Highly highly recommend The Chimes. In a perfect spot of New Orleans... right by Magazine & St. Charles. Jill and her husband were so kind, wonderful and attentive. My best friend and I felt so comfortable and right at home. Would recommend this to absolutely anyone and will definitely be staying here anytime I come to Nola!

My mother and I just spent four days at Chimes and absolutely LOVED every minute of it. From walking out of the steamy NOLA heat and into a chilled room and a fresh pitcher of water to cool your throat. Jill was a font of info as to what to do and where to eat. Uber dropped us off and picked us up right outside (we didn't want to drive in downtown NOLA) and the closest streetcar stop is a quick 5-minute walk. The neighborhood has excellent eateries and quirky stores to pop your head into.

This is a beautiful inn in a nice neighborhood of New Orleans, and an easy walk to interesting and eclectic Magazine Street. The courtyard is shady and pleasant, and the hosts are friendly and helpful -- and present, which is nice. Room was very well appointed, and updated yet still very charming. Current Covid measures take some of the fun out of staying at a place like this -- reception on your own, missing breakfast together in the lovely dining room .....but that's the way it goes. Still, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

I stayed here for a weekend in April for a friend's wedding in the Garden District. It was very nice, inviting, and friendly! They even had a few non-guests join breakfast because their B&B was full and the non-guests had to find other lodging, but were invited back for the meal. The B&B is run by a married couple who will greet you, show you around the place, and eat breakfast with you. They've owned the place for about 22 years. They have 5 rooms and all have their own bathroom. My room was next to the kitchen (small discount for the breakfast-making/eating noise) and was super comfortable with fresh orchids, water, a small tv, window a/c unit, and a sound machine. A thin folder contains recommendations for places to eat around the area. With the a/c turned on and my earplugs in, I slept like a baby til breakfast. The sound machine probably comes in handy during winter when you're not using the a/c. There is a large courtyard outside with a pretty garden and swing and chairs to relax, read, and chat with guests. The resident orange tabby cat was spotted a few times running away from people. Other guests were friendly - breakfast felt like a warm hostel, but with middle-aged people. The location was really great, within walking distance of Magazine Street. It was a nice area of the Garden District, with lots of restaurants, cafes, and shops and not as crazy and touristy as the French Quarter. Rates are $140-160 per night, inclusive of tax. Street parking/couple of off-street spots, wi-fi & Ethernet Internet connection, and breakfast all included. I would love to come back here!

The B&B is located in the Garden District, away from the overly touristy French Quarter, in a much more relaxed and authentic neighborhood. It's a very walkable area, with lots of bars, restaurants and shops nearby. Parking on the street is also free, and we never had an issue finding a spot nearby. Our host, Ray, was wonderful. She coordinates your arrival to make sure she can check you in when you get there and give you a little tour and explain how all the keys work. She also provides small breakfast snacks in the morning. Her banana bread and cupcakes were delicious! The house itself has such an authentic feel to it, which we really appreciated. I do agree with others saying the bathroom being outside of the room on the top floor was a bit weird, but you don't share it with others so it's OK. There were plenty of towels provided, as well as soap, shampoo and conditioner. Inside of the room, there was water, orange juice, a mini fridge, a microwave, glasses, cups and cutlery. There were also AC units in the windows, so you can stay cool as it heats up outside. The one issue I personally had, is that I have a massive dust mite allergy that started acting up from the first night I spent in the room. It's an older house, so it is to be expected. The allergy only got worse as time went on and I had to take Zyrtec for the duration of our stay because my eyes and throat were very itchy and inflamed. If you suffer from the same allergy, either bring your meds or be prepared to deal with potential issues. Apart from the allergy issue, I highly recommend staying at the Garden District Bed & Breakfast because you won't find a more authentic NoLa experience than this!

Be aware, the bathrooms are tiny and the mattresses are very firm. Our friends had no problems with their mattress, but my husband and I had extremely sore backs. The food offerings were grab and go items like bagels, granola bars, drinks, apples and bananas, and homemade baked goods. The banana bread is delicious! Our porch and patio were beautiful. Our room also had a little kitchenette with a sink, fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. We were given a jug of drinking water, and the kitchen was stocked with utensils and dinnerware. Location is really convenient for restaurants and shopping along magazine street or exploring the garden district.

Of course, we couldn't wait to see what's inside. :) Cindee, the lovely owner, met us on arrival and after we were settled in, sat us down in the kitchen where she briefed us with a map in hand and shared much information on the places we were planning to visit. They were particularly useful since it was our virgin trip to New Orleans. From where to go, how to go and where to eat! She has it all covered! The Horizon room which we stayed in located towards the back of the house was very clean and peaceful. The Queen size four poster bed was immensely comfortable with amazingly soft and smooth sheets that I can't help but doze off within minutes. The bathroom was spacious and although it looked like it came from the 70s, my hot shower wasn't compromised in anyway. The citrus scented shampoos and soaps were lovely too. The breakfast Cindee prepared was delightful and healthy. We had plain yoghurt topped with granola and berries, some raisin toast, followed by a spinach and cheese quiche with really tasty bacon. A guest who sat on my left ate only the raisin toast and I felt bad for him. Like the earlier reviewer mentioned, it'll be great if she could note down our breakfast preferences. I pictured Cindee to be chatting with us or sharing some interesting stories while we munch our breakfast but I guess she was too tied up in the kitchen. On location, SCBB is located a few blocks off the Garden District area. We appreciate the short, easy walk to take the street car on St. Charles Ave which takes you the Garden District, Arts District and the French Quarter. The wait time for street car which I have timed, is around 15min or less. We had Cynthia, the driver that Cindee recommends, to take us to the airport and though she didn't give a hand with the bags/ luggage, we are definitely glad that she arrived early. Although we stayed for just one night, saying goodbye to Cindee felt like saying goodbye to an aunt. Well, as they say, staying at B & Bs is akin to staying with your aunt/uncles- I guess it does really feel like one!

I…read moresubmitted the online Inquiry Form and, in a matter of a few hours, I had a response from Andrea Muschenborn Charlaix, Sully Mansion's lovely owner. Andrea was a dream to work with...had answers to all of my questions, suggestions when I needed them, and a calm and efficient demeanor that enabled me to have all of the planning complete (with a contract in hand) by the next day; this was important as I was planning the shower only four weeks in advance. I literally booked this amazing place without ever seeing it in person. I was not disappointed as this is the most beautiful property! The 1890 Garden District mansion itself is stunning, on a corner and surrounded by a wrought iron fence. The huge porch and courtyard area are so welcoming but they don't compare to the beauty inside the mansion. The decor is stunning, with so many period details...stained glass windows, transoms, massive doors with intricate hardware that are like little works of art. Every room is a feast for the eyes, with beautiful upholstery and draperies, chandeliers and cozy seating areas. The massive carved staircase in the foyer is an ideal location for photo opportunities. Our luncheon was served buffet-style and it was exquisite and abundant, both in presentation and taste; guests raved about the food and beverages! We had women and men in attendance and there was something for everyone. We elected to bring in the desserts as the mother-to-be had some specific requests; Andrea made sure we had a beautiful table for them and her staff took care of cutting and serving the cake. In addition, a lovely table was prepared in the living room for gifts. Sully Mansion's staff are the loveliest women you could hope to meet. We never had to ask for anything; the food was constantly replenished and drinks served with a smile. I never saw a discarded dish or glass on a table, they magically cleaned up after us all day without being seen. I was sad to see the party end as it was just so perfect in every way. I don't know enough adjectives to adequately describe Sully Mansion, or the women who give it life, but I cannot imagine a better venue for a celebration...shower, wedding, birthday party, etc. Do not hesitate to plan an event at this stunning property! **-We did not need any of the accommodations at the mansion but we were able to see some and they are fabulous, with updated bathrooms and air conditioning and gigantic beds. There was a last minute cancellation that popped up, the reviews and price was right, so we took a chance on the B&B route. The Terrell House is a 3 story Italianate mansion built in 1857 (if I remembered that correctly) and perfectly hidden in plain sight on one of Uptown's main streets, Magazine. You're a short streetcar or Uber into the CBD or French Quarter and an equally brisk walk the other direction uptown to Garden District attractions. Beyond the main house rooms, there are also accommodations in the carriage house overlooking the courtyard as well as suites at the Creole house. There seemed to be a size and price for just about any traveler. Our room ended up being in the carriage house and was spotless, quiet and comfortable. The room came with everything you'd expect in a hotel room plus toiletries, coffee, snacks, water and sodas gratis. Service was excellent throughout our stay. They helped us grab luggage and unload the car as well as point me to open street parking nearby. Your stay also includes a complimentary breakfast which is not to be missed. Our two mornings had perfect starts thanks to a fantastic breakfast spread and visiting with other travelers. As long as there's an open room, I'm fairly certain the Terrell House will now be on our must stay list when heading to New Orleans.

I let Patrick know in advance and he said to remind them the day before, which happened to be our check in day. He said they could do eh sandwiches or something if we were OK with that. There is another common area porch on the Washington St side which is covered and was also pleasant when ours was too sunny. The only comment about that particular room is that it being on the front side, there was some street noise. I think all the other rooms would be a little quieter. I doubt it would bother you, unless you really need it quiet. The house, as others have said, is truly grand. Tall ceilings, wood staircases, and period furniture really made this feel like a comfortable antique. I see some reviews that complain of the old furniture and aged feel. If you like it new, plumb, and square, you should stay at HoJo's. If you like it with the character that only time can bring, you'll adore this house. Some reviewers have also commented on the breakfast. I think those are old and no longer valid. It is not a full service breakfast, but we were served items that were fresh, local, interesting, and varied. Threre was also staff on hand to offer the hot item of the morning, should you wish it. One morning was quiche, for example. We appreciate your hospitality!

My wife and I met another couple for a weekend in New Orleans and we decided to find a place on St…read more Charles rather than amidst the silliness in the French Quarter. We found Grand Victorian and decided to give it a try despite some mixed reviews. We loved it! First, the location is as good as it gets. GVB&B is in the heart of the Garden District. You can walk to Commander's Palace. You can hop on the St. Charles trolley car and be on Canal Street in 10 minutes, or go the other way and be at Tulane in 10 minutes. If the weather is nice (and we picked a perfect weekend), there are any number of things you can walk to. The house itself is beautiful. Stunning, really. It is furnished with a lot of period pieces, and if that means you pine for every modern creature comfort that you could find at the InterContinental Hotel, well, you should have stayed at the InterContinental. But as B&Bs go, I thought it was lovely. Our room was not especially spacious, but it was big enough. The bed was comfortable, the shower worked, the rest of the house provides porches and sitting areas for conversation or reading or just relaxing. It had a small TV .... but if you are in New Orleans to watch TV ... go to the InterContinental. I have read some complaints here about the breakfast and true, it's not a "full breakfast". But I thought it was just fine. Good coffee, juices, cereals, breads, fruits. It was plenty, it was well presented, and nice. If you want eggs benedict ... go to the InterContinental. Plus, there are snacks available, gratis, all day long. That is a very nice touch. Finally, I don't know about you, but I don't fill up on breakfast while in New Orleans. There are SOOOO many great places to eat lunch and dinner in the Big Easy, why are you filling up at a B&B? Habit, I suppose. The innkeeper, Bonnie, is friendly without being too intrusive. She will take the time to help you plan your stay in New Orleans if you want. She cares about her guests. I thought she was great. Why didn't I give it 5-stars? Well, the only thing I didn't like was the required 3 night minimum during a "festival weekend" (we were there during the Blues and BBQ fest), but of course that is a testimony to the popularity of GVB&B. It's not a super-pricy place, but it is a bit higher priced than we would usually pay. And the room is on the small side. But all-in-all, I think it clearly deserves 4 stars. We will be back.
