Maria, Lisa, Josie, and the rest of this team of extraordinary clinicians saved my life - I wouldn't be here today without them. When I started working with Rago & Associates, I was at the end of my rope. My eating disorder had plagued me for years, growing stronger and more powerful despite the work I'd put in with other therapists and dietitians. When I met Maria I was stripped of all hope, and I felt that no matter what I did I would never experience healing or recovery. Maria met me exactly where I was at with compassion, love, and genuine hope for my future. She cried with me, held my hand, and assured me that I was deserving of health and happiness - and that she would fight alongside me tooth and nail until we achieved that, no matter what. She created a treatment plan tailored to my needs and invited my loved ones into the recovery process by providing accessible tools, resources, and space to feel heard and supported with all that they were carrying. She guided my family and me through the ups and downs of recovery - utilizing her experience in everything from outpatient to residential settings - with a keen understanding of what I needed and how to get me to agree to it (no small feat). Maria invited other exceptional clinicians from her team to join in my recovery process, including other therapists, a psychiatrist, and a dietician. Each brought their own unique way of connecting with me and discovering who I was, who I wanted to be, and how we were going to get there together. Through it all, Maria remained firmly planted in my corner, my biggest advocate and supporter, her belief in me unwavering. I cannot overstate how much it meant to have this team of people who refused to give up on me. Every time I fell, I had an interconnected web of people ready to catch me and help me back onto my feet. When I felt like I had nothing left, they showed me how much more fight there was inside of me. Eating disorders flourish in the dark, but this team of people shines with a radiant light. I am forever grateful to them for guiding me down the path to true and full recovery.

The founder and clinical director Nate Lanthrum has poured his heart and soul into Lighthouse. Essentially, Nate customizes a plan for you, based on your goals and needs. He combines the most successful components of various addiction recovery techniques (including the most current treatment modalities) and has made something original. He's deeply intelligent, humble and he brings a great sense of humor into the recovery process. One of the most intimidating parts of entering a recovery program is the admissions. Marty handles the intake process for new clients and makes the process as easy as humanly possible. Marty's basic philosophy is "we will do everything in our power to work with you and get you the help you need." Lighthouse doesn't turn people away who can't afford the program because they actually care about people. If you have insurance then Marty handles that aspect for you and gets you enrolled. Lighthouse offers medication assisted treatment. Their on staff physician is Dr Steve Holtsford. He is incredibly down to earth, intelligent, and caring. I have not had such a pleasant experience with a doctor in ages. He is really thorough yet expeditious. You never feel hurried during your time with him. He encourages you to be gentle with yourself when you need medication, and he is more than willing to assist you in your goals of tapering off medications. Lighthouse is a world class institution. If you need help, if someone you love needs help, give them a call. Asking Lighthouse for help might be the best thing you ever do for yourself or someone close to you.

Before writing this review, I did speak with the Co-Director of the office to share my feedback but…read moreI do want to publicly share our experience as well for those who may be considering this as an option for Couples Therapy. This was our first experience in couples therapy. We did not have any other experiences with which to gauge the content or experience. After 15+ months, we had a total of 67 sessions - of which only 10 sessions (or 15%) were couples sessions that included both my husband and I. This means the remaining 85% were individual sessions. This to us really undermines the name "The Couples Clinic". We also felt this really slowed and deterred our progress and prevented us from working together as a couple under the guidance and leadership of someone who could coach us in the moment. At times, we did feel as though our insurance was being abused because couples visits are charged together as 1 visit (including both individuals) while individual visits are then each charged separately to both partners. An individual visit is charged at the same cost as a couples visit with both partners. Overall, we did experience a decrease in the overall level of distress in our relationship and we enjoyed the pleasant, approachable nature of our therapist. We were able to make some headway, albeit slowly. The Co-Director of the clinic was very responsive to our feedback and we felt a level of confidence that this would be addressed and taken into consideration moving forward. He expressed that the normal split is around 50/50 with couples vs. individual sessions and acknowledged that our sessions did fall short of that and vowed to take a closer look at this. Even a 50/50 split varies starkly to other treatment approaches by other therapists/therapy methods. We are now currently working with an experienced Gottman Therapist that works more intensively with couples and only has individual sessions where absolutely necessary. I would encourage couples to discuss the pros and cons of the various therapy approaches to select a style that suits expectations and needs.

I can't say enough about the couples clinic and how immensely it has helped us. I can only speak…read moreabout one counselor there, Peter. His knowledge and understanding is deep. My husband and I both believe we could not be where we are today, or would have the ability to move through the pain without him; and we do both have individual counselors. It's a $135 class that runs from 8:30am-2pm on a Saturday, with the last two hours of the class devoted to finance. Needless to say, we weren't too excited about spending our day off in a church basement being told how to talk to each other. Surprisingly, Mark Ramirez, the counselor running the class, had some pretty good insight into our personalities after reviewing the Mejer/Jung typology test we were required to complete before attending. We'd be given 30 minute periods where each couple would go off on their own to discuss results from the test & our thoughts on them. I found the class to be helpful in that it gives couples the opportunity to realize the importance of effective communication. Along with the workshop fee is a complimentary follow up session also.
