Laval

This use to be my go to spot for salads in Laval!! I hesitated writing this review but since we're…read morehere to get honesty .. might as well get to the bottom I hope they were having an off day and this was just a hickup .. Service: Not Applicable as I ordered delivery.. it did come on time! Thanks Uber The problem : 40$ .. i got one tiny little salad barely filled for 40$ like how is that possible !!!?? My wallet is crying ! Lol 2nd I ordered 5x cauliflower in the salad .. they obviously forgot to put some smh!! The beans were really off they weren't fresh whatsoever I had one bite and spit the whole thing out. Had to pick something else for lunch! This use to be such an amazing place to get a healthy option. Unfortunately, it went downhill or maybe it was a staff issue who knows !!!? My salads use to be like 25$ Maxxx... is it me or it's starting to look like a real money grab to stay healthy.. I don't think I'll be back here unfortunately not for 40$ for a small tiny salad ! Nope!

Pros - It's nice to…read morehave a place that focuses on gourmet salads, particularly one where you can have a wide variety of options to choose from to make your own ideal salad. - I like how the place looks, it's very modern with a huge counter to order from. Plenty of fresh selections and the line runs pretty quickly. Seating is nice. Cons - I've eaten here twice and both times the salads were only "OK". First time I went with a Caesar's salad and the dressing was a bit sparse and more importantly, the vinaigrette just didn't do justice! Very weak. The 2nd time I went with a custom Asian salad and the lady who seemed to be having a bad day prepared my salad by simply bathed it with dressing to the point ALL I TASTED WAS DRESSING. - A big custom salad can set you back about $13-15. That's a hard sell if the salad isn't awesome. All in all, very average experience. I'll go back and try out something else and hope for the best.

Wow! I've been wanting to try Freshii again, ever since that first time in St Catherine's umpteen…read moreyears ago... And it did not disappoint!! The Monday special for today (Monday) is the build your own bowl of the day. You choose the ingredients - all different, or double up on the ones you love best. Can't go wrong with this! And the Ranch dressing was awesome! Very garlic and dill! The server was patient with us, which we appreciated, and helped ease things along by making suggestions. The setting is a bit like a subway sandwich bar, where you order at the counter and wait for your order. This gives it a fast food chain feeling. It had some low chairs at tables, and some high cafe chairs against the counter along the wall and windows. We were alone when we started, but it got quite busy!! I wish some soups had been on display (although I was happy with what I got), and that the seating had been a tad more comfortable. We never did find out what the wifi password is; something to add for next time. Can't wait to go back!!

The portions are very small in this location, smaller than what I usually get in other Freshii…read morelocations. The protein is barely a pinch. It might have been just the Buddha's Bowl itself because my husband's Oaxaca Bowl portions were much more generous than mine. I asked the older lady/staff member who put my bowl together, and she told me that's how much their scoop is, which is too small. The entire contents of the bowl did not fill up even half of the bowl. Other than that, friendly cashier.

Riley's Bakery - Devanture

I can't say enough great things about this place. Riley's Bakery is a staple of Cornwall's downtown…read morecommunity and easily one of my favourite lunch stops. The only complaint I can think of is if you show up between 11:30am and 12:30pm, there is a good chance the line will be backed out the door. On this particular occasion I made it right around 11:30 am and I only had 4 people in front of me in line. The bakery is run by the same two people day in and day out, Rob and Anna. They can come off a bit standoffish at first but nothing could be further from the truth. Rob spoke to all 4 people ahead of me and even knew some of them by name and things going on in their lives. On this visit I had a cup of Chicken Gumbo and a Turkey Sandwich. The Gumbo was full of sausage and veggies and had a nice flavour to it. The sandwiches however really are the star of the show here as Chuck pointed out. The bread was so fresh it was still warm. And the turkey piled about 3 inches thick. I opted to add cheddar cheese for the bargain price of $0.50 bringing the price to $6 for the soup and sandwich. An unbelievable bargain! Not only would I recommend Riley's bakery but would consider it a necessary stop if you visit Cornwall. You won't be disappointed.

I'm a fan of Di Rienzo in Ottawa and so I knew I would be hard to satisfy. This place is tha bomb! The bread is so good, a little touch of sweet in it, the owner is funny and diligent. Great dessert as well! If they were open at night I would be there twice a week!
