Our kid has grown so much there and I feel very lucky to have been introduced to this place through word of mouth. He used to go to a larger Montessori preschool but I felt he wasn't getting a lot of personal encouragement. For example, we're a bilingual family so we'll speak Korean at home and English outside and he just wasn't really picking up at English at all before. He became so fluent here, and it's so fun to discover what he's learned! It really feels like a family atmosphere and she really lets each kid thrive in their own way. Logistically it's amazing as well - breakfast, lunch, snacks all provided. The hours are very flexible, as is the different care options (half day, full day, certain days a week, etc). Our kid has tried so many different foods here (I learned he really likes green beans). I'd highly recommend it here, and if you live nearby it's actually amazing for busy parents.

Everyday, when I dropped him off I felt at ease knowing that he was well taken care of. I know this is a main worry for any parent. Not only was he safe he was learning so much! It was amazing to see how much my child grew in such a short time, both in terms of independence and self-esteem. I would highly recommend Livs tot spot!

Rachael made this difficult separation more bearable and comforting. Before we enrolled our daughter officially, she was helpful in showing us her home, and answering any and all questions we had at the time. Especially during these trying times of COVID-19, Rachael has taken all the necessary precautions for the children, herself, and the home to make sure the environment is covid free. Furthermore, it's not a daycare where my daughter is just playing all day. As a 2 year old in her formative years, she enjoys learning through activities Rachael carefully and thoughtfully prepares in advance. We love seeing our daughter come home and wanting to be with her friends and Rachael again the next day as it brings us peace in having to be apart from her through the day. We highly recommend Rachael and her daycare for anyone seeking a safe, loving, and educational environment for their kids! I'd also like to add that her extended hours have helped us tremendously as our commute to and from work is not the closest one. Thank you, Rachael!

There is something to say about finding the right school…read more The right preschool. The one where you drop your kid off and they don't cry, they don't run after you and make you feel horrible for having a job. They have a clean face and a full belly when you show up for them. They have a clean diaper for the ride home. They have taken and sent multiple pics thru the day. They have a smile on their face when you pick them up, not running crying to you. They have low ratio supervision. The school that you (literally) have never heard a child crying, and i have been there all hours of the day. The school where the staff is dressed appropriately according to their position. Where there is always a genuine smile (or shoulder) for you. The one where actual projects, sand play, water play, art every day are done and the rooms are not destroyed. In February, that's just what we did. I won't mention the school for privacy reasons but anyone who knows they have changed schools knows i have been raving about them. All our younger kiddos go there currently. All I'm saying is, it makes a huge difference where your children feel comfortable enough to run off from you instead of after you. So thank you to all the educators who put in their days seemingly effortlessly to teach our children of all ages. You are making a difference

Cadence Academy Preschool

If you are looking for a preschool for your son or daughter, look no further this is the preschool…read morefor you. We recently switched over to Cadence Academy and have never been happier. Our son's behavior did a 180! During drop off our son is waiting at the door knocking and has the biggest smile on his face as the teachers walk up to grab him and at pick up he always walks out with a smile on his face. Which means the world to us as parents as the last thing we need to worry about is if our child is happy or being cared for during the weekdays. Why should you consider switching to this preschool? 1. Cadence has a wonderful app that allows you to see your child's daily activities (naps, food, play, etc). This is a wonderful feature as you can see how your child is performing without being there in person. 2. The teachers! The day before our son started all the teachers came out to meet him. All of the teachers are fun, friendly and awesome! 3. Security. The whole preschool is gated and the doors have keypads, so no one can just walk into the preschool. Also, we are in the middle of a pandemic, and I have never felt safer than at Cadence. They only allow teachers and kiddos in the school; therefore, no parents or visitors can go in the building. They also have large signage listing symptoms that are not allowed. They have done a great job ensuring our kid's safety as well as the teachers during this 2020 year. 4. Learning. Our son was talking and communicating, but not to the degree he is now. It is huge difference. Our son is being read to and completing useful activities that are improving his motor skills as well as communication skills. 5. I could go on listing every reason why a parent or parents should consider this preschool, but my suggestion is to give them a call and see if you can tour the outdoor portion of the preschool or meet the teachers. You will not regret it!

The woman who greeted me for the tour was very friendly, but the other staff/teachers seemed very standoffish. I recall a woman who just sat at the front and was huffing puffing the entire time, as if she was annoyed. The school itself looks fine, but coming from a daycare/preschool that has really high standards for cleanliness and organization, Cadence really misses the mark. It looks run down and unclean. The staff aloofness alone had me turned off to this place.

I've…read moretaken several months to process what our family experienced there, and I'm now ready to share our story. Like many families, we waited months just to tour this school. It came highly recommended within the Sacramento/Elk Grove parent community, and we were initially very impressed. Our son has a slight speech delay, which I disclosed from the beginning. The staff assured us it would not be an issue and that they would nurture and support him. We believed he would thrive here. After a couple of months, the school moved him into the transition classroom where they begin potty training and encourage more independence. My husband and I expressed multiple concerns that he was not ready. He had just gotten comfortable with the toddler classroom routine and was happy there. The staff insisted he had to move because he had "aged out" and was "too big" to stay. (He is in the 99th percentile for height and weight.) They said it was unsafe for him to remain with smaller toddlers--even though there had never been a single incident involving our child. He played well with others and was loved by his teachers. We trusted the school's recommendation and agreed to the move. Looking back, this was our first red flag. From April through August, the transition class attempted to potty train him--unsuccessfully. As we had explained several times, he simply was not developmentally ready. He could not yet communicate when he needed to go, which is one of the most basic signs of readiness. At the end of August, we were called in for a parent-teacher conference. This is where everything changed. We were told that because of his size, he needed to move into the Pre-K classroom. However, they also admitted they did not believe he was ready for that environment because the teacher-to-child ratio is larger and he requires more redirection and attention throughout the day--something that is completely normal for toddlers. When I asked if he could remain in the transition class, even if it meant repeating the year, I was told no. Again, the reason given was that he was "too big" for the classroom. Instead, we were given 30 days to find a new childcare provider because our son did not meet their expectations. Anyone who has searched for childcare knows how unrealistic this is. Most centers have long waitlists just to tour and even longer waitlists to enroll. During the meeting, Ms. Julie casually said it should be easy for us to find another provider because there were "plenty of options." That statement alone showed how disconnected the leadership is from the reality parents face. My child was essentially judged for his size and his speech delay. Ms. Julie and Ms. Jenny made us feel like there was something seriously wrong with our son and even suggested he might need one-on-one care or homeschooling. What made this even more shocking is that none of these behavioral concerns had ever been brought to our attention before this meeting. Suddenly we were told he wasn't listening, was aggressive, and had trouble paying attention. Fast forward to today: our son is thriving at another daycare. Within the first month, he began speaking more words than he did during his entire year at Vineyard Montessori. This experience was incredibly disappointing and emotionally draining for our family. We felt judged, dismissed, and pushed out rather than supported. For a school that markets itself as nurturing and child-centered, our experience told a very different story. After speaking with other families, we learned that this situation is not unique to us. When several families share the same experience, it stops being an isolated incident and starts looking like a pattern. To be fair, I do want to acknowledge that the teachers themselves were kind and caring. Ms. Casey even cried during the meeting because she genuinely cared about my son and was sad to see him leave. I don't blame the teachers--it seemed clear they were simply following the decisions of the directors. I'm sharing our experience so other parents can make an informed decision before enrolling their children here.

I was shocked to discover that the director had written a letter for use in a ongoing custody proceeding, making significant statements about my daughter's attnedance, emotional wellbeing, confidence and social development. What is most troubling is that these concerns were never communicated to me while my daughter attended the facility. In fact, when I specifically asked the director whether her attendance was a concern, I was assured that my daughter was doing great and that her attendance for DAYCARE could be flexible. To first learn about these alleged difficulties though a court document, rather than a conversation with the people entrusted with my child's care, is incredibly upsetting and unprofessional. When we subsequently requested records and documentation supporting the statements made in the letter, we found discrepancies between the claims and the information provided. Our daughter is now thriving at her TK and is excited to arrive.
