My 93 year old mother came to Bria following a fall--and week hospital stay after surgery which included a hip replacement and plate in her wrist. In the three weeks following admittance, she fell three more times. I was never contacted for a care plan meeting within the required 14 days and had to schedule one myself when they moved my mother from the second floor to the first floor dementia and alzheimer's unit without notifying me. After an hour of asking for a plan to keep my mother safe, they finally agreed to allowing her to have an alarm should she fall again. On the first floor, I observed a patient enter a stairwell, close the door, and not come out. Then, when it was time for dinner twenty minutes later, the staff were all looking for him. A couple of days later, I was in my mother's room waiting for her wake up, when another patient entered the room, approached my mother's bed, and proceeded to drink the extremely hot coffee I had brought for my mother! I had taken the lid off for it to cool down, but what if it had burned this other patient? Or worse, what if she had been shocked enough to spill it on my sleeping mother? When I checked in the hall after the patient left, there were no staff to be seen. Unfortunately, at this writing, my mother is still a patient at Bria, but is, at least temporarily, back on the 2nd floor (after much issue). I am planning to hire an advocacy agency to help me sort this out. Would not recommend, but don't know if other places are any better :( read more
