Maritza does beautiful lash extensions. Very professional. Highly recommend.

After sometime of last coming here, I have to update my review. I stopped coming here because after my package of so many touch ups, I felt that I was getting a little ripped off. Trust me when I say that I miss my lashes but I don't miss dishing out so much money. When looking back, I had came back for every touch up possible. I obviously wanted to get the bang for my buck so I decided to wait about 10 days or more. Whenever I came in, I always had to pay more in addition to whatever I had originally paid for getting a package. So my advice to new customers is do not buy any package. Just pay up front when you get your services. One downer is that you, as a customer, can't really decide or know what you need. Sometimes, I felt that I needed a fill but Maritza would inform me that I would need more for the fuller look that she really believed in. So while I thought that a $50 fill would do the job, I'd often have to pay about $75 or more. Personally, I like knowing what I am paying or about what I am paying. I would lay down for her to fill my lashes and she would tell me that it was going to be more than expected. I have to admit, she worked with me sometimes but even so, I felt that it was too much for the product. To top it off, there really isn't a guarantee to how long these lashes will last. For some, it will be about a week, others even longer but for me, it was about a week until I needed to get a fill. This was the biggest concern for me. I would come in and each and every time, we would talk about how I take care of my lashes, what is going on to change the length of how long they were staying, etc. Each time, nothing was really said to be the reason for why my lashes didn't last that long. We even tried making the lashes shorter, thinking that my lashes weren't strong enough. This didn't change much. Overall, I liked coming here but I have to say that there are some pros and cons. I want to be completely honest for new customers. I loved my lashes and she definitely informed me of the differences, scams and what not but I feel that there should be a set price for a fill. For instance, 25 individuals for $50 then if a person wanted more lashes, then it would require more money. Just saying... read more

It's been a very long time since I got eyelash extensions, I don't particularly enjoy the procedure so I don't get it often. The lady worked on my lashes about an hour and half, I chose more natural length, I wouldn't want my lashes to look too fake. The glue was burning my eyes, especially my left eye. Guess I am just too sensitive, but it passed eventually, phew, I really hated that part every time I get eyelash extensions! Turned out she did a great job, my lashes look much longer but still natural looking, very pretty! For $150, it was worth it, I will be back for retouching every 2 or 3 weeks for sure! read more

So this is a long over due review, came here and got a deep tissue and reiki session from Elizabeth. Wow! Let me just tell those reading how amazing that was! I have been to Massage envy and massage green spa (both corporate) and none of those experiences or quality of service have outdone any of my experiences here at Gentle touch spa with Elizabeth! She's very communicative, friendly and professional! Her compassionate and insightful nature really shines through when she uses her expertise and she is very knowledgeable. For example she encouraged me to try and do yoga to alleviate back pain and stiffness, which, has helped me tremendously! That kind of level of customer service is amazing, when you have anyone that cares that much, it is rare ! The reiki session was an out of this world type of an experience in the best way possible! If you ever wanted to try one, definitely would recommend Elizabeth to you ! Words can't describe well enough, you would just have to try a reiki session. Closest things in words I can use is that it felt like an out of body experience! The friendliness and professionalism I received here at Gentle touch spa from Elizabeth and Maritza deserve this positive review. They were the only staff I met here but just want to say Thank you so much for providing a place for much needed pain relief and healing! Also appreciate your kindness, and the peaceful and healing vibes, it is very nice inside ! To those reading this, take some time to take care of you, if you are on the fence, hopefully this review will help you ! Thank you again Elizabeth, and Maritza for the experiences and healing here at Gentle touch spa! If I had 24 hours to live I would definitely spend a portion of it getting a deep tissue and reiki session here if I could ! I would definitely recommend a deep tissue or reiki here! read more

Don't be fooled by others....if you are looking for fabulous and gorgeous yet amazingly natural looking lashes don't look else where. I love my new long lashes thanks to Maritza, she is amazing with her work, she takes her time to assure every lash is placed in a right spot. Keep that in mind initial set takes around 130 to 2 hours....however the setting is so relaxing. Dim light....gentle music with soothing sound of waterfall while wrapped in a blanket puts me in even better mood. Im glad I found Maritza and I recommend her highly.... read more

Know when you are going to Gentle Touch Spa you are in good hands. I have been going for a solid year and I have no idea why i haven't reviewed my bi-weekly oasis here on YELP. Perhaps, I was trying to keep this place a secret...Perhaps this "shangri-la" (tucked away in Headlines Salon) has helped restore my zen and I had become selfish and didnt want to share my Goddess of 'zenergy' (Maritza) with anyone! (yes, I know, bad me.) You will see for yourself, Maritza's positive energy and energetic personality is contagious and empowering. In addition to the positive feeling and grace Maritza exudes, she uses the elements such as the sound of water and gentle natural music to extract our crazy lives out of us and RELAX!!!! The lights down low, rich ruby colors drape along the walls - almost a Moroccon nights feeling. Initially, I came for my dull lashes. Maritza consulted me with the "look" I wanted - for athletic/natural to drag lashes - she can really put it on. Unlike most places that count the number of lashes applied, she will apply individual lashes with a steady hand and help you get the fluttery image you want to achieve. When she was done with her magic (about an hour) my eyes just popped, natural, soft and wow!!!! Now, every few weeks I return to Maritza to not just get a fill or a facial, but to recharge. It seems that her 'Gentle Touch' literally soothes my soul and calms me after a long day's work. Over the past year, it's not uncommon that I fall asleep while she is doing my lash application. Maritza is certainly passionate about pampering us humans - I know both men and women go to see her. If I can provide any advice to my fellow Yelper's it is: Make the time. For a moment, treat yourself - You owe it to yourself to be pampered, you're worth it - I owe it to myself, I'm worth it. read more

Maritza was incredibly accommodating and extremely patient. I came here after a long drive from Santa Monica, and was running late. I called to let her know that I would be 15 minutes late and she offered to stay open later than that for me. She brought me into the room where she would be applying the lashes, but we spent about 20 minutes discussing different options for my liking. I had had them done once before and I hated it, so she made sure to explain every little detail. I was extremely adamant about not having a dramatic look. I wanted to make sure they looked real and natural, and she did just that!! She explained to me that she would not add a full set, just a few, and if I wanted more she would add more. The end results were perfect!! They were not too full, and very natural looking and I will definitely be going back for touch ups! Thank you Maritza!! =) read more

This is a quote from the salon owner: "Good morning this is Maritza from gentle touch spa to confirm your appt at 9:10 please let me know if you are coming otherwise your appt will be cancelled." I made an appointment with the owner, Maritza (who was going to do the service) less than 24 hours prior to my appointment meaning I spoke to her directly at 2pm on Saturday, June 18, 2016. My appointment was made for Sunday, June 19 at 9:10am, THE FOLLOWING DAY. I was at the salon exactly at 9:10am and the door was locked so I called. This is a quote: "I called you and texted you this morning you didn't call back. I thought you cancelled. Sunday like this (whatever that means) people tend to no show all the time. That is why I called to make sure you are coming. No problem, no problem. I will be there in few minutes." She totally stereo-typed a new client. She also didn't properly apologized after making me wait there for 20 minutes in 100 degree weather. Instead she said, "Sorry. You know how it is. People tend to cancel on Sundays. Especially if it's new client." I don't know how it is, really. read more

Maritza is AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!! I went to her after reading all the great reviews on yelp... She is wonderful. I wanted to get lash extensions done. As it it turned out, my lashes were really damaged since I had went somewhere else previously and their "eyelash extensions" pulled out my natural lashes! :'( So I have gaps in my lashes... Maritza could have EASILY done the lashes for me, charged me full price and sent me on my way... But she didn't... She cares enough about her clients that she explained the lash growth process to me and even applied a few lashes for me. So now I look like have lashes! :) Gonna go back for re-touch & hopefully by then my natural lashes will have grown in the empty gaps and I can get a full set of lashes... I'm DEFINITELY recommending her to anyone I know who needs lashes done! She makes you feel so comfortable during the process and she is so very kind... She also does facial & massage so I'll for sure be going to her! FYI: she isn't on Torrance Blvd anymore... She's in Downtown Torrance off of Cabrillo between Carson St & Torrance Blvd 2 doors down from the laundromat... It's in the process of being remodeled so expect that... I can't wait to see the new place! GO TO HER! SHE WILL DO WONDERS FOR YOU!!!! Trust me, she will NOT disappoint! A+++++++++++++++++ read more

I got a lunchtime facial from her and it was as relaxing as it can be! she knew exactly what time of skin I had and recommended products.

Amazing eyelash extensions from the beautiful Maritza! I've been going for years. Great energy and calming environment.

Last minute plans led to this last minute salon. By far one of the biggest mistake I have made. At this point iv been to so many lash salons that I've seen it all but this one beat all of them. From the burning glue in my eyes and Martha not doing anything to help all she said was it will go away as your eyes are closed..I'm sorry what?! Burning glue in the eye does not just go away, not even a mini fan to soothe it until she was done she turned on the fan. Man when I first met Martha she looked really nice and is really nice but I've never felt such an eye burn that I had to get my eyes check after my trip. Anywho moving forward with my touch up. The final result? From far they looked nice but up close you could see that lashes were glued together ALL OVER. When I say all over I mean all over the lashes and eye lid that it left me a red scar from the glue and lash. So sad. Multiple lashes were glued on top of each other that you could feel he heaviness of the eyes. I'm not going to lie but it hurt. Never have I felt such heavy lashes and it was all because I was so jammed packed with glue that the my eye doctor told me I had to take them out as they were improperly put and glue was all over my eyelid and all lashes synthetic and natural. So many fell out and I still feel the pain in my eyes. Not worth the money. I think My journey of trying to try different salons is coming to an end after the damage this place has done to not only my lashes but my eye. Here's a picture of my natural lashes and 3 other lashes glued on it. No this was not my previous girl as she is the best in the game this was all Martha's doing. *tear read more

My face has been breaking out due to stress lately and I finally decided I needed to do something about it. I found this place and was able to make an appointment on the same day (Saturday)! After taking to Maritza about my skin, she recommended a facial for me. It was great. A peel, microdermabraision, cleansing, massage..... I felt so relaxed. Over the next few hours, I noticed my skin was remarkably different. This morning when I woke up, my skin was so good! In less than 24 hours, I went from skin that make me self conscious to skin that made me confident again. I will be going back! It was a bit expensive, but I needed to relax and the difference that it made to my skin was enough to make me understand the value! read more

First time customer here and I wanted to share my most recent experience. I did a reiki healing session for the very first time and was comfortable and relaxed the entire time. My healer was very informative and explained the entire process to me from beginning to end. After the session I felt very relaxed and at ease but what really amazed me was how well I slept the night of. I wasn't sleeping very well and constantly tossed and turned but after the session I had no problem falling asleep and woke up feeling refreshed. I will definitely be coming back. read more

I came here to have my lashes done for my Birthday. I was a little skeptical since some reviews were not good but I decided to give them a chance since then are local and I need someone local so I can maintain my lashes. I love how my lashes came out I'm on day 3 with them and they still look amazing which again I was worried since some reviews said after day 2 they didn't have much lashes left. So far I'm impressed and will be coming back to get my refill in 2 weeks and I have already refereed a few friends. read more

I usually get my lashes done elsewhere. However, where I usually go was closed. I found Gentle Touch on Yelp and made an appointment for a quick touch up on my lashes. I had one patch that was missing and didn't want to spend full price on a refill when the rest of my lashes looked great. Elizabeth worked me in and did a good job in filling in my missing space. The price was very reasonable for what I needed. She was great for a back up person and I would definatly go back. read more

Maritza's NOT ONLY kind, knowledgeable, beautiful and a perfectionist, she's also honest, a great listener and a friend to her clients. I have been coming to Maritza for almost 6 years now and my skin has changed drastically. I suffered from the worst acne scars and had HUGE pores, with seeing her monthly and changing my diet you would NEVER know I had such horrible skin. I love her microdermabrasion, her pumpkin peels and NO ONE gives a better neck decollete massage. If you can relate, TREAT yourself to a Micro-facial, we ALL deserve to feel beautiful and look our best and Maritza will yake you there :) read more

The owner Maritsa assisted another girl in doing my eyelashes, which cost 125.00 and took them 2 hours which they didn't even finish due to me having to finally ask them to stop so I could leave and make it to my birthday dinner. Later that night my eyes became very red and itchy, I waited to see if it would go away, which it didn't two days later I call her and inform her what happened. She offered no refund of any kind. She said this happens sometimes. She argued that it's me and my sensitive eyes instead of owning the fact that she put a less then product on her customers. Eyes are sensitive, it is not the first time I had the service done just the first time I went to this establishment due to the fact my normal place Blossom Beauty Lounge in redondo beach was booked that day. Also at blossom its way nicer inside they charge 25.00 less and your by the beach! Plus they use quality products! No allergy reaction there! And the set takes them only 1 hour! Cammy the owner is always humble always sweet. That's how a good business thrives hence why they are so booked. Never returning to the harsh touch shitty products spa again!! read more

Gentle Touch Spa - If u do not want red itchy burning eyes like this do not get lashes here! The quality of product used is shit! - Eyelash Service Near Me - Torrance, California

Not thinking I would be able to make a last minute facial appointment, I gladly was mistaken. Just as I walked in I was pleasantly greeted. The ambience in the facial room is excellent. The room is a portal to a rustic Guadalajara abode filled with soothing music and calming decor. The facial matched the ambience. Maritza was able to thoroughly review my skin type and conditions to help me choose the ideal facial. I ended up getting a European facial with a pumpkin peel. My skin looked ten times better. It was clearer and cleaner than ever before. In addition to the facial, Maritza helped me develop a better skin care regime to continue at home. She provided all these services at a reasonable price. I will definitely come back. read more

If you love a perfectionist, who's also sweet, then you have to go to Maritza. She did renewed my faith in eyelash extensions. I went to her to have my lashes redone after practically all of them (which wasn't much, in the first place) fell out, and in a weeks' time. After she did my lashes, they were full, beautiful, and natural looking. I also love that her business is close to me. Can't wait to go back again. read more

Found Maritza on Yelp and read a lot of her great reviews so I made an appt for today at 3:30. .. Drove there and her doors were locked so I knocked and didn't get an answer. I had to call and leave a msg. She called back and I waited for 10 minutes. Really hot outside! Would have been nice if she let me know ahead of time. Didn't get too irritated but it already started off weird. Well at least to me. Anyways, her place was nice and pretty and it looked really stylish. The lashes took approximately 1.5-2 hours. I read that she is a perfectionist. I don't think she is. I also don't think she is so gentle because she jerked at my lashes a couple times in my left eye tugging and check this out-- she didn't say anything like-- sorry, are you ok?-- did that bother you? blah blah. And when I told her that my eyes were tearing, she said she knows because what she was doing with my left eye. Okay-~~ I was kind of annoyed that her head rest was uncomfortable and 30 minutes into getting my lashes done, someone came by to talk to her about property. She simply got up and didn't tell me where she was going and went to talk to this lady for like 10 minutes while I'm in there waiting for her to finish her personal business. I thought that was weak sauce and she could have atleast told me so I wouldn't be annoyed in my mind with my eyes closed. My right eye looks fuller to than my left-- because she missed the edge on my left eye. They look okay. After she was done, she didn't offer me a mirror to look at them. She just took a picture to show me my lashes, then she walked to the front to collect my money. Hahah!! I was like- lol no rapport at all huh? I didn't want to be rude so I paid her and said thank you and tipped her $20. Btw it was $149 plus my gratuity. I was happy to get in my car with my new lashes until I looked in the mirror in my car. Like I said, my left is not as full as my right. Where I work, it's really important that you treat your clients like special guest in your home because you want to make a good impression. I didn't feel that way at all and I won't return. Sorry Maritza. 3 stars read more

I've gone to Gentle Touch a few times now. I know that the place is in the process of being updated but I noticed that they don't change the clean or change the covers you lay on regularly. I listen to Maritza as she often times is interrupted by calls or people walking into her spa. When she gets to your other eye, she tends to push down on the set of lashes that she just put on your other eye (accidentally) giving them a little smashed look. I've also listened to her speak on the phone with customers and have found that she is curt, not very flexible and has a short fuse. Every once in a while her daughter, Elizabeth will work on my lashes when Martiza isn't available. Elizabeth is FANTASTIC. Very sweet and cares about her customers. I wish they offered more packages for full sets, touch-ups, etc. but they don't like some of the other places. I too feel like sometimes I am getting ripped off for the number of times I come to get touch ups. Overall, she is a nice lady but she needs to be a little more caring and empathetic to her customer's needs. read more
