They have a tiny farm there, we saw 2 pigs. More animals available to interact w on Saturdays. Suggested donation $2pp. They take cash there. I thought u needed advanced tickets so bought online but it's really just whoever wants to ride can line up. https://www.svlsrm.org/ Duck pond: tons of duck and geese Water area: part of american river?? Not sure. Can fish there! Playground: With climate change, unpredictable weather, and summers with many days over 100F, would be nice if all parks in the sac area provided shade. This one has shade only over a small set of swings by a picnic area/ by the trains & barn. The main playground had shade near it but no shade over the play structures. Kids going down the slides could get burned- recommend putting up shade to avoid future liability issues. Overall a beautiful park w a good amt of shade, multiple parking lots and multiple picnic areas. Too far for us to come regularly but likely coming back for the train ride during holidays when I think they usually have a Santa there. (You need advance tix for this)

A few chairs are available for owners, plus a little swimming pool filled with water for the dogs. The grass and shade trees make it extra inviting. It's clear this park is very well cared for.

I visited with friends and we had a great time!…read more We checked in on the digital kiosks and then selected balaclava colors before waiting for our turn. At first I was confused why the wait time was so long when the space seemed almost empty, but we learned quickly that the more runs you do the better deal you get, and racing can be pricey. We opted for two rounds since we were new to it and didn't know how long it would take if we did more. Our first race took some time to be called for (about an hour), but we had much less downtime before our second one. While you wait there is an arcade area and a bar. One thing we noticed is that the staff in areas other than the racetrack are much less engaging- I think they must be bored from the lack of people interacting with them or working on things in other places. The bar was frequently unmanned and we learned that they don't offer tap water, only bottled. We also learned that while some packages come with food, if you don't time it correctly you may have to leave the food at the tables to head down to your race. It might be best to wait until after racing to order any food. While we didn't get food during the visit, we found it odd that a bunch of sliders and other food were just sitting around in the bar area unattended, getting cold. There's gotta be a better system. The team on the racetrack was engaged and nice. They made sure everyone was set up, strapped in, and that the races were organized and safe. I was TERRIBLE, but did get better my second round. Our group ended up having a lot of fun. Some things to note- they do put groups together and fill the extra spots with other racers so your group will be together but you may have different people in each heat (depending on how many rounds they bought and when they arrived). Riding with other groups means you may get bumped into and have people of VERY different skill levels. We definitely had some regulars in our group. When someone spins out or needs help all the karts stop so it can really interrupt the race, but I guess that's part of the experience. Overall it's a lot of fun but there's some room for improvement in their non-racing areas.

LOCATION & ATMOSPHERE:  Across from the river access point on Mira Del Rio Drive. Spacious open setup with trees lining the boundary and an open field large enough to play fetch with any size dog. Visited by friendly dog owners and families mostly. FOOD & DRINK:  No food nearby. There are a couple of water fountains and the one near the basketball court has a doggy bowl attached to it. AMENITIES: -Large open field -Picnic tables -Tennis court with 2 nets -Basketball court with 2 goals -2 jungle gyms -Swing set with adult and toddler seats -Standalone book exchange -multiple trash cans -Sidewalks circling the interior of the park and leaving from one side to the other to separate entrances EXPERIENCE:  I love coming to this park. I walk my dog here daily and she has plenty of friends to play with and that huge open field. The neighbors are friendly and the families are fun. The kids are well behaved and there's so much to do and so much space at the park You can say hey passing by or avoid people all together just by choosing a direction to walk in. The park is well maintained by the recreational crew from the state. They come out in and pick up fallen debris from trees, and replace and replant trees. The trash cans are always emptied and there isn't a lot of trash around the park anyway. Randomly I'll see a plate or a can, but looks pretty pristine on the regular. The park is green year round and most of the trees maintain their leaves. The ones that do drop their leaves present the most beautiful fall colors. Making snow, I mean leaf angels is movie-like. The sidewalks that lead around the interior of the park wrapping the tennis court and leading from one side to the other are quite large. I'd say they were about three people wide if not for. You can walk with two people side by side and someone riding a bike past without any worry. Definitely an amenity of the neighborhood that is underrated and overlooked! Only true downfall is that this park doesn't have a bathroom. Could be five stars with that addition, but it's hard to stay here for a long period of time without the ability to relieve oneself.

Thankfully, one Saturday afternoon my son expressed interest in wanting to go skating. We have a skating rink in close proximity to our home; however, it is fairly small and closes it's doors at 5pm on Saturdays. Therefore, we decided to make the slightly longer drive to The Rink. Once the three of us arrived, we were greeted by a very friendly employee who processed the admission and skate rental fees. After my wife and son obtained their skates (I brought my personal pair), we proceeded to locate the lockers for our shoes. We found the automated lockers that costs $5...yes it is expensive for lockers, but I was more concerned that our fairly pricey shoes did not get stolen. Once our shoes were secured, we made our way to the rink floor. I absolutely love the size of this rink, it allows for individuals of various levels of expertise to co-exist in one place. In the past, I have been to some rinks that are so small that you're afraid that you would topple over little people learning how to skate (not saying that it couldn't happen here - it just seems less likely). While skating, I observed something that I have yet to see at a skating rink...parents walking (no skates) on the rink guiding their little ones. I'm not complaining about this, just mentioning it for anyone reading this and wondering how they can ensure that their little ones are safe while skating. This made for a perfect family activity/outing and I burned 522 calories during our 1.5 hours at The Rink...now that's a win-win!
