It is a beautiful bridge with a pedestrian bridge down underneath, so you can walk down below or drive over the bridge itself. We parked down at the bottom and there are restrooms and a nice maintained walk to the pedestrian bridge. It's a beautiful site, especially in the fall and there were a lot of families taking photographs at the pedestrian area. Up at the top, many people were looking at the covered bridge and some were even having sunset picnics. Overall a great stop in a nice area.

A covered bridge is a bridge, often single-lane, with enclosed sides and a roof. They are typically wooden. Early bridges were made of wood, especially where it was a plentiful resource. Wooden bridges tended to deteriorate rapidly from exposure to the elements, having a useful lifespan of only nine years. Covering them protected their structural members, thus extending their life to 80 years or more. Covered bridges were also constructed to be used by travelers during storms and inclement weather. Most wooden covered bridges employ trusses as their key structural design element. A popular design was the Brown truss, known for its simplicity, but others were also used. Covered bridges are generally considered old-fashioned, and appeal to tourists, but the purpose is twofold: (1) covered bridges appear similar to barns and it is easier to transport cattle across them without startling them, and (2) to build a structure for weather protection over the working part of the bridge. A bridge built entirely out of wood, without any protective coating, may last 10 to 15 years. Builders discovered that if the bridge's underpinnings were protected with a roof, the bridge could stand for 70, or even 80 years. The existing covered bridges have been renovated using concrete footings and steel trusses to hold additional weight and to replace the original support timbers.Some covered bridges, such as the one in Newton Falls, Ohio and Elizabethton, Tennessee, also feature an integrated covered walkway. It was built in the early 1980s and is -- ostensibly -- very safe. Security appears to be very tight, and I'm almost certain you cannot get into this place. In that sense, the fun is pretty limited. But a community park, complete with a breathtaking view of both Lake Erie and the nuclear plant, is just a minute north on Perry Park Road. Grade: A (For what the experience is worth. And I'm not going to be the one who slights the giant nuclear reactor monster that's capable of destroying half of Ohio :)

However that top floor is not really enclosed so sometimes you can hear children squealing even when you are on the first floor. There's a mid sized computer area, all with cubicles pointing in one direction, like a classroom kind of. There's a digital media section as well as a teenager section. There are No specific quiet study areas. There are not that many places to sit and study, there is a shortage of power outlets. I came in one day at opening time and for quite awhile the two employees at the circulation desk were discussing their evening at full volume so I could hear them from the other side of the floor. Also, the bathrooms are in a pretty inconvenient location, which matters for me to stay there all day. The good: it's still reasonably quiet usually. The clientele here is nice, I don't have creeps staring at me. The parking is pretty good. Overall, it's still one of my choice places to study when visiting my mom- but it is not premium for the purpose of quiet study.

The team of 3 - 5 employees works through 2 separate lines (licenses in one, registrations/plates in another) very quickly. If you are prepared with all your documentation, you can be out of here in under 20 minutes! I went in today for a license renewal and was out in 15 minutes. Some background: I had 2 people ahead of me that were processed while I was in line, I filled out a paper form, I took a vision test, I took two temporary photos and paid in that span of time. I'd say that's pretty efficient. Considering the job at hand, I'd say the employees were pretty chipper. I'd return to this location.

The Lake County Sheriffs Department is a joke. They act like they are out here to protest and…read moreserve, but in reality they choose to pick and choose who they think should be helped. When I had an interaction with the Sheriffs Department. I was repeatedly misgender by Deputy Wolfe multiple times after I asked him to stop calling my sir he just kept doing it. Then they sent out a supervisor Lt Bowen to address the situation. When Lt Bowen arrived I told him do not call me sir or refer to me in that way. Then not 2 minutes into our conversation he started calling me sir as well. When I called to make a formal complaint Sgt Chaffee also addressed me as sir multiple times when I was informing him of my complaint and the issue. Then I received a call from Cpt Izzo who tried to tell me these officers aren't bad people and the typical BS used to protect bad cops. I also did speak to the Deputy Chief who informed me they are taking action to educate themselves on this, but the fact that these officers continued to misgender after I asked them to stop was completely unacceptable and shows the bigot actions of those officers.
