He has Autism, Epilepsy and Schizophrenia. Once our son discharged from that facility we followed Sean when he opened his business. He continued to be our son's therapist for a few years. When it came time for me to need a therapist, Sean took me on as his client. I was so thankful as I knew I was about to enter one of the most painful and trying times of my entire life. With Sean knowing me and my family personally, I was already comfortable with him and also had gained that therapeutic relationship with him. Now we could build on that. I was correct about this season in my life being the roughest, most painful and trying times I have ever faced. Sean has been a constant and consistent person in my life. He is patient, caring, kind and his insight is out of this world. I have come a long way and I know I have a long way to go. Sean walking beside me through this really does help. It is also a huge comfort to me. I have seen 3 therapists in my life and by far, Sean is the best one. He really does "get" me and has helped me up till now so much and I know he will continue to do so. I definitely recommend him!

When we first met Sean, our son's world was a cross between the movies "A Beautiful Mind" (about a schizophrenic who hallucinates terrifying things) and Sixth Sense (a boy who sees dead people and the horrific ways in which they died). After six months of therapy and some medication changes, our son is amazed at how peaceful he feels when there is nothing going on in his head besides his own thoughts. We highly recommend Sean Martiny at Avani Counseling!

Lighthouse recovery is as good as it gets! Foremost, every member of the staff loves what they do…read moreand they really care about the people they treat. The founder and clinical director Nate Lanthrum has poured his heart and soul into Lighthouse. Essentially, Nate customizes a plan for you, based on your goals and needs. He combines the most successful components of various addiction recovery techniques (including the most current treatment modalities) and has made something original. He's deeply intelligent, humble and he brings a great sense of humor into the recovery process. One of the most intimidating parts of entering a recovery program is the admissions. Marty handles the intake process for new clients and makes the process as easy as humanly possible. Marty's basic philosophy is "we will do everything in our power to work with you and get you the help you need." Lighthouse doesn't turn people away who can't afford the program because they actually care about people. If you have insurance then Marty handles that aspect for you and gets you enrolled. Lighthouse offers medication assisted treatment. Their on staff physician is Dr Steve Holtsford. He is incredibly down to earth, intelligent, and caring. I have not had such a pleasant experience with a doctor in ages. He is really thorough yet expeditious. You never feel hurried during your time with him. He encourages you to be gentle with yourself when you need medication, and he is more than willing to assist you in your goals of tapering off medications. Lighthouse is a world class institution. If you need help, if someone you love needs help, give them a call. Asking Lighthouse for help might be the best thing you ever do for yourself or someone close to you.

She helped us work through some difficult issues that had been making the relationship difficult for years. Before I met her, I wasn't sure anything could fix the relationship. After a few months I feel like our relationship is in such a better and healthier place. I'm shocked and just so grateful. Hands down- she's an amazing person and great at what she does. I will be giving her info out to anyone who needs it.

This was our first experience in couples therapy. We did not have any other experiences with which to gauge the content or experience. After 15+ months, we had a total of 67 sessions - of which only 10 sessions (or 15%) were couples sessions that included both my husband and I. This means the remaining 85% were individual sessions. This to us really undermines the name "The Couples Clinic". We also felt this really slowed and deterred our progress and prevented us from working together as a couple under the guidance and leadership of someone who could coach us in the moment. At times, we did feel as though our insurance was being abused because couples visits are charged together as 1 visit (including both individuals) while individual visits are then each charged separately to both partners. An individual visit is charged at the same cost as a couples visit with both partners. Overall, we did experience a decrease in the overall level of distress in our relationship and we enjoyed the pleasant, approachable nature of our therapist. We were able to make some headway, albeit slowly. The Co-Director of the clinic was very responsive to our feedback and we felt a level of confidence that this would be addressed and taken into consideration moving forward. He expressed that the normal split is around 50/50 with couples vs. individual sessions and acknowledged that our sessions did fall short of that and vowed to take a closer look at this. Even a 50/50 split varies starkly to other treatment approaches by other therapists/therapy methods. We are now currently working with an experienced Gottman Therapist that works more intensively with couples and only has individual sessions where absolutely necessary. I would encourage couples to discuss the pros and cons of the various therapy approaches to select a style that suits expectations and needs.

My fiancé and I were required to take a pre-marital workshop held by Centennial Counseling Center…read moreby my church, Baker Memorial Methodist Church. It's a $135 class that runs from 8:30am-2pm on a Saturday, with the last two hours of the class devoted to finance. Needless to say, we weren't too excited about spending our day off in a church basement being told how to talk to each other. Surprisingly, Mark Ramirez, the counselor running the class, had some pretty good insight into our personalities after reviewing the Mejer/Jung typology test we were required to complete before attending. We'd be given 30 minute periods where each couple would go off on their own to discuss results from the test & our thoughts on them. I found the class to be helpful in that it gives couples the opportunity to realize the importance of effective communication. Along with the workshop fee is a complimentary follow up session also.

I would NOT recommend Centennial Counseling Center and specifically, Cameron Young, one of their…read moretherapists. I found Mr. Young to be very ineffective as both a personal and marriage counselor. He was very unintentional on how he led sessions and didn't have any specific plan or offer any meaningful recommendations or insights. He would often pontificate in sessions about his own life, which didn't have any relevance to the session at hand or my personal situation. However, my biggest issue with Mr. Young was how he handled a guardian et litem's request for information as part of proceeding for me to see my children. Centennial Counseling's policy is to only respond to guardian et litem requests and questions through written responses, which Mr. Young confirmed to me through text message. However, when the guardian et litem in my case reached out to Mr. Young, he indicated that it was at my specific direction for him to only respond in writing. He made no mention that it was his own practice's policy to only respond in writing. Mr. Young's response could have been interpreted that I was being uncooperative with the guardian et litem and put at risk my ability to see my children. Mr. Young was surprised that I had gotten ahold of his communication to the guardian et litem and became defensive when I raised concerns with his response. Furthermore, when I raised this issue to Timothy Buhrt, the CEO and owner of Centennial Counseling Center, he didn't have the courtesy to respond or apologize. Not only is Mr. Young an ineffective therapist, he is incompetent at his job and how to communicate with 3rd parties. It's also concerning the lack of acknowledgement and accountability from Mr. Buhrt as the practice's CEO in a highly important and sensitive matter like the one described above.
