My wife and I are very lucky to be close to this beautiful library! It is such a welcoming…read moreenvironment and there are plenty of books and computers available around the building. There's also a little exhibit for Clarkston's history, and there seems to be plenty of community events that happen here. There's a cute little reading nook for toddlers, and a room for teen literature as well. We are looking to start a family soon, and this library will be a great place to take our little one for sure!

First, I want to say I just discovered this little library in my new hometown and was so pleased to…read morefind a cozy living room quiet area in which to read and do work. Lovely lamps, overstuffed chairs, couches - the only thing missing was a fireplace. :) Then.... After I got my computer/etc. settled (near the table that has a "Quiet Room" placard on it, which made me happy because I get distracted easily), I discovered the ladies who work at the information desk (just 20 feet from this area) are non-stop talkers! Now, I completely understand the need for an information area to ask questions, and talk daily tasks, etc., BUT they never stopped chatting. (I see a Seinfeld episode brewing here!) I tried to ignore it, turning my headphones up, but I continued to hear the one talking to customers on the phone (and not using her quiet voice). I waited and tried to talk to her nicely, but she did not get off the phone and I had to go. I did mention my dismay to one of the nice ladies and the book check-out desk. I cannot understand for the life of me, WHY they would put and INFORMATION desk, where people talk, just 20 feet from a quiet reading area????? This makes absolutely no sense to me, and it made me angry! And yes, I did check out the "quiet study rooms", but they were all taken. This library needs to move the information desk (which is right in the middle of the library) to another part of the Library, and also strategically put up some soft partitions, maybe. Just an idea. Anyway, thanks for letting me vent my frustrations.

A well-appointed, gorgeous public library. I entered on a Friday afternoon and found the library…read morebusy with teens studying, all ages browsing books and seniors filling several tables playing cards and board games in a rec. room that is right at the front entrance. I browsed the little bookstore and purchased a 1000 piece puzzle from Springbok and two cd's all for just $5.00. There is a children's room right at the front of the entrance. Also at the front of the entrance are a nice selection of mobility aids for those that need a little assistance getting around. The entrance itself is full of beautiful plants, trees and scenic decorations, making the entire vibe very welcoming. There is a computer room in the far back, a heft section of nothing but large print books. The front desk people were very knowledgeable and friendly.

In town for a few days with plans to spend time with family while working remotely, I needed…read moresomewhere to go due to my mom's dog barking. She suggested the Bloomfield Township Public Library and admittedly, I was a bit hesitant at first. However, I was in need of somewhere quiet to connect to video calls and I didn't have much time, so I somewhat begrudgingly headed over. Wow - I was blown away by the beautiful space - both indoor and out. There are plenty of friendly staff members to help answer your questions, obviously tons of books, a large and colorful children's area, an outdoor area, a vending machine area, computer area, plenty of desks, and private rooms for members. I am not a resident or member, so I headed outside to a beautiful terrace and I'm now back for my second day working here because I loved it so much. I haven't looked too deeply, but there also appear to be programs for community members of all ages to partake in - from book clubs and writers groups to knitting groups, summer craft kits, language conversation groups, speed dating with a book, and so much more. I'm literally so impressed with everything this library has to offer. I will be back and this may inspire me to also visit my own library back home. Lesson learned: never question a suggestion from my mom ;)

The Wixom Public Library is a modern, well apportioned library…read more The librarians here are experts at communication, library science and customer service.  They take an active part in the community and involve themselves in the daily operations and routines of the library. The building is attractive and easy to get into .  Once inside the library is laid out in a logical fashion and it is relatively easy to get around and find and use the materials available. The place is suitable for handicapped access.  The librarians are pleasant.  The place is kept neat and clean and the materials are orderly and easily traversed. There is plenty of parking outside.  The parking lot is well lit and kept clean and clear throughout all seasons.  This is definitely a place for research, learning and getting work done for children, teens and adults.  They have plenty of entertainment materials for all ages as well.

No large meetings rooms (just one - buts its buy with activities or shows), but the library does share a building with the community center which has space. Many activities are for all ages, from book reading clubs, to art projects to children story time. At least twice a year book sales are very popular, with a good selection and bag day on the Saturday.
