Housed in a historic train depot, the Gaines Station Library of the GDL is small and currently only open one day per week (Saturdays), but it's cute and full of awesome DVD titles (this place is like the last bastion of indie movies or something), junior and teen fiction and loads of popular "thriller" genre fiction by James Patterson, Tami Hoag, Catherine Coulter, etc, if that's your thing (it isn't mine, but whatever).
It only has two computer stations, but still provides free Wi-Fi (feel free to bring your laptop or tablet or sign into into the library's Wi-Fi signal on your phone to avoid data sucking charges) and wonderful learning programs for children and pre-teens, especially during summer months.
Despite being open only one day per week at this time, it still provides a great service to the community and some new non-fiction and classic literature book titles both seem to be making a comeback on the bookshelves lately. Customer service is usually high quality here. Maybe one day the Gaines Station Library will re-open full-time, but who knows? It seems unlikely at this point, but it's still a valuable asset to the local community. read more
