Gateway always has stock of my monthly prescriptions, they treat you like a human, and like a neighbor, they always answer the phone, and they always have superior customer service. Wish they had an app or they digitally (or call) notified you when you're prescriptions are ready. I always have to call them to check status, and sometimes it can be multiple phone calls if the script is delayed from doctors office to pharmacy refill request. They are usually prompt and efficient regardless. Either way, I'd rather go to this friendly neighborhood pharmacy than ever have to wait in line again at a corporate-owned pharmacy competitor.

In the world of chain pharmacies- this is not done. One of the major chain stores will not even honor requests for specific manufacturers of generic drugs. By law, these generic medications are allowed a 40% leeway from the original formula. Your heart medication or seizure medication if generic, only has to be 40% as effective- and they are selling it to you. If that's not disturbing enough, these chains will switch to the least expensive (to the chains) every month. It's vulgar, dangerous, and dehumanizing. I began calling to check on it about a week later, and told the person on the line that I DID want the prescription, even if my insurance denied it--she didn't seem to understand that initially, but ended up taking my credit card number for payment, and told me that I'd have it within three days. On day 4, I called to find out the shipping status, and was told that it needed to be transferred to a different pharmacy near Chicago, and that the pharmacy would be reaching out for payment details. The person apologized for "dropping the ball". Today, I called again, and lo and behold, the name of the pharmacy the previous person gave me for the transfer was NOT the pharmacy it was transferred to at all. This time, the rep gave me a phone number for the pharmacy, so I feel like I'm getting somewhere. I called the new pharmacy, and the strength the dermatologist ordered isn't even available any longer, so now, I'm still waiting while that gets hashed out--why wasn't this done before the prescription was transferred?! Juniper Pharmacy--you are literally a healthcare provider. Can you help me understand why you accept prescriptions and then just don't follow up with the patient for the status? And, shouldn't the prescription have been confirmed before you transferred it? It's now been OVER A MONTH, and I'm still not any closer to getting my prescription than I was when it was ordered.

I did not hear anything so I called this morning. I suggested to the manager that it takes just a few minutes to update their website to let people know that Fairview Heights is closed and that the Transfer Prescription function DOES NOT WORK... and to call their main 314 number if they want to try to get anything accomplished. DO NOT try to transfer a prescription via their website... they do not look at it. DO NOT go to the Fairview Heights location, it is OUT OF BUSINESS. DO NOT try to transfer a prescription from out of state to the St Louis location, they do not seem to understand how to do it. I spoke first with a technician and then a manager. Amazing incompetence.

The Medicine Shoppe was able to fill the order without having to pay an outrageous price from one of the pet supply companies and wait for shipping. After mentioning to the pharmacy tech that our dog was really bad about taking pills, she offered to make the compounded prescription in a liquid form. Found out after picking it up that they went an even extra step and flavored it with chicken broth. Very kind gesture! They also texted me as soon as it was ready. Would definitely use them again!
