, immediately one can tell that the Victoria House is definitely well-kept and beautiful. Ben, the owner, has decorated the house in an old Victorian fashion with fabrics and tapestries of all kinds. The first floor holds a living room, 1-2 rooms, a dining area where Ben offers free breakfast, the kitchen and the back entrance to the courtyard. The second floor has 4-5 bedrooms all decorated in their own style but maintaining the Victorian feel. Two more rooms lie behind the house, through the courtyard on the second floor. This is where my room was, the "Chateau". The courtyard was very beautiful. Plants in every knook and cranny, stone walls, vines, wrought-iron tea tables... I wish I could have had breakfast here but it was raining the weekend my friend and I decided to pay NOLA a visit. The stairs to the back rooms were a bit scary though... they could use some refurbishing. The Chateau itself was absolutely AMAZING and beautiful. I could only wish to have my own room look this way but that would be nearly impossible. (Photo of the Chateau is posted.) I fell completely in love with this room. We probably got the best room in the joint. Breakfast was a combination of buttered croissants, peanut butter, jelly, orange juice, coffee, tea, and other random goodies. It wasn't a 5- course meal by any means but it helped settle our hangovers enough to get through the day. Located on Rampart, the Victoria House is right across the street from the Louis Armstrong Park, a short walk to the St. Louis Cemetery, and only 3 short blocks to Bourbon Street. Yes, we had a great time here. We were at the center of everything! Ben is a very nice guy. He is very charming, personable, and helpful. He gave my friend and I some ideas about where to eat and things to see. At only $100 per night, I would say it was a great deal. Other B&B's in NOLA are quite expensive just because they want to be. The Victoria House is a win-win situation: one of the less expensive B&B's and it's close to everything. Check it out if you're ever in town and make sure to reserve the Chateau room!

The layout is beautiful as you walk into a large open concept kitchen/ living room and immediately look out onto the city skyline. I've never stayed anywhere that felt like it had so many of the same conveniences as home. A fully stocked kitchen, a bathroom with tons of storage space and then huge closets in every room. This is an easy space to get comfortable in. The neighborhood is a short walk or Uber drive to every area we wanted to visit, so we valet'd the car for the week and commuted that way. The final comment I have is on the staff. They truly made the visit more enjoyable in that everyone we came into contact with were friendly, accommodating and easy to talk to. Everyone at the front desk would remember us when we walk in at the end of the night and that no only feels good, but makes you feel more safe. This was our first stay at a Domio but I've already noted the other towns they have property in. Will definitely be using them again.

We Uber'd it when we just too tired or it was too late to walk back but mostly we walked. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. The front desk staff was terrific too and they were super helpful with directions and getting us back to the airport by calling a taxi. The price was super reasonable with five of use splitting it.

I usually stay at one of the established B&Bs in the Quarter. This time, I found the pickin's slim as there was a Pirate festival in town and Spring Break in full swing. Hearing over and over that there was no room in the inn, I finally found The Sunburst and emailed an availability inquiry. Innkeepers, Darrell and Glen wrote back that, yes, they could take me in their smaller accommodation, the Diamond Room for $85 a night total. The Sunburst is in the heart of the Faubourg Marigny, my favorite slice of NOLA, just a few blocks from the Quarter. Glen met me when I arrived with news that I'd been 'upgraded' to the only other accommodation they had, a suite at the front of the house. Aparantly there was a no show! This room is fantastic. It's furnished in antques and oriental rugs, features a big livingroom/sitting area with floor to ceiling windows and an equally large bedroom. The bath is modern and has a dual-head shower. There is a well stocked refrigerator: Milk, Orange Juice, Sodas, Bottled Water, Yoghurt and Cream Cheese, all complimentary. A coffee maker and toaster, bagels, assorted cereals, chips and other goodies are also there. A basket of fresh fruit graces my desk. There's even a computer with interent in the room. It's just 3 blocks from the Phoenix (ok: it's my favorite gutter to fall down into when in New Orleans), and just a few blocks further to the music and good eats on Frenchman St. Really: I don't do 5 stars often (ok: so I lie); but this place is the best. It will be my home in NOLA from now on.

We travel quite a bit and prefer to stay in guest houses/B&B's and private apartments over the hotel/ resorts. The Sunburst Inn was an excellent option for us and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. The location is perfect. It's an easy walk to Frenchman and the Quarter just a bit further. It is also a couple of blocks away from the bus stop. There is actually a stop right on the corner of Marigny, but I believe that it is not a pick up stop, just a drop off. The $3 Jazzy Pass is an excellent deal and took us beyond the Quarter. The owners/hosts are friendly, informative and welcoming. Parking was easy and for the most part hassle free. But you really do not need a car. Our room was large, extremely comfortable and very clean. The bed is very comfy and provided us with pleasant nights of uninterrupted sleep. Which is not the norm for me when sleeping in a strange bed. Mind you, they do not bill themselves as a B&B. So don't expect breakfast. They do offer a fridge stocked with soda, water, juice and milk and coffee. They also provide a basket of snacks and cereal. Everything is replenished as needed. If you want a full on brekkie, there are plenty of places nearby. Plus this set up also is great for late night snacks ;) We will definitely return to the Sunburst Inn when our travels take us back to NOLA. Thank you Glenn & Darrell for your hospitality!

Word of caution, it is an old house. If you travel during winter, some showers run cold to warm water. The river room had the hottest shower. We stayed in the room with the outside shower and it was cold. We used it but it was because we needed to wake up! We all enjoyed the experience and it will be one we will never forget!

And every single stay has been unforgettable. There are so many places to stay in New Orleans, and The Chimes might not be the cheapest, but it is absolutely the BEST VALUE in the city. What you get here- the hospitality, the comfort, the neighborhood, the LAGNIAPPE are all worth far more than the price. The Chimes is in the Garden District: safe, walkable, clean, and just a short walk to the streetcar and Magazine Street. Parking is incredibly easy. Jill can even help you get Jazzy Passes to explore the city like a local. The rooms are cozy and full of New Orleans charm. Breakfast is now an optional add-on, and I highly recommend it -- eating in the main house, talking with Jill, and meeting other guests is priceless. It's the kind of experience that makes this unforgettable! And Jill.. What can I say ? She is simply one of the most extraordinary human beings I've ever met. This RV place solved one of my main problems: I need a secure place within walking distance of the…read moreFrench Quarter. It was costly, but it served that purpose and for that I'm happy. However: We got to New Orleans in the middle of a heat advisory. It was REALLY hot. We don't have A/C in our vehicle but are prepared to manage it...and we did. Lots of ice, fans, and we spent a lot of time during the day inside venues. The swimming pool at this place was HOT. Like, 95 degrees hot. I suppose, aside from actively cooling it, there's not much they can do about this, but I also know that N.O. is prone to being hot like this so I wouldn't expect the pool to be much of a perk. Having 24/7 ice machine was great. We definitely used that. There was a very nice australian couple at the spot next to us that we struck up a conversation with on our first night. They had a rental RV and the A/C was broken so they were struggling like we were and we had a good laugh about that. The next day, we came back and the gentleman came over and told me that the people that run the RV park had refused to let him put some water bottles in the freezer and that they had called the police on him so I shouldn't be alarmed if the police showed up. Sure enough the police came and the nice couple was trespassed off the property....because they had tried to put some water bottles in the freezer inside. They were not offered a refund. The officers were nice enough but....this seemed like a total dick move on the part of management. Everyone was VERY hot...like...flex a little, you know? You've also read other reviews so you know that they're right by the freeway. We knew this and were prepared. HOWEVER- there is also a SHRIMP PROCESSING PLANT on one side...right over the wall from our spot...and let me tell you, during a HEAT ADVISORY the last place you want to be is next to a SHRIMP PROCESSING PLANT. It smelled like low-tide and death. It was horrible. Also, the trucks began showing up at about 5:30 to load up on, presumably, shrimp. The workers were yelling at each other and revving their cars. We were woken by it most mornings. The place is for sale. There are signs up in every parking spot announcing that it's for sale. While the location is clean...they don't really seem to care much for the customers...like maybe they're already checked out? Another odd thing: the first morning that we were there (we got there Friday night so I'm talking Saturday morning) their grounds crew started mowing the lawn at 7am. Mowing and using the weed whacker right at our spot. There was no sleeping. They were literally mowing around our trailer. A foot away from my head. The next day, Sunday, after the nice australian couple had vacated their spot, there was a guy there weed-whacking that spot. Very early in the morning. So- we were woken early every morning by unneccesary noise and shrimpy fish stank. Short story: This place is super expensive. If we were in an RV we might have been happier, but...they are not going out of their way to help anyone in need, and in fact are making decisions that are not in the best interests of their guests. If you do something they don't like, for whaterver reason, they'll just boot your ass off the property and use NOPD to do it. I don't think I'd go back, but if you're looking for a spot close-ish to Bourbon Street and are in a sound-proof RV, it might not be so bad.
