The people who work here claim to be licensed laser educator(s) and medical aestheticians. First of all, getting licensed with a few classes does not make you a medical professional. Do not be misled by their website, sales pitch and their convincing marketing. Look through their reviews on google, yelp and better business bureau. They burned my legs and scarred me for life. While Maria was lasering my legs it felt painful so I asked her to lower the temperature. Her response to me was "no honey, it's all in your head" and proceeded to laser me on the same temperature. After another few seconds of being in pain I told her it really burned and to lower it. Sure enough, She burned my legs!!! & denied it. I even went to a dermatologist, who confirmed it as a burn and to receive proper care for my legs. Sure enough, Maria still denied that she burned me. I got a package of 6 laser treatments for under arms. Maria Gave me a presentation before starting, and told me she works off commission and wanted to sell me more treatments before I even started. Well, I went through the six treatments, and Maria would literally spend 5 minutes tops doing the treatments. I asked her to spend a little bit longer as I thought she missed some spots; the hair didn't go away at all. Now I'm done with all the treatments, and I'm still shaving every day and not even a bit reduction in hair. I called Maria and she told me she would work with me, so I scheduled another appointment. I put off writing this review to give my treatment results some time. I originally saw their Groupon and figured, why not. I work close by and the place I went for other laser treatments was just out of the way for me. I did (6) brazilian treatments. After treatments, the hairs fell out like I've experienced before at the place I used to go where I did my underarms. Here I am 2 months after my last session and all of the hair is back. My #1 reason for going is that I'm prone to ingrown hairs down there. My dad had gone there and it didn't work for him on his ears, but against his warning, I gave them a chance and it didn't work for me in the end. I even referred my stepmom to go there for her armpits because, while receiving treatment, it worked for me. They missed spots on her and when she went back, they gave some excuse not owning up to them actually missing it. It's safe to say I'm not returning or referring. I later got to speak with the technician and her answers contradicted what the receptionist, who is also her daughter, had replied. The questions I asked were: "is this a chain business or a single location?" - receptionist said it was a single location owned by her mother. I got the group on for this place for a small area of laser hair removal. I chose the Brazilian. My first complaint is that the Brazilian does not include the whole pubic area, it leaves the bikini line completely untouched, unless you want to pay extra. After my first session, I saw about 60% hair loss. That number hasn't changed in 8 sessions, and now my group on is used up. I have the perfect combination for laser hair removal of pale skin and dark brown hair, so I should have no hair left. I suspect it was due to her lack of thoroughness in making sure she covered the whole area every time, despite my reminding her frequently. She was always very rushed during our sessions and she was frequently running behind schedule. Now, she does seem to have a large and loyal client base, so this can't be everyone's experience. But as for me, I am never going back and I will instead be investing in the Tria home laser hair removal system! read more

Well... Let me start off by saying all the bad reviews this place has received on here are 100% true. After reading the reviews on here about how Maria was a "scam artist, rude and unprofessional" I started to doubt going but instead I said I'll give her a chance and see for myself. I purchased a groupon for 6 laser treatments on my chin and decided to go. Well this woman spent 30 minutes trying to bribe me into paying more money to get my entire face done instead of only my chin. When she finally got the hint that it wasn't going to happen, she showed me the area that was going to be done. It was literally only an inch of my chin. I've gotten this treatment done twice by two different companies and they BOTH did my entire chin. She told me that the bottom of my chin was considered my "neck" and that I'd have to pay more... seriously? my neck? She wanted me to pay an extra $85 for each session. That would of been a total of $510 plus the $80 I already paid for the purchase of my groupon. Making the full total almost $600! This was clearly another way for her to scam me into paying more. She even mentioned that women pay so much for their nails monthly but don't want to pay her more for laser treatment. Thats when i realized all the reviews were true. The results are great, the service is quick and seamless, and both Maria and Nicole make a great mother-daughter team and have been incredibly accomodating. I had no issue getting week day appointments even on short notice. Service: While I had to wait 5-10min prior my turn for all my sessions, the technician works fast and thoroughly (most importantly!). No more shaving, it is awesome! I found the staff & owner attentive and knowledgeable. I have super sensitive skin and had bad reaction at 2 other and much more expensive salons. At Gentle Touch, I was given a cream to apply prior to the session to numb the area and aloe based product to cool and calm my skin afterwards and to my nice surprise, I had no skin reaction. The phone she uses for her business is her personal cellphone so to start off its very unprofessional. I finally scheduled my appointment and this place was a dirty hole in the wall. She didn't ask my name to confirm my appointment and asked what I was getting done - while I was double booked as well and someone waited outside... Thank goodness I arrived first! She rushed me through the appointment and threw a paper in my hand to read and sign. All while basically pushing me saying she wanted to get started even though I hadn't finished reading the waver. I went to have my underarms done - since the instructions she gave me over the phone before the appointment was "no waxing or hair removal". So I hadn't shaved my underarms. When she saw this she was clearly annoyed and pointed out my hair. She then took a pink Bic razor off the shelf and shaved my underarm and put the razor back on the shelf!!! I was too stunned to react. I don't think I need to explain to anyone, especially someone that should be licensed, how unhygienic and unsanitary this is. After that appointment I figured I had paid and already had one treatment so I tried to schedule my next treatment for almost 6 wks without any success. Today was my final session and I must say I a, happy it is over. The location is inside an old historic building in Portchester, with very easy parking in the street. The new waiting room is very large and beautifully decorated with high ceilings and comfortable seating. I did buy the Groupon, but the owner was upfront from the beginning stating some people may need additional sessions beyond the six as it depends on your hair. I found it very easy to make and change appointments via phone or texting to the owner, Nicki. She was very accommodating to my schedule. She is charming and quite straight forward, something I really appreciate. You are in and out quickly, and only once did I have to wait more than five minutes. Not only are the owners the NICEST people ever but also SO accommodating for all types of issues you may have. They'll also crack you up because they're hilarious. For all the reviews you read about the hair growing back and it not being affective -- EVERYONE is different with different hair growths. Go there and try it for yourself. They use one of the best machines available and it hurts less than a wax. I would recommend everyone try it. They also have sweet deals that you won't find anywhere else. Steer clear of this place!!! The woman running this so called business is a scam artist. She is utterly unprofessional and rude. She does not give you the service that you paid for. She covers her machine as she works so that you cannot see the amount of times she lasers an area, or the strength that she puts the machine on. I am unsure of why the other reviewers where so unhappy but I was more then pleased with the servoices I purchased. I got a great deal from the owner and even purchased another package for my husband. The result is I have no more hair in the area she treated. The laser didn't hurt as much as I expected it would and my threshold for pain is not very high so I assume most people wouldnt find it very bad at all. The owner has always made her self available for eac appointment time I requested but has been SLAMMED lately and when I come in has been packed!
